I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

I wish I could knit, but I'll buy a ball of wool.

Those photos are beautiful pidj.

Maybe we could have the girls' initials on some squares, I have no idea if that is possible but they are I, R, B and X. And an 8 for magic8?

I still can't believe it.

I can knit and crochet, will PM Ivy about it. My LO is due in 2 weeks and planning a trip to JL tomorrow to pick up a couple of items so I will hopefully be able to pick up some wool then. Hoping LO will stay put long enough for me to do this. I didn't know Magic 8, but tbh I don't really post in many of the threads.

nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 14:49

I'd love to help again.

I've still got some of the wool from last time (i was hoping I wouldn't need it again :( )

I'm learning to do bobble squares in crochet, so I'll try to do my square/s like that.

nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 14:52

Lydia - that's a lovely offer. :)

PinotsKittens · 18/08/2011 14:54

My wool ordered and on it's way to SongBird.

I've also asked the comapny that if they have any spare they can donate as it's for such a good cause.

Just wish it wasn't necessary :(

100years · 18/08/2011 14:55

lydia I missed your post. I will PM you :)

lydiathetattooedlady · 18/08/2011 14:56

im just glad to help. Without wanting to go off track my brother died 3 years ago aged 11, my mum made a patch work blanket out of his old clothes, it really does help her having it. It should be his birthday today, he would be 14, seems a bit like i was meant to be on this thread. (im not weird i promise!)

toomuchteaching · 18/08/2011 14:58

Oh lydia I'm sorry. Thank you for your generous offer, I'm sure the family will appreciate it.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 18/08/2011 14:59

Thanks Pinot x

Not the least bit weird, Lydia. I'm praying that you will find some comfort in contributing to the blanket for another bereaved family.

rushofbloodtothefeet · 18/08/2011 15:04

lydia so sorry about your brother, how lovely of you to be helping someone else out at this time.

Hope you got my PM with address, think we might have cross posted?

BupcakesandCunting · 18/08/2011 15:06

Sorry to be a knitting numpty but... just rang the haberdashers in my village and she stocks Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. Is this the same as the cashmerino that purple linked to in the OP?

QueenofJacksDreams · 18/08/2011 15:07

I'm expecting some JL vouchers at the end of the month so will pick up some wool then with them I'm so sorry for Magic's family Sad

ReindeerBollocks · 18/08/2011 15:12

I've got a couple of squares knocking about from last time, if you want them? They were for another persons blanket but I sent the first few batches then found these later.

I can also drop off/post wool to any MNetter who wants to contribute.

Please can I have the address to send them to - or is it the same as last time?

ReindeerBollocks · 18/08/2011 15:12

I also send my condolences to Magics children and husband at this time.

BupcakesandCunting · 18/08/2011 15:27

Right, have just bought a ball of Rowan Cashsoft in Baby Blue. Hope this is OK. Will send it to my crafter asap.

harassedandherbug · 18/08/2011 15:34

I've just pm'd Ivy offering to knit.

Such a lovely thing everyone is doing. I didn't "know" Magic8 but had seen her around on the Preg boards, and hers was such a happy ending. It gave me such hope after my two mc's so close together.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 18/08/2011 15:38

buppy I don't think the Baby wool is the same as the normal double knit, but purplepidjin will know more

thank you again to everyone, I have just managed to catch up with all the pms and have matched 15 pairs of donors/crafters already, with a few more still waiting. this truly is MN at its best.

ThoseArentSpiritFingers · 18/08/2011 15:39

looked at photos of previous blankets, beautiful idea, im sure this one will be just as nice.

pinkthechaffinch · 18/08/2011 15:49

I've just pm'ed you too, Ivy. I can knit and would like to help, although I didn't 'know' the poor lady.

FriskyBivalves · 18/08/2011 15:59

I can knit and would love to do a square. Is it knit one purl
One? Will try to pick up 4pm needles this weekend if I don't have any, plus some wool. Count me in...
