We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Pippi - oh well, never mind, I'm sure it will fit in perfectly somewhere! There are a few shorter ones and Knotty's a crochet genius.

PippiL · 01/03/2012 23:38

Ah well. I'll stick to a more simple pattern for the next one.

Maybe bobbles since I've mastered them now!

CakeMixture · 01/03/2012 23:44

Roughly how many rows for a square?

Knowing will help my pattern..........!

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 01/03/2012 23:55

The bobbles always look good on a plain background :)

upsydaisysexstylist · 02/03/2012 07:03

mornig, needs emoticaon for the whole pot of coffee necessary to awake my brain. Off to buy 4mm needles as ds2 has stolen and hid up mine. Would have gone yesterday but, had to wait in for electrician to repair the plug socket ds2 had managed to prise away from the wall. Poor man just kept saying but the're childproof.

Cakemix - think someone mentioned it being 40 odd earlier. Mine was 50 and obvs too long.

Upsydaisy - do you have any 4mm circulars? I knit everything on circulars now, saves losing the other needle!

PippiL · 02/03/2012 07:58

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/03/2012 08:33

Morning! Brew

Just wanted to say have fun to all going to reading today!
Would love to join you but the combination of my 2dc under 3 and dd being poorly is impossible.

Enjoy the cake wooly work! Grin

Methe · 02/03/2012 08:38

Reading is much to far from my I'm afraid. Hope you all have a lovely time :)

I ordered some knitting needles last night, 4mm bamboo ones. Hope they're ok. I suspect i'm going to find knitting a lot harder than crochet.

PurplePidjin · 02/03/2012 08:42

Morning all Brew

Whenis, kids are welcome so the only issue is how unwell dd is Wink

sodapops · 02/03/2012 08:46

Morning.

My wool finally arrived this morning. I've got a few little jobs to do today and a cake to bake, then I shall be knitting.

I hope you all have a lovely time in Reading, it's too far away for me!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/03/2012 08:50

Pidj- she is getting better but as she has had a d bug for 11 days now I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I will be very strict with the 48h symptom free rule on this occasion. Even if it does mean toddler ds has gone feral after not being allowed out for days! Blush

Luckily managed to unravel the mess he quietly left my wool in yesterday! Hmm

PurplePidjin · 02/03/2012 08:58

Aww, poor minisleepytimes Sad

And a big glass of Wine for mummy!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/03/2012 08:59

Finished my second square last night :)
here

Posting from iPhone so can't put pics on profile. (without dc helping)
MNHQ - once you've sorted the over stuffed PM boxes maybe try adding pics from iPhones etc?

Methe · 02/03/2012 09:01

I love that whenis!

PurplePidjin · 02/03/2012 09:03

Fabulous, Whenis Thanks

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/03/2012 09:04

Thanks methe! :)
It looks a bit swirly at the corners but I'm sure knotty will make it sit nicely! :)

Think I'll get one more square out of my ball of wool. What pattern to try next... Brew and ponders

NinthWave · 02/03/2012 09:54

Yay, my wool reached its destination, glad to hear it :)

Just been looking at the pics and am overwhelmed by how much love and care has gone into these blankets (I haven't taken part in any of the previous projects). What a bloody amazing community we are.

LinzerTorte · 02/03/2012 10:00

Still no sign of my wool. So now I'll have to wait until Monday before I can get started.

GentleOtter · 02/03/2012 10:04

Thank you ThanksThanksThanks to the Woolly Fairy who sent me beautiful needles yesterday.
The wool no longer slips and I am thrilled with the needles. Smile

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 02/03/2012 10:29
