We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

My lovely Whore - I shall PM them and see if they would like to come forward or would prefer to remain annonny anonnamus annnonnymouse unnoninm innannimis ennonnym iinnynimis private. Smile

Methe - I worked it out by trial and error. Most error.

Linzer - you did indeed donate to Soupy Thanks The joys of internet shopping for our overseas Mumsnetters. Cucumberpatch post first class the same day if they recieve by noon.

Oooo Nessa - I know who it was that donated to you Smile I will be letting all donors know their wool have arrived safely.

We?ve had such a run on Cucumberpatch they have sold out currently of vamp (deep purple) and pompon (deep pinky) maybe even others?

So much wool arriving and on the way - Thanks to all lovely donors, or donorons Grin You are all totally brilliant

I am just coming to PMs now, well that is if my box has exploded again.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 14:03

That should say hasn't exploded again! Knots - have we got anywhere with the techy types?!

Or do we need more rum?

NessaRose · 28/02/2012 14:07

Pistey can you say thanks please?

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 14:09

Pidj - i love those cats!
looking at the pics, is it american?
we must remember to correct DC to TC
Grin

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 14:12

Methe - crochet doesn't tend to change shape as much as knitting from foundation chain - i measured approx 6" and the next row was just over 6".
you can always reduce it at the ends if necessary :)

DirtyMartini · 28/02/2012 14:12

Oh hi - I should have looked at the thread before. I just sent you a reply, Piste, sorry if that was a mistake given inbox probs. Was just to say the order has gone through to the person you matched me with, so hope the wool will be there soon. A pink and a blue. x

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 14:12

My pusscats are in multiples or 5, then ch4 to turn, but have come up slightly over 6". So i'd say ch32 for rows. Grannies are about 7 rounds of treble shells :)

Pusscats proceeding apace!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 14:13

One step ahead of you Nessa!
Still just about to start the PMs Grin

Thanks To NannyNick for your kind donation today - am sending wool out on your behalf. Really really appreciate your support. x

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 14:15

Methe · 28/02/2012 16:00

Thanks Nikel :)

I have had another practise and I recon a starting chain of 25 ought to be about right,. It's just my problematic edges now.. one straight one and one errrmmmm.. not straight Grin

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 16:03

my edge are always not-so-straight too.
(that's why i normally do squares in the "round" Wink)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 16:04

My squares are just wonky Grin

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 16:07

best thing about those waffles is they're all trebles! Grin
(my comfort zone)

i wish it were possible to crochet while breastfeeding - come on DD, you're cutting into my crochet time!

Blatherskite · 28/02/2012 16:09

My wool is on it's way to my lovely crafter....

Methe · 28/02/2012 16:10

I love that waffle but find it so confusing that american and british stitches have different names!

Kayzr · 28/02/2012 16:13

I have posted out my wool this afternoon. Its a blue ball and a pink ball.

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 16:17

yeah, i am now used to hearing "double crochet2 in american accent means "treble crochet" in english Grin

it's easier with this waffle, because it's all in trebles, so in theory it can't get too confusing.
it would be worse if it were in doubles and trebles.

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 16:17

( " not 2)

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 16:24

I auto-translate most American stuff into English, otherwise my pedantic brain would explode!

nickelhasababy · 28/02/2012 16:25

a number of times, i have taken written american instructions and pasted them into word and changed the words (find and replace) - i always start with the trebles, cos then it doesn't change them back! Grin

travellingwilbury · 28/02/2012 16:34

Wool has been ordered and sent this morning , fingers crossed the colours are ok .
