Following on from the blanket for Magic8 which is under construction, we'd like to offer one to Whatevertheweather who has recently lost her baby daughter.

I know there is already an army of knitters and crocheters and donors out there; would anyone be able to join us?

Am so happy to read happy news Smile

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 20/09/2011 15:13

I'm so pleased for CupOfTea - and I hope she gets to spend lots of lovely time with her new baby, extra specially so after such a terrifying start!

Star for the mini-KnotMonster!

Ivy now has X's blanket, I have B's and the other one should be arriving with Lydia shortly. There's a central design of 8 we're going to try to stick to involving the initials, angel, Mum, bear and cat squares - Knotty, have you contacted Lydia about that or shall I?

Ivy is in contact with Magic's sister, so if the blankets make there way to me for delivery to her then they'll be discreetly passed on at an appropriate moment Smile

Hello Pidj Grin

I posted Lydia's squares earlier today so hopefully she will have them tomorrow if not the day after. I have PMed her to try to explain the central 8 and tried to link to the photos. No idea if it worked or not! [techno duffer]

Perhaps you should contact her too. Just in case.

DutchOma · 20/09/2011 17:10

Oh, what happy news about Cupoftea's baby. So pleased for her.

Georgimama · 20/09/2011 17:20

what lovely news. I have to say when I saw the beautiful photo of Beatrice cupoftea put on her profile I thought "that baby looks ever so alert and well, healthy" but reasoned I had no idea what I was talking about.

SoupDragon · 20/09/2011 21:06

I managed to post my squares today :)

TinyPawz · 20/09/2011 21:16

That is fantastic news for CupOfTea and her family.

KnottyLocks · 21/09/2011 07:02

I have my proper job today so won't be adding squares to the shout outs thread until later in the day.

KnottyLocks · 21/09/2011 18:32

Donors

If your knitter or crocheteer has sent me their squares, I have posted your name on the Woolly Thank You thread.

SoupDragon · 21/09/2011 18:48

Knotty, ywil have noticed that I badly stitched an S on one of the bears. Also did an E but it was so appalling I unpicked it :o I couldnt do enough bears for all the Cheese children

SoupDragon · 21/09/2011 18:49

Ywil?? you will.

Damn iPad.

KnottyLocks · 22/09/2011 07:10

Thought you were being cool with 'ywil', Soupy Grin

Don't worry, there are plenty of bears. One on each blanket is great. Thanks. The stitching is absolutely fine, you daft bugger. Grin

SoupDragon · 22/09/2011 11:03

You didn't see the E :o

I had mad plans to have one for each child so they could all be together IYSWIM. I do have more wool now so could, in theory, make 3(?) more for the Cheeses...

I also had mad plans to put angel wings on the ones for Erin and Scarlett but couldn't fathom out how to do it.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 22/09/2011 16:05

yes, I have squares.. pidj, could you write up the join pattern for me again, please? :)

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 22/09/2011 16:43

To join squares:

With Right Sides facing, hook through corner stitches, draw up a loop, tie the loose end to the side of the loop it's attached to with a reef knot. Tighten loop and DC across, weaving in the end as you go.

To edge the finished blanket:

Join wool as above. HTC along until you get to a join or corner. HTC in last st of square, ch 3, sl st in 1st st of next square (or same st if at a corner). Wiggle around and sl st in previous HTC. In the loop you just made: HTC, HExTC, 2 ExTC, 2 HTC, picot, 2 HTC, 2 ExTC, HExTC, HTC. HTC along until the next place you want to put a heart!

Abbreviations:
DC = Double Crochet
HTC = Half Treble Crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Ch = chain
HExTC = Half Extended Treble Crochet - yarn over twice, through st, yo, pull through st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through remaining loops.
ExTC = Extended Treble Corchet - yo twice, through st, yo, pull through st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through final 2 loops

If anybody would like to tell me what those last two are really called, I'd love to know!!! Grin

KnottyLocks · 22/09/2011 16:46

I'll be using glue.

SoupDragon · 22/09/2011 17:01

The last one is a US treble crochet isn't it? Which would be a UK what... Quadruple crochet? The second to last one would be a half whatever the last one was!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/09/2011 17:30

Yes Soupy, I think you are right......

KnottyLocks · 22/09/2011 17:39

Piste, the crochet expert Grin

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 22/09/2011 17:46

Well, that's how I think of it. But then, what's an Extended Treble Crochet???

I just knot wool into pretty things. I don't like labels Angry
