This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 08:31

I'll bring Dorset Apple cake and clotted cream and have the cardiac unit on standby :o

tribpot · 08/06/2012 08:36

Pidj, apple cake and clotted cream pass as health food in Scotland. Wink

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 08/06/2012 09:31

Ahem I have cous cous in my cupboard And I have never had a deepfried mars bar.

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 09:35

I have. I ate about 1/3 of it and nearly hurled!

I'm a softie southerner and proud :o

prettybird · 08/06/2012 09:41

I've never had a deep fried Mars Bar either but there again I'm a snob from Bearsden/Milngavie Wink

prettybird · 08/06/2012 09:42

I'll call your cous cous and raise you bulgar wheat! Grin

Morning Smile. Completing the njob application from hell this morning. I only saw it a couple of days ago, got the emailed application form this morning and the closing date is 5pm. My poor children are being ignored again!

hopefully I will get to the PO to post my final few squares later.

trib, I know that clapotis you linked to Grin and was inspired by it to do my own, which I then gave to my sister. I am currently mulling over a smaller, lighter one (in 4ply rather than DK). BRE is also my LYS but I have yet to make it to knit night as I usually work on Thursdays. If I get this job though....

MiauMau · 08/06/2012 10:40

I would love to join, is it ok to do a mixed media square? I've got some really nice ideas for a couple of bird designs but the involve fabric appliques.

RedRosie · 08/06/2012 11:09

Good luck with the app Daisy. Any problems ask Trib - Trib can do anything!

No-one wants a poem then? I saw a flouncy thread in AIBU about leaving MN because of bad language or somesuch ... Not my poems though :o

Pitsey and Knotty and Trib: are any more squares required for this sad occasion?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2012 11:12

Yes, I'd like a poem please Rosie one to encourage the sun Grin

You are so sweet, we have plenty of squares for these two latest blankets, but thank you so much

I shall PM you MiauMau Give me two ticks.....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2012 11:18

MiauMau - you have mail Thanks

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/06/2012 12:47

PurplePidjin - come to scotland and stay with me - we can go into town and meet up with PrettyBird too - or she can come to me and we can have a lovely knitting session together!

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 08/06/2012 13:09

Ahem Wink

RedRosie · 08/06/2012 13:32

Sun poem for Pitsey

Flaming June? Oh no its NOT!
The summer days have gone to pot

The garden's wet, the beaches empty
There's no ice cream or pop to tempt me

Have they offended the God of Weather?
Pitsey n Knotty n Trib together?

We're very sorry whatever we've done ...
But please, Oh please, bring back the sun!

tribpot · 08/06/2012 13:47

LOL at Glaikit being left out of the Scottish meet-up. That is mean Wink

Btw DAISY, true story: I used to do a good line in CV writing for my friends. It was a service I offered in return for red wine. I thus have no model for making the service available now I'm sober. I've never been to knit night at BRE as I am mostly too exhausted after work but I can make a special effort if you will be available at some point!

Rosie - loving the sun poem!

Ooops - you would be more than welcome too, Glaikit. Perhaps we should have a MN scottish knitters meetup?

tribpot · 08/06/2012 13:59

You are hereby unmeanified by inviting Glaikit out to play, SDTG.

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 15:52

Ooh, I could go on Tour Shock

Except I don't knit Sad

prettybird · 08/06/2012 15:53

You could try to teach a leftie to crochet :)

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 15:56

It takes 7.5 hours on the train and costs more for a single than a return on the Eurostar!

tribpot · 08/06/2012 15:58

They have airports in Scotland you know Pidj.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/06/2012 16:00

We'll teach you to knit, Purple. But I do understand about train fares. Sad
