We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Sorry - am getting a bit Saturday-night flippant whilst wating for my wool - now have a whole Sunday to get through before next postman visit

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 19:25

Knots - I have reported us again Blush

Just informing them about our PM problems today, or they'll just not know. Shall we say our goodbyes now as we get booted off for being right pains up the arse?

I did think about the possibility of creating us a gmail account and move Blanketeering onto email, you could easily have folders and group lists etc - but that would be less direct, and a real shame to move away from MN, when the essence of the blankets is MN. Actually really don't want to have to do this Sad Just don't know what to do!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 19:28

I think I'll have a gin, that's what I'll do.
Still replying to PMs Thanks

KnottyLocks · 03/03/2012 19:32

Wine here < cheers>

We need to keep it all on MN to preserve people's anonymity too. at least people have the option at the moment as to whether info is shared with us. With Gmail, there's no option.

Wassat all about??!!! Anyone know???!!

Wine clinks glass - cheers x

GleamingHeels · 03/03/2012 19:42

Knotty and Pistey have you ever had PM problems with previous blankets? I can't believe that MNHQ would do anything to hinder the blanketeers, can only hope that it's just a glitch caused by the huge amount of support for these projects - do you need the rest of us to petition MN Towers in support?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 19:55

I've not had problems before no,I don't think Knots has either. Like you, we suspect it is just down to sheer volume because of the amazing response we have had. And desperately sadly, we are running two Blanket projects side by side. Sad Sad

MNHQ really are trying to help us, they are working on a short term fix for us whilst looking to work on the PM system as a whole. Please don't petition them! But that is kind to offer. We are in talks with them already and they are being very supportive. We are trying to use a system not set up for this volume, I suppose we should not be surprised if it creaks Smile

GleamingHeels · 03/03/2012 19:57

Gotta love MNHQ then - Thanks

I am a plonker when it comes to knitting - I tried very hard to do something fantastic and did, only problem is its not bloody 6 inches.

Oh Well!

So back to normal knittage for moi!

PurplePidjin · 03/03/2012 22:01

Pooh, can you crochet? Pop a border round and it'll be grand :)

iceandsliceplease · 03/03/2012 22:29

Re: the poor aged PM system creaking desperately under the weight of all of us, might it be an idea to set up a facebook group? We could still run the threads here, but have a group going so we can exchange details via PM on there? We'd still have to use PMs on here to add people to the group, but it might be a little simpler?

It's a thought that's only just occurred to me, so is probably full of holes much like my crochet but might make Pistey's life easier.

iceandsliceplease · 03/03/2012 22:34

Pooh, I had a trial stab at a pattern today and whilst it came out the right size, it is shockingly piss poor, mainly because I quite clearly did randomly different stitches at various points to the ones suggested in the pattern. I'm frogging it whilst watching TOTP2

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 03/03/2012 22:41

I have six squares done and ready to post.

Who do I need to PM for an address?

SoupDragon · 03/03/2012 22:44

Sorry - I am completely against fecking Facebook.

DonkeyTeapot · 03/03/2012 22:59

Thank you Pistey, yarn noted :)

KnottyLocks · 03/03/2012 23:07

Ice, for many different reasons we want to avoid the Facebook route.

For a start, not everyone is on it and I would hate for people to feel forced into that. Also the anonimity issue is a really big one.

We don't want to make it difficult for people or set up a system that excludes or puts people off doing this.

Fairy nuff - like I said, an idea full of holes! Smile

Let's hope that MN Techy Towers can sort something out soon.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 03/03/2012 23:13

Hi all, nice to catch up with todays posts, I've missed you all - don't you hate it when RL gets in the way!! I need a phone that is internet friendly Grin

Methe - I've sent you a PM re casting on the simple way :)

Hoops - where did you get your wool from? Mine was £5.50 per ball! (John Lewis - the only supplier around here and I wanted to go and look at the colours & get it in a real shop).

KnottyLocks · 04/03/2012 07:07

Morning all Smile
