Following on from the blanket for Magic8 which is under construction, we'd like to offer one to Whatevertheweather who has recently lost her baby daughter.

I know there is already an army of knitters and crocheters and donors out there; would anyone be able to join us?

Sizewise, how about roughly 12cm across the top for the triangles but longer than they are wide... 14cm?? I do like a triangle that isn't quite even.

NB, I am an ignorant novice!

LadyW - Ive just tried that triangle and it reduces too quickly iyswim. There's very little length to it. If you were to knit one row and reduce on alternate rows?

I've just tried out a crochet bunt but can't find my tape measure. Where would a 4 year old put it?

Ok, it's 12cm/5" across the top by the same deep.

Welli, I think as long as the top width is more or less the same, it might be quite nice to have the knitted bunts slightly longer.

Let's face it, with different crafters working with different tensions, it's highly unlikely that the bunts would be identical anyway.

The crochet bunt looks good. I'm going to post the pattern on the thread.

be careful how you type bunt.

I think if you give people the size to work to, they can adjust their own Bunt to match the size depending on tension and wool.

If any of you contributed to the blanket we made for Blondes, we met with her yesterday to give her the blanket. She's started a thread here, thanking you

Oops, sorry, not been on all weekend. Pistey I think every other row would be best, and probably should have said so. Don't know what I was thinking Grin

If we want the bunts (is that really a word) to be 5in at the top, we'll need more stitches though, more like 24 (guessing).

These are based on your standard double knitting wool and 4mm needles (i.e. what we have been using for the blankets). Thinner wool needs smaller needles and more stitches; fatter wool the opposite.

Soup you could start from the point and increase, but increasing is much harder than decreasing!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/10/2011 13:55

I can only increase stitches accidentally!

Another blanket may be necessary Chipmokeys baby dd has died.there is a thread in chat.Sad

I've already been asked, I'm waiting for Knotty to get back to me as to whether there'll be spare squares.

If not, then the baton will have to pass to someone new. There are 5 blankets and a bunting project underway, we can't ask Knotty to take any more on, it wouldn't be fair to her Sad
