This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

I'm out! No breaks (confirmed by x-ray not just poking) but stay off the foot and spend all day knitting on MN rest.

Rejoice, Oh wonderful crafty ladies
She's got the news, she waited ages

The foots not broken, the pain is pending
Trib's poorly foot has a happy ending!

Damn that's good :o

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/06/2012 18:17

Glad to hear that Trib

tribpot · 07/06/2012 18:20

I should say for the record, I didn't wait ages. In and out, inc 3 x-rays in about half an hour. Also today did not involve any family members being incarcerated due to staff shortages.

It does look very sore Trib. Try to rest it - appreciate that's not always easy.

I shall keep my word and stop producing excruciating verse.

Although in the couplet above (get me with my poetic technical speak) it should read:

Rejoice, Oh wonderful crafty ladies
She's got the news, we waited ages

The foots not broken, the pain is pending
Trib's poorly foot has a happy ending!

prettybird · 07/06/2012 21:00

Looks like tribpot needs something sugary to dull the pain Wink

tribpot · 07/06/2012 21:13

Much better Rosie! Great art demands an essential truth.

PurplePidjin · 07/06/2012 21:39

Rosie, do you have Vogon heritage by any chance?

tribpot · 07/06/2012 21:43

Pidj! So harsh! So very, very amusing.

Oh freddled gruntbuggly/thy micturations are to me/As plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee.
Groop I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes. And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, see if I don't!

*Coca-cola, people!

But how is that different from "Twas brillig and the slithy toves/Did gyre and gimble in the wabe/All mimsy were the borogroves/And the mome raths outgrabe" Confused

Ah hgttg :o

Pretty I might just try to make my own tablet. My last attempt didn't set but it was great on ice cream or just on a spoon! Is you method foolproof?

prettybird · 07/06/2012 22:39

It is indeed Grin although it took 13 batches to get there WinkBlush

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 07/06/2012 22:44

Is it a secret? Although I don't have 26 lbs of sugar!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2012 23:20

the mere thought of tablet makes my teeth itch me drool Grin

adds tablet to "list of things to buy on next visit home" alongside scotch pies, Forfar bridies and black bun

Still have some squares to post, soprry. RL, in the way of urgent job applications, has got in the way. I will be queueing at the PO tomorrow, I promise.

foot looks sore trib Sad, but phew to no break.

Poetry made me Smile Rosie

RedRosie · 08/06/2012 05:40

Morning all Brew

Minor domestic crisis last night, so I missed you spotting my Vogon heritage.

Oh yes indeed. Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz is my second cousin twice removed. Or something.

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 06:22

I have a confession to make Blush

I'm thoroughly ashamed of myself Blush

I have never been to Scotland Blush

In my defence, Paris is nearly 100 miles closer as the crow flies!

tribpot · 08/06/2012 06:28

It's all coming out now, Pidj. Have you ever been to Wales? Or have you refused to visit all the other Home Countries of the UK? Tsk tsk indeed.

Rosie, hope all is okay at home.

RedRosie · 08/06/2012 06:44

Much better now, thank you Trib.

How is Poorly Foot today? You only have to say the word and I'll lift its spirits with a poem?

And you may remember in THG2TG, that Vogon poetry was not in fact the worst in the known Universe ...?

PurplePidjin Never been to Scotland? Not even a ittle bit?

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 06:52

I've been to Wales (Bala in a caravan as a kid) S. Ireland (music festival as a teen) and N Ireland (dp ran his ultra marathon there). I waved at the Isle of Mull from Ballymoney and sang the silly song Blush

I'd love to go, dp and i were planning it but 4 redundancies in 6 months between us, plus now a pg, have got in the way a bit!

tribpot · 08/06/2012 07:10

Yes, third worst, Rosie. Perhaps Lewis Carroll was second?!

Foot is doing okay today. I should work from home and rest it but today is the last day of a friend and colleague who I've worked with for 6 1/2 years, and we have a meeting about his new project in Australia which overlaps with one of my projects in the UK.

Pidj, I think we'll count waving at Mull under the circs.

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 08/06/2012 08:01

I have a spare room pidj! It. Yours for a nominal fee crochet lesson! We are ideally placed for anywhere in central Scotland, Edinburgh less than 30 minutes away by train, Glasgow in 45 minutes, loch lomond a hours drive. :)

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 08:12

Done, Glaikit, how do you feel about babies visiting it'll take me that long to save up Wink

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 08/06/2012 08:25

Babies fine! They can go in with ds! I can supply full Scottish breakfast and tablet if pretty will share her foolproof method

prettybird · 08/06/2012 08:25

Glaikit - if you PM me your email address I'll send you a copy of my Mum's recipe annotated with my experience and how to make sure it's got the correct "bite" every time. Smile
