Fabric Quilt for Edgar: How to help

Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

I have to say, although in the most heartbreaking circumstances, this is a lovely thing to be part of. I just wish there was more we could do.

I'm cheating, Knotty - someone's using my whole piece so I didn't even have to cut out, never mind sew.

Had me a panicking there, Cagey .

I'm very aware I'm doing a lot of talking and no blumming sewing.

I just need to zigzag the edges then I can post mine. Thank you Pixie for the address :)

Is there anyway we will all be able to see the finished quilt? It would be so lovely to see how all the pieces that everyone has been talking about look together.

I'll make sure I take pics of the woolly one, never fear!

I bought some lovely Very Hungry Caterpillar material and an applique butterfly to sew onto it - will get the fabric washed and get the sewing done on Sunday/Monday (depending on when my weekend visitors leave).

Had to swallow very hard to avoid sobbing all the way round Hobbycraft.

I just have to iron my squares & then I will pop them in the post later. I put a little pic on my profile, pre ironing!

Thank you all so much. I was actually worried it wouldn't be good enough as everyone seems to know what they are talking about & I have done very little quilting/applique. Squares are in the post, hope they get there but they are in the hands of Royal Mail now!!

Youaretheone - thank you for comments on my DD. :) She is my whole world & a similar age to Edgars DS which is why I couldn't read the Edgars story & not want to do something for them.

Could somebody please pm me the address so I can send one in. Are we adding our MN names to them or not?

And I know what you mean about everyone seems to know what they are talking about. Can I reassure you that I for one am far better at the talking bit. Ideas beyond my skills most of the time
