Just got this email - on how to request access

Update on Stand With Maya!

This week I finished writing my seventh witness statement in this case, and we assembled the fifth bundle of evidence. My lawyers wrote their fourth opening statement, and I am preparing to be cross-examined for the third time.
I am claiming for compensation for injury to feelings, aggravated damages, lost earnings and future earnings.
The tribunal will be the same panel as before, and the hearing will be online.
If you would like to watch you should email in advance to [email protected]k_ — the email subject should be PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST - Forstater v CGDE & Ors 2200909/2019 - 21 and 22 March.

This morning will be given over to reading with witnesses starting from 2pm this afternoon. I think.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 21/03/2023 10:23

Which is to be expected if the panel members were sent documents at 18:00 yesterday.

Judge a bit pissed off already

OP posts:
nauticant · 21/03/2023 10:26

Judge Glennie very pissed off that the hearing is being used to negotiate practical matters that should have been sorted out beforehand.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 10:28

We're at the point of the hearing (already!) with the judge in the role of exasperated parents dealing with squabbling 8 and 9 year olds.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 21/03/2023 10:30

I don't understand the problem. The names and salaries of some people need to be anonymised, right? That makes sense to me.

What's the argument about?

nauticant · 21/03/2023 10:32

This kind of thing is usually about the scope of the anonymisation where at one extreme so much is missing the public can't really follow what's being discussed.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 10:32

Back at 2pm.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 21/03/2023 10:33

Thanks nauticant, that makes sense.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 10:38

It's also a freedom of argument point. The point about comparators is to work out how similar (or not) example employees are to Maya Forstater. If you anonymise completely stripping away just about all characteristics that can be discussed, her counsel could struggle to make his case.

I think practicalities? It'll mean going through the 3000 page bundle and stripping out names and replacing them with codes, when that bundle and those names are already in public.

(And I agree that info should be private)

lifeturnsonadime · 21/03/2023 10:42

Just checking in here as I won't be able to log in to the hearing itself.

Flowers Maya, you are amazing.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 21/03/2023 10:46

I was going to follow along here and with TT as I haven't been organised enough to request access this time, but emailed as reconvening was announced and had an email back with access within a minute!

Just mentioning in case anyone else thought they had left it too late.

KCandtheSunlightBand · 21/03/2023 11:04

I’ve never been able to log on to one of these, due to working. However I could be off of work tomorrow! I’m not very good at the tech, can ones personal details be seen or dredged up by anyone so inclined?

chilling19 · 21/03/2023 11:07

KC - when you log in you can put initials so can be anon

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 21/03/2023 11:56

I'm looking forward to hearing this (a whole year since it all got going) and was sent my log-in earlier today for the 2pm start.

re: PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST - Forstater v CGDE & Ors 2200909/2019 - 21 and 22 March

nauticant · 21/03/2023 14:02

Back in the room. Counsel have agreed a way forward over anonymity. The bundle cannot be further redacted.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 14:05

First witness, Maya Forstater.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 14:07

Ben Cooper taking MF through the bundle. Seeing how a properly put together bundle makes things run smoothly makes clear quite how much time and energy was needlessly consumed in Allison Bailey's case.

😂😂
Careful, now!

Madcats · 21/03/2023 14:22

If people nip over to Tribunal Tweets on Twitter then can admire Nina Paley's playing card of Maya. Is Ben going to be in the deck at all, I wonder? What about fox murderer?

ArabellaScott · 21/03/2023 14:46

thanks for the updates, nauticant. I can't watch this week so it's really appreciated.

nauticant · 21/03/2023 15:00

I can't really provide much. This is very dry being concerned with the nature of Maya's job and the particularly circumstances of how she was let go. In order to argue over the damages that should be awarded.
