We have heard the desperately sad news that 3girlies daughter Flora has lost her battle against a brain tumour, she was 6 years old. 3girlies' thread is here

We send 3girlies our love and are so sorry for her loss. She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts X

We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted.

So we are calling out for knitters, crocheters and donors. Can you help us?

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread, and also PM me so we know. I will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with any admin. We now have Paypal to make donating easier for all. So please PM if you would like to join us, or if I can help match you. Knotty will try to answer any queries you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks. Thanks

Once again the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cash)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

The Colours
Pinks, warm purple, greens, blues, silver, cream
If choosing cream we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Themes
Flowers please, also initials F, P and L.

4mm needles or hook.

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs which are good ways to keep in touch.

But once again, we thank you so much for your support X Thanks

Here are my squares. The apple green was the wool from my donor so I've done one square completely in the green and then mixed it with colours I had left from another blanket for the other squares. I really hope I've done my donor proud. I will put them in the post this week Pistey. Are they going to the same place as the last lot?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/08/2012 13:41

I've just packaged up two squares.
one in blues, a normal granny; and one in pink and green, which is circles.

It was my first time attempting circles, so I don't think it's very neat.
but I thought the pattern looked flowery, so I wanted to do it.
and it's pink and green which is flowery, too.

xxx

nickelcognito · 21/08/2012 16:47

it's this pattern - you use the same colour for two rounds to make full circles, but i had to finish it with half-circles, because it was too small.
and i had to change from USto UK stitches.

Mermaidspam · 22/08/2012 19:38

Mine are on the way Pistey. Not too sure about one of them but think it might be ok when blocked/stretched/etc.

Somersaults · 22/08/2012 21:50

If DH remembers mine will be in the post tomorrow don't hold your breath

nickelcognito · 23/08/2012 11:45

Somersaults - same problem here.
we had a discussion about him posting the package on Tuesday.
(discussion was tuesday to post on wednesday)
we closed the shop and i said "you didn't take the squares!"
[blank face from DH]

i made him put it in his bag to take today after work. Hmm

Well, he remembered! And lots of other things too. I've had a minor op today, in and out this morning, so left him with DD and a million reminders about naptimes, mealtimes, suitable foods and volumes of foods, teat sizes for the expressed milk should she need it, anything and everything I could think of all came tumbling out of my mouth in the car on the way. And he remembered it all (well, she survived and so did he) and he remembered to post the parcel. Major brownie points awarded.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/08/2012 10:12

And even more Brownie points Somersaults as they have arrived safely!

Hooray! More lovely treasure has arrived, I've just had such a treat looking at it, you folk are so clever, such a lot of love and thought has gone into these as always, thank you! Thank you for choc too Smile Thanks

Just finished my squares - many thanks to my donor. Squares will be in the post on Tuesday when the PO reopens.

DharmaBumpkin · 28/08/2012 21:11

Finished my squares, all 3D flowers. Picture is on profile.

Pistey, quick question - my Mum bless her has done one of the squares and crocheted the granny square wrong side to the flower - a;; tied off etc before I noticed. Will it matter once they are sewn into the blanket?
