We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Hi, just to say that I put on my FB that I'd happily knit some squares if any MNers wanted to donate wool, and two have said they will - so I should be sending in at least five squares now Smile. They are sending me the wool direct (I've given them the strict instructions!) so no need for PMs, but if you want to thank them/acknowledge it, they are SarahStratton and Pigleychez.

Cheers, Minnie. That's great.

I think this may be a very big blanket Smile

Those of you who buy yarn regularly on line, could you recommend who to buy from? I think I used Lydia before and then John Lewis but is there anywhere else worth trying? Google throws up so many and it's a bit of a minefield. I'll need to get going soon as it's going to take a month of Sundays at my pace. Especially by the time I have undone every row several times because it's wonky or gone wrong or a multitude of other issues I seem to be able to create as an inexperienced, self taught beginner Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/02/2012 21:35

Cakey, I would recommend Cucumberpatch They are very good. If you order before noon tomorrow, they post it first class tomorrow. And be proud to be a wonky hooker Cakey, I am!

TimeForCake · 23/02/2012 21:52

I am Pistey, I am!! I'll look at that then, thanks.

By the way, are you going to start preparing your postie soon for another influx of parcels addressed to all sorts of amusingly named alter egos? After last time, he may need a warning. Especially if that Soupy's up to no good again Wink

Ohhhh now that is lovely. I bet someone is talented enough. That's a great find Knotty, though very Sad too.

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 22:22

I have no orange wool and know from trying to make carrots that there is none to be had locally.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/02/2012 22:26

Carrots?

I saw earlier about the crochet sea life things. Think I will go for a crocheted octopus. How difficult can it be?

PurpleKittyKnitting · 23/02/2012 22:26

I tried to send a PM there but it won't let me!!

VeryLittleGravitas · 23/02/2012 22:27

I have orange wool and have already made Prof. Inkling and Dr Shellington Amigurumi, so will give it a go...I'll make my own pattern

TimeForCake · 23/02/2012 22:29

Piece of the proverbial I'd say. Reckon you could have it done by lunch time tomorrow Pistey. I of course, could have done two by then. Grin

KnottyLocks · 23/02/2012 22:32

'Freestyle hooker' just about sums me up too, Very Grin

Oh, and if anyone needs orange wool to have a go at Kwazii , I have some pale orange wool I can send your way. Tis proper blanket wool too!

Have just ordered 2 balls to go to my crafter - one soft green, one pale blue. Have PMd Pistey to sort out how to let me know if it doesn't arrive by Wednesday - it should - but if you are a crafter after 2 balls and your initials are RK, then I'm just letting you know it should be posted out today. :)

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 24/02/2012 02:53

I have been PMing with Pistey, but just wanted to join the thread & see how things progress :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 07:02

Brew Morning

Thumb - I have PMd your lovely knitty type, she will let us know.
Thanks Have replied to all PMs...
Confused Octopus and squid...

Am so glad it is Friday!
Back at lunchtime

SoupDragon · 24/02/2012 07:09

Ah good - I can leave Kwakii to VeryLittleGravitas. Looked pretty straightforward TBH - certainly no more difficult that the bunny I made for BabyDragon's birthday.

DaffodilsAhoy · 24/02/2012 07:16

I would like to help. My knitting is a bit wobbly so I think I'm better doing a crochet square. So are the rules:
6" square
Debbie Bliss cashmerino or roman cashsoft, must be blue/purple/silver/green/cream or grey.

Have I missed something? What do I do when I've finished?
