We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Hello,

The PM issue is a Techie thing, so I asked Steven to take a look. Here's what he said,

'Sandy has asked me to get in touch about the PM system. We don't delete PMs so you should be able to see all your messages unless you deleted them from your inbox.

We only show 20 messages per page, so some people have lots of pages of messages, which can be awkward to navigate of course - it's on our (long) list of things to improve. But there's no formal limit as such, and you shouldn't need to delete messages to receive new ones.'

Hope this helps for now! Smile

KnottyLocks · 28/02/2012 16:56

Hello Sandy,

Does he have any idea what happened to Piste's inbox then? Several posters tried to PM her but couldn't. However, once she deleted some, they could PM her again.

My donor will for MrsK's blanket has arrived, a lovely ball of a dusky/raspberry pink colour.

Unfortunately my wool I ordered from cafe knit for Wubbly's blanket is still MIA and they are not answering emails or calls at the minute grrrr

SoupDragon · 28/02/2012 17:04

I now find it confusing to crochet in English :)

BrianTheBrainSurgeon · 28/02/2012 17:05

I've just PMed Piste, did it go through?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 17:13

On my phone, back properly later, but yes Brian it has - I have replied x

Rudawakening · 28/02/2012 17:15

Also forgot to say a big thank you to my wool donor Thanks

smartiesrule · 28/02/2012 17:21

Got my 2 balls of beautiful purple wool today, will start the squares tonight when DS's in bed.
I just wanted to say a huge Thank You to my very kind and generous wool donor. Thanks

BibiThree · 28/02/2012 17:37

This is a beautiful thing. What a wonderful lot you all are! My wool is on it's way to a knitter. I hope it's okay.

BIWI · 28/02/2012 18:03

I sent to someone who lives at no 57 Wink - so very glad you can do this - I am quite the most useless at anything crafty!

BerryLellow · 28/02/2012 18:41

Pistey I have sent my envelope to the address you gave, with your name on it. It now dawns on me that may have been someone else's house, so anyway, someone will be getting a red envelope with pistey on the front. :)

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 28/02/2012 18:57

Hi there, I'd also like to contribute some wool. (Knitting is not my forte... but discovered today I can make a mean spider costume!)

I feel for MrsKwazii and her family. This is such sad news.

Pistey I have just dropped you a PM.

Soup - I'm glad I read the thread before I read this I now find it confusing to crochet in English.

I really must learn to crochet - if only to understand what you are all on about :)

Pidj - do bring your squares on Friday :)

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 19:32

Oh yes, and my pile of woolly ends, and Peso! I have interviews tomorrow and Thursday but will try and do some more in between and on the train.

WhoremoaneeGrainger · 28/02/2012 19:34

Pidj - just looked at your cats - i will be ashamed to send my granny squares in Grin

SixtyFootDoll · 28/02/2012 19:34

I sent my ball directly to a clever knitter, raspberry pink. I hope it's as lovely as it looks online. Good luck xxx

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 19:39

They're really easy and take no time at all! Do you want the pattern link?

Alambil · 28/02/2012 19:43

I love waffle stitch, but because I learned by watching the aussies and yanks on youtube, I struggle to read a UK pattern now!

iceandsliceplease · 28/02/2012 19:47

Have PMed you Pistey, hope it gets through!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 20:04

Have PM'd Pistey, would like to knit for this too but only have boy colours really. So sad :(

PoohBearsHole · 28/02/2012 20:35

I got home with great excitement from work to get knitting - no wool Sad

Now I also want to learn to crochet Envy which I think is a bit weird.

Can you start a crafty in you shop?

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 20:48

PoohBear, Nickel has offered to host a knit and natter, drop her a pm incase she doesn't spot your post. Or, come to Reading on Friday (give me a mo and I'll link the thread)
