We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Mine are ready to post - MrPantryBoy has promised to take them to the post office tomorrow.

They are here if anyone would like to see them.

hoops997 · 05/03/2012 19:27

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/03/2012 19:29

Thank you hoops - I'm glad you like them, and thank you again for your generous donation

hoops997 · 05/03/2012 19:31

Am very Envy of your skills, I did try knitting, just wasn't good, I can cross stitch though Smile

Molehillmountain · 05/03/2012 19:32

Pistey - you need a needle gauge to avoid future Confused. Piece of plastic/metal with holes in it labelled with the corresponding needle size. Ive got a spare-could post it to knotty with my squares if that helps. It's owl shaped.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/03/2012 19:37

I'm in awe of all those who knit. My knitting is dreadful. For a start I look as if I am attempting to fly as I knit and I can't even maage a decent square.
I was so impressed by SoupDragon's elephants and some of the other knitted squares.

KnottyLocks · 05/03/2012 19:38

Pistey, your needles are 4mm. It says so on them. They are the needles you've used for previous squares, aren't they? Previous squares were fabulous. These will be fabulous.

Fab-u-lous.

Ignore the American/Uk knitting sizes. You have the ones you need.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/03/2012 22:01

Mumatron - your wool hasn't arrived yet but please don't worry.

Get onto Cucumberpatch tomorrow as they are very helpful and will know exactly what is happening. If you can call them before 12, they may resend the order tomorrow, which they have done before when things have gone astray. Let me know how you get on.

lilbitneurotic · 05/03/2012 22:17

Eek, I'm only about 40 rows for my 6 inches? Please tell me I've not gone mad and this may be okay?

tribpot · 05/03/2012 22:21

Elephants 2.

Lil, I'm only about 40 as well. I'm amazed we've got such variation with the same yarn and the same needles but that's knitting!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/03/2012 22:23

tribpot, that's fantastic.

lilbitneurotic · 05/03/2012 22:28

Tribpot, your squares are gorgeous - I'm just going to add a pic to my profile. Relieved to hear I'm not the only one about 40!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/03/2012 22:39

Lil, your square is beautiful. I love the texture.

lilbitneurotic · 05/03/2012 22:42

Thank you Pantry - its my first attempt at knitting! Your beautiful squares put me to shame! Thats a real talent you have.

GhastlyBespoke · 05/03/2012 22:45

Hmm. Looks like mine hasn't arrived with crafter yet. If it hasn't by tomorrow I shall get on touch with the website and see what's happening.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 05/03/2012 22:46

Something odd is happening. I am a tight knitter and mine is about 48 rows. It is stocking stitch.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/03/2012 22:54

Ghastly - your wool has arrived my lovely. Check back to Friday's thank yous. This thread moved so quickly over the weekend I'm not surprised you can't see it, it's miles away!

KnottyLocks · 05/03/2012 23:01

Tribpot, love the elephants - they make me smile. Star

Lil, your square looks so snuggly. Just perfect. Star
