We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

I have just ordered some wool. I will post some on when it arrives.

MinnieBar · 26/02/2012 16:17

SarahStratton if you're still sending me wool directly (I put on FB that I was happy to knit for Wubbly) then Knotty has said to send all our completed squares in together and then stipulate if they are for Wubbly/MrsKwazii/to be split between the blankets - if you're happy with this, then I could say all the ones I manage to make out of what you send/have sent (should be three squares for one ball I think) could go to either. I'm happy to knit for both.

I'll knit some more squares. I've PMed Pistey.

TheRealMBJ · 26/02/2012 16:23

Count me in. I'll do some squares.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 26/02/2012 16:24

I would like to try and knit some squares. I havent picked up my needles much since DD but I would like to try again.
I have just bought some duck egg blue for 3.25 on ebay. Lots on there.

If it turns out I am totally rubbish I will post the balls of wool to someone else.

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 16:27

MrsDV,

if you get stuck, you can post it to me and I'll do your squares.
However, I think you'll be absolutely fine.

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 16:29

If you haven't done already, please PM RatherBeOnThePiste and let her know what you are offering to do

Many thanks.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 26/02/2012 16:33

Thanks Knotty. Bout time I stopped slopping about and did something constructive. I have a whole room full of lovely crafty things sitting around doing nothing.

I am so sad for their loss. Its just awful isnt it. Just so terrible.

Whatevertheweather · 26/02/2012 16:33

Oh how awful Sad I am happy to donate again. Have pm'd Pistey

muddymooncups · 26/02/2012 16:33

I will post enough wool for both blankets, to the knitter.

So sad Sad

Thinking of both families. R.I.P

smartiesrule · 26/02/2012 16:34

Thank you Knotty. May take a week or so.

smartiesrule · 26/02/2012 16:36

If anyone fancies sending me some unwanted wool, I would be very grateful. Save me buying online if there's some out there.

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 16:39

Smarties, PM Piste. She'll match you up with a donor if there's one spare.

Have PMed Piste

Glitterknickaz · 26/02/2012 16:45

Have PMed Piste. I'd like to start knitting.

Methe · 26/02/2012 16:46

This has been on my mind all afternoon :( I'll crochet a couple of square. It'll be ripple as that's all I can do and I am a very beginner so they won't be perfect.

I'll watch out for colours and wool:

TimeForCake · 26/02/2012 16:50

I don't know what to say Sad. I will pm Pistey and do my very best to crochet a square. I am very slow and not very good at knowing what I am doing, but I shall do my utmost to do a square for both blankets. Hoping my wool arrives tomorrow so I can start over and over again.

Loganberry · 26/02/2012 16:52

Have pm'd you Pistey, would like to knit for this one too.

trumpton · 26/02/2012 16:59

Will knit for this blanket. So sad to have two so soon , so sad to have the need for any Woolly Hugs at all.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 17:01

Thank you everyone - such amazing support, I am humbled, truly.

I am steadily working my way through the PMs.
Then I will go back through the first thread and make sure no one gets left behind.

Thank you to everyone X

Thanks
