Are there any objections if I use the leftover wool from the Edgar and Rindercella blankets to make something for Blondes? I've got loads! Anyone with leftovers feel free to pm me about either sending it on or sending more squares :)

Nice one Oma, but how do we choose which and where? Naomi and Julia Houses round here are also excellent candidates.

www.brads.org.uk and www.lisasstars.org.uk are two I already support and are national, and I've got a couple of items in a friend's auction for SANDS at the moment (carlisa crafts on facebook)

Let's come up with a list here, then ask folk to vote? Then post in the Ebay forum for someone with the know how to do a charity listing?

I have knitted for SANDS and they want small white blankets to go in there memory boxes. I don't know whether they would one suares blanet, but you could ask them.

purplepidjin · 11/06/2011 21:35

I though we could make more money auctioning it and donating the cash? A lot of NICU's can't accept crocheted blankets because of the holes Sad

Plus then we could put stuff like the RSPCA, CRUSE or NSPCC in the mix? Opinions please Smile

You

Need

A

New

Thread!

PrettyCandles · 12/06/2011 01:01

A bereavement charity would be appropriate, eg Winston's Wish.

purplepidjin · 12/06/2011 06:59

Pistey, I need someone to deal with this because I can't

Cheers, Pretty Star

Ok, so far we have:

Winston's Wish - www.winstonswish.org.uk/ - children's bereavement support

SANDS - www.uk-sands.org/ - Stillbirth and neonatal bereavement support

NSPCC - www.nspcc.org.uk - child protection

Women's Aid - www.womensaid.org.uk - domestic violence

I'll pop over to the ebay bit in a mo and ask for someone to list it when it's done.

Oi Pidj, PMed you.

Morning, btw Grin

PrettyCandles · 12/06/2011 08:11

While NSPCC, WA etc are very good causes, this all started specifically to try and bring some comfort and support to bereaved dc and siblings, and, TBH, I would like to try and maintain that connection. (Sorry Blondes, I know it's different for you Sad)

KnottyLocks · 12/06/2011 08:24

Pretty Candles, I agree with you in the respect that the charity should have some connection to our original aim or be connected to those we have made blankets for, e.g. Marie Curie, Macmillan, CLIC.

purplepidjin · 12/06/2011 08:28

Agreed, I'm just chucking suggestions around before we start a chat thread iyswim

If we agree 3 options, then the outsiders can pick one of our choices

Have caught dp's cold, am at work and it's pissing with rain which one of the dudes hates. And when he's unhappy he sometimes lashes out. So apologies for any grumpiness!

We need another thread very soon, look how many posts!

However to give us some time to think this through carefully, lets have a follow-on thread from this rather than a hurried decision before we run out of posts.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2011 08:59

im still honoured to have a blanket, though obv wish that i didnt :( so any charity is fine by me -

either something to do with children would be nice - i often support demelza house or the charity I chose for people to donate to instead of flowers for marks funeral was royal marsden hospital as they helped marks uncle to have a further 7mths once diagnosised with leukemia - he sadly died 2 years ago but there site seems to be down at the moment :(

purplepidjin · 12/06/2011 11:25

I wish you didn't too Sad

On the flipside, it's all together and I might get it finished by the end of my shift.

Pidj - do you want me to start you a new thread then, or is knotty on it? You don't want to fall off the end without somewhere to go!

purplepidjin · 12/06/2011 12:31

Yes please if you're up for being the organiser! Are we going for SANDS, demelza house and CLIC as our three options?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/06/2011 12:52
