Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

Details regarding posting, etc, to follow.

Many thanks.

I have nearly finished, just the bodies of the butterflies to embroider. Might have to leave that til tomorrow, I hate working in artificial light! Wish I could do more, but I unfortunately ahve work to do for DH this week!

I've heard from the Edgars. They are so very touched by all your efforts.

To add some more ideas, Leo also loved:

the Haahoos and Pinky Ponk from the Night Garden

Space ships

Trains

and Bertie Bus.

They love the idea of all the flowers, daisies and balloons and also incorporating Leo's name.

Mr Edgar also said he will be uploading a photo of Leo onto his profile.

Knotty,

Have just sent Pixie a pm - thank you for the reminder.

KnottyLocks · 22/03/2011 21:57

Ta, Morsbagmum.

Blatherskite, could you PM Pixie too, to let her know you're doing a square and with your address? Many thanks. Love the sound of that balloon.

Oh, I've just seen the photo. Just incredibly lovely and heartbreaking - makes me want to pick up my own blond toddler out of bed and just hug him forever.

KnottyLocks · 22/03/2011 22:15

Me too, Habbibu. Leo's photo has taken my breath away. So very lovely. Sad. I also have a little blond son.
It is truly heartbreaking.

I have some lovely light green fabric with roads and cars/buses on that I've been hoarding. I think/hope it will go with what others have mentioned, if anyone thinks not let me know though!

Hello. Do squares need to be wadded, or is it just the top square we're doing? Probably being overly pedantic, but thought it best to check. I assume it's ok to get in on this one?

BerryLellow · 23/03/2011 13:15

Did you get my PM Pixie? I've been out and bought some bits today, so will see what I come up with.

The photos really do blow you away, I too have a blonde toddler boy, and he and his brother are my life.

TheBossofMe · 23/03/2011 13:33

Hello - I'm posting from Bangkok, and am sewing by hand after work (ie not a lot of free time but will sew as quickly as I can), so it might be 2-3 weeks before you get your squares from me? Is that OK?

Needle, we're doing just the top square. Quilting will be done by our very lovely expert 'Mrs Quilter' once she has all the squares.

TheBossofMe, I think Pixie was thinking of a deadline for 2 weeks ...ish, no doubt she'll confirm or deny that soon. It will of course take a while to piece it all together so I'd say go for it and get them posted as soon as you can.
