We have heard the dreadfully sad news that Chipmonkey's baby daughter died unexpectedly this week. Condolence thread is here Chipmonkey has said tonight that she would love to receive a MN blanket.

Because Knotty is snowed under a mountain of wool, I am taking on the coordination for this, so if you are a donor or a crafter needing a match - please PM me and I will match you up. I know there is an amazing army of donor, knitter and crochet stars, and I am hoping that you will feel able to help with this blanket too.

So if you feel that you can help, please PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, and I will sort it all out, and when you are ready to post, PM me for the address.

I will have to get back on the deadline...

But thank you in advance.

ooh blanket looks lovely.

KnottyLocks · 24/10/2011 16:08

Jules, you did not imagine it Grin Generally it is easier to hook the squares together if they aren't blocked. BUT I did have a couple of blocked squares on WTW's blanket that were fine. It really depends on the tension. If you've blocked them, it's not a problem.

ShakeThyGoryKnottyLocks · 24/10/2011 19:17

Some pics of Whatevertheweather's blanket here on Flickr

I'm hoping to add another set for Cupoftea's garlands and Cheese's blanket as I go...which is very slowly nowas it's half-term [hgrin]

HowlmoaneeChainClanger · 24/10/2011 19:51

Can i just ask - do all the squares submitted for each blanket get used for that blanket, or do they get carried over for another one?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 24/10/2011 19:51

Wow! Well done ladies those blankets look amazing!!!!
You are very talented!
Hope they bring some comfort.

BecauseImAWerewolefIt · 24/10/2011 19:58

You are all so, so clever. Those blankets are works of art.

NellVarnish · 24/10/2011 19:59

Oh those blankies are FABULOUS! You have done a wonderful job hooking them together. I am in awe of everyone's squares, they're fantastic, with initials and angels and allsorts. Marvellisimo!

I'm sure they will be treasured.

RatherBeKnownAsALooseHooker · 24/10/2011 20:07

The blanket is just beautiful. Absolutely lovely. A big woolly hug for Whatever.

Well done everyone for totally gorgeoise squares, you are all so bloomin clever! And Thanks to you Knotty for hooking it together x

LadyWellian · 24/10/2011 20:08

Beautiful work, all, and sublime hooking Grin

I sense there may be more than one MNer out there who has the same book of knitted squares as me.

If the person who did the diagonal square with the two hearts on it is watching, I demand you share the pattern with me. Please.

Knotty is that Banquo? English literature is so long ago now.

CuntryManner · 24/10/2011 20:23

Knotty & Piste (parcel piste!) have sent you a text message.

purplewerepidj · 24/10/2011 20:49

Wow, gorgeoise pics indeed!

Howl, we make every attempt to use the squares for the person they were knitted for. Don't forget there are three blankets for Magic on the go - Lydia and I haven't done any pics yet Blush

LadyW I very much am might be mistaken but I think it's on www.ravelry.com??

bushymcbush · 24/10/2011 21:48

Are you certain you don't want them blocked? My squares have gone all rolled up at the edges Blush and I thought blocking would fix it, though I haven't done it yet.

Also please remind me of the deadline, and how do I find out where to send them?

RatherBeKnownAsALooseHooker · 24/10/2011 21:50
Smile

Evening and cheers! Wine Wine Wine Wine

I have responded to all PMs and texts. Many thanks everyone.

Deadline for squares to me is this Friday please Grin
Please PM me for the address when you are ready.

Thanks
purplewerepidj · 24/10/2011 21:52

Bushy, blocking makes the little holes between yarn smaller (slightly) so it can be harder to get a hook through to attach them together. The squares get pulled into shape because they're surrounded by friends Smile

androbbob · 24/10/2011 22:22

My precious squares were released into the big wild world today (well packaged up carefully and send to pistey via Royal Mail). I do hope they arrive ok. I did get a bit worried when I read earlier in the thread that pistey was planning on kidnapping some granny squares and passing them off as her own, as two of my three are granny squares, but then I remembered how bad the first one is Blush. They are a lovely sade of deep purple / plum colour - so beware!!

androbbob · 24/10/2011 22:23

Also I do not have a clue what 'blocking' is, but I did sew in the ends of the squares Grin

purplewerepidj · 24/10/2011 22:26

Don't, whatever you do, google it. It's worse than dragon butter. It involves ironing

ShakeThyGoryKnottyLocks · 24/10/2011 22:46

Welli, it is indeed Macbeth when he see's Banquo's ghost [hgrin]

duchesse · 24/10/2011 22:54

Must say I'm intrigued by the new spelling of gorgeous that's evolving on this thread. Is it a term of a appreciation for a particularly beautiful shade of greeny-blue?

ShakeThyGoryKnottyLocks · 25/10/2011 07:56

Duchesse, it's because of Pistey: she's posh.

GhoulsGhouls · 25/10/2011 08:25

Ah, a Posh Hooker well that's a completely different thing [hgrin]

purplewerepidj · 25/10/2011 08:31

We are the Gorgeoisie. Middle class and making beautiful things Grin

skinnymuffin · 25/10/2011 18:49

Oh I love that! Gorgeoisie! I am shamelessly pinching that word, pidj Thanks

purplewerepidj · 25/10/2011 20:38

It's Pistey Loosey Hooker's word, I just added the definition Wink

OpheliaBumps · 25/10/2011 21:06

LooseHooker there are 2 squares on the way to you, with a little treat for you inside as well.

I don't know how I went wrong with my tension, both are an official pattern but they came out different sizes - not drastically and I'm sure they can be teased into shape when they're hooked together, but I was rather mortified when I realised.

Lesson for next time - don't mix diagonal increase/decrease style squares with cast on 33 sts & knit style squares Grin

Right, back to the moomaids I've promised to make for the DTs!
