Following on from our previous support thread please check in here if there's any help, particularly (but not exclusively) knitting help, you need for the squares for 3girlies, who sadly lost her beloved 6-year-old dd Flora recently.

The details of the blanket project are here and it directs you to the Crafting Guide on Woolly Hugs, with specific sections for crocheters and knitters. I am still maintaining the original document mostly because I haven't got around to separating out the stuff that's already on Woolly Hugs now from the newer suggestions we've had in the last few weeks. So please, by all means do send me suggestions for new patterns or ideas.

For those of you on Ravelry and participating in the Ravellenic games, I think squares could be entered under a number of categories such as balance beads, doubleknit boxing, lace longjump among possibly some others.

It's the 7th rnd that I can't get to look right but think that's due to mistakes in earlier rounds. I think I might need to start the whole thing again.

Oh, and the bits in bold have auto formatted to MN format so should be inside asterisks!

KnottyLocks · 09/08/2012 12:07

Baskets45, yellow isn't in the colour range for this blanket, I'm afraid.

We'll have a Last Posting date for you by the end of the day Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/08/2012 12:08

Baskets

I can help you here, but I'm sorry it's a no to the mustardy colour, we try to avoid yellows/golds as they are notoriously difficult to fit in with other colours.

Sorry about that

And no deadline as yet but assume 3 weeks, which takes us to the very end of August, possibly even early September. There are folk away on holiday which means I'm sure we still have people yet to join us. We will have a think though.

Thanks
RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/08/2012 12:08

Arf arf arf

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 12:10

Baskets, i think we're going for really girly pinks and purples for this one.

Somer, give me a minute and I'll try it out

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/08/2012 12:13

Tis blues, greens, pinks, warm purple, light silvery greys and cream but DB 013

Thanks
Baskets45 · 09/08/2012 12:30

That's fine about colours. I can use it for something else! I have just cast on some pink, and I have enough suitable ones, pinks and greens and blues.

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 13:03

Right, rows 1-6 make perfect sense but you need to turn the work after the ch1 atbthe beginning of row 6.

Carrying on now...

TeamGlaikitBritain · 09/08/2012 13:06

My circulars have arrived! And I have 3 hours until I need to pick up ds! Clickety clack!!

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 13:17

7th rnd: Ch 1 turn.

2 sc around last hdc. 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. (2 tr. Ch 2. 2 tr) in next ch-3 sp.

3 dc in next ch-3 sp. 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp. 3 sc in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. 3 tr in next ch-3 sp. (2 tr. Ch 2. 2 tr) in next ch-3 sp.

3 dc in next ch-3 sp. (3 sc in each next ch-3 sp) 3 times. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. (2 tr. Ch 2. 2 tr) in next ch-3 sp.

3 tr in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. 3 sc in next ch-3 sp. 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. (2 tr. Ch 2. 2 tr) in next ch-3 sp.

3 dc in next ch-3 sp. 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp. 1 sc in first ch-1 sp. Join with sl st to first sc.

It works but fuck me is it a bitch to keep track of!!!!!

Somersaults · 09/08/2012 13:52

Ok well I am (again) desperately trying to get DD to nap. Do we sense a daily theme in the Somersaults household?! When (if) she goes down I will have another bash from the very start again I think.

Thank you so much Grin

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 14:39

I'm making a Nac Mac Feegle, this gives my hands a bit of a break!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/08/2012 14:53

Hello there Smile [FabLolly]

We have come up with a last posting date for squares for the blanket for 3girlies. Hopefully this will allow for holidays..

Last POSTING will be Monday 3rd September

Sending our love to 3g and thinking of Flora Xx

Somersaults · 09/08/2012 15:09

Nac Mac Feegle sounds like a character from In The Night Garden so you will have to enlighten me...

TeamGlaikitBritain · 09/08/2012 15:11

TeamGlaikitBritain · 09/08/2012 15:13

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 16:20

My knitting group are making a woolly garden for exhibition at the arts centre we meet at. One of the other ladies and i decided we needed a Feegle the rest are a tad bemused

Once he's got his other arm and leg and I've dressed him, I'll post a picture on the Woolly Hug Picture thread :)

Somersaults · 09/08/2012 16:24

I was quite close with In The Night Garden! But in a woolly garden wouldn't you want to see Iggle Piggle and the Tombliboos?!

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 16:40

It was a natural progression from "Should we have fairies at the bottom of this garden?"

It's me and a lot of lovely ladies who knit for their grandchildren. Not sure they'd get an INTG reference, but i might drop it into conversation tomorrow :o

LollipopViolet · 09/08/2012 16:55

Right, I'm now ready for round two of my practice granny square. It erm, well, it's made with love. If this one looks OK (will post a pic) I'll get some lovely pink and purple in the required yarns and get my 4mm hook out to have a go for real.

What difference does the hook make, anyway? :)

And how the hell do I start crocheting round 2 of a granny square??? I'm confused lol

I suppose the start of a round is a good time to change colour, yes?

PurplePidjin · 09/08/2012 17:21

The hook dictates how big the holes are

Slip stitch into the first stitch of the round to join. Chain 2 + 2 more trebles = your first cluster of the new round

Yes. Instead of picking up the old yarn when you slip stitch you pick up a loop of the new one to bring back through. Then you knot 4-6" of pesky end to the old yarn and cut it off to the same length. When you've finished, you sew them in to hide them

:)

Somersaults · 09/08/2012 17:36

Thank you very much Pidjin. I handed my non-napping DD to DH as soon as he walked through the door and I now have a heart within a square! Yay!
