We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

heels sent many messages before to Piste, as I have knitted before. I have just read ALL the thread and see there has been a problem, but thought it was resolved?

GleamingHeels · 03/03/2012 15:50

Yep, I thought it was resolved too - I clicked as if I was going to send a message to you and it looked fine, so have no useful advice.... sorry

alibubbles · 03/03/2012 15:51

test posted to knotty

alibubbles · 03/03/2012 15:52

It sent to knotty no problem, so will try again

It is fair to say that Pistey and I are having a few technical difficulties.

My Inbox, hopefully, is working again.

Update

The current state of play is that we have a lot of people crafting for both blankets. It's wonderful that so many of you have offered your skills. Pistey and I have been quite overwhelmed (in a good way Smile ) by the response.

You are all lovely and complete [stars]
Thanks

Obviously we don't want to turn people away if there are more offers because that goes against everything we believe these blankets are about and is certainly not in the spirit of what we are trying to do.

So we're NOT going to do that and have no intention of doing so.

However, it does mean that if we have more crafters sign up I can't guarantee that every single square made will go on these blankets. I will make sure that if you are signed up already, as many of your squares as possible will appear on the blankets we're doing at the moment.

For any crafters that are considering offering that haven't done so already:

If you are happy to have any squares that you make used on any of the MN blankets (it may be in the future rather than on these two), please let us know and join our little band of blanketeers.

Thanks to you all. You are just simply marvellous. Smile

Sorry Knotty, I'd gone to feed the chickens at the bottom of the garden, didn't quite hear you Smile

GleamingHeels · 03/03/2012 17:22

Knotty, Pistey I think Knotty's message means that you may have too many squares for the two current blanket projects and so are willing to keep a bank of the extras, (presumably after choosing a selection that works for the current blankets), ready for the next time something so sad happens because you expect to be involved again.

If I have understood correctly, then I think you are two of the loveliest people ever and you can use my squares towards whichever blanket you like, now or in the future

Hurrah for Pistey and Knotty
Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 18:42

My lovely Gleaming - you have it right but you are far too kind!

Knots and I have been absolutely blown away by the response for these two blanket projects. It is so humbling and warming, the spirit of the blankets is thriving and is in such good heart. But you know at the very core is a community coming together to show love and support for others. That?s all of us, each doing our part. Nest of vipers? Not from where we are standing!

Thanks
RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 18:45

And now I go to check my PMs

I see there has been another problem, I'm so sorry everyone I shall check the threads carefully too.

Knottyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! What are we going to do about bloomin PMs! I think we've broken the system Grin I don't feel I can trust it anymore. Arse.

We'll be booted off MN

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2012 18:47

Knotty - I know we said we wouldn't nag MNHQ but I'm thinking they need to know PMs went wrong for both of us again today, so I'm going to report it. Not nag. Oh no. Just inform

KnottyLocks · 03/03/2012 18:48

Gleaming, can you write my next reference please? Grin

Many Thanks for understanding.

We really won't know how many squares we'll have until they are in but as we have such a great group, we know that you will astound us. We just don't want anyone to be disappointed.

OP posts:
KnottyLocks · 03/03/2012 18:52

Pistey, nag? Us? Never. Oh no.

Inform we can do though. Wink

KnottyLocks · 03/03/2012 19:10

Wine and cheerleading Blanketeers - perfect match.

Wine and barefoot football not so good. trust me.

OP posts:
GleamingHeels · 03/03/2012 19:22

Wine = good with most things that can be accomplished from sitting on sofa position including MNing = good have revised cherleading to avoid use of legs

football = indulging DH whilst creating MNing opportunity = good

barefoot football = getting off sofa + reduction in MNing + owwwch = avoid
