With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Ah ! The Harris tweed square. From the 200 knitted blocks book. I thought it was a lovely design for Dexter. I have never done it before but really liked it.

Skoggy · 03/11/2012 15:13

I'm so glad they turned up safe and sound. The pattern is called Popcorn Flower by Jan Eaton. Smile

Thanks

(I'm sat here, on my EDD, bored out of my skull thinking about starting a Little Hug now I'm "part" of the Woolly Hug crafters. Grin)

fraktion · 03/11/2012 16:09

I have managed to find some wool (Debbie Bliss cashmerino DK FTW!!!) in Paris. Will try my hardest to knit some (v simple) to post Monday, if international post will allow.

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 16:33

Yay for Parisian wool shops Frak!

Just had a flick through my 200 blocks trumpton very nice I like that one

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 16:41

Skoggy, start something complicated, it's bound to bring on labour!

Chulita · 03/11/2012 20:18

Ah good, I'm pleased they got there ok. I really hope the leaf pulls straight - I've never knitted anything like that and it looks very wiggly! I also had no idea what psso meant so I kept ending up with 2 stitches too many and then having to k2tog on the next row which is why the stalk doesn't match up all part of the charm though right?!

skoggy hope you don't have to wait too much longer!

KnottyLocks · 03/11/2012 20:24

Oh yes, we're all about charm Smile

Trumpton - your Harris tweed square is absolutely stunning, and most definitely a lovely design for Dexter, I've not seen one like it before, couldn't work it out, beautiful colour combi too, you are very clever indeed!!

Is there a link online so we can add it to the Crafting Guide?

Gee [blushes] thank you .
Each time I try a new stitch or pattern I think about the person whose life it commemorates and send love to the bereaved family . A new pattern focuses my mind whilst an old favourite allows me peace to think of their loss.

The Woolly Hugs work both for the donors and the recipients and link hearts in so many ways .
But without our hookers and helpers the squares would remain just that. You are the ones who make the hugs real .

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 04/11/2012 18:44
