We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

I'm 20 minutes from the meet up and have made my first donor wool square - plain solid navy granny for a tweety bird, or I might embroider on some snowflakes

Ooh, thank you :)

CiderwithBuda · 02/03/2012 13:50

Hmm. I have done two plain squares which turned out fine and right size. The I did one with a heart on and it has turned out too small. Can it still be used? Very frustrating! It's about 5 inches square rather than 6.

DonkeyTeapot · 02/03/2012 13:57

Cidre could you do a quick round of double crochet round the edge? That'd add about an inch, I reckon.

DonkeyTeapot · 02/03/2012 13:58

(Clearly I don't know how to spell Cider even when it's there in front of me!)

KnottyLocks · 02/03/2012 14:05

Cider, is it knitted or crocheted?

How much give is there in it?

DonkeyTeapot · 02/03/2012 15:15

Aye, proper posh, me, Knotty

Blatherskite · 02/03/2012 15:38

I used to work on an IT helpdesk and you would not beleive the amount of problems that fixes Piste! Grin

Mind you, some of the people I used to talk to thought that switching off the monitor turned the PC off so those machines wouldn't actually ever get restarted unless we told them how to do it Hmm

GhostInTheBackOfYourHead · 02/03/2012 15:56

I have PMd you RatherBeOnThePiste.

CiderwithBuda · 02/03/2012 16:01

Thanks all. Cidre sounds rather posh!

It's knitted. Are you sure Knotty? You have more than enough on your plate.

I'll do a few more anyway and see how they go. Might keep the small one and do a few others that size and make a blanket for my niece's doll.

Quite enjoying knitting again.

Al0uise · 02/03/2012 16:17
