Terrible news

Good. Awful woman. Has no business being at the forefront of the movement.

Ronaldos · Yesterday 15:36

That's so sad. She was badly let down by her union. All the Darlington Nurses Union is better

heathspeedwell · Yesterday 15:37

Given how the RCN very clearly demonstrated that they are habitually incompetent, it was relatively easy for them to convince a judge that their incompetence in Sandie's case wasn't due to her protected beliefs.

We have seen the NHS forced to release info they would rather have not.

Sandie thank you for your courage.

That’s hardly the point, is it?

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · Yesterday 15:49

Seriously after the shit show they put her through. 🤯

What were the reasons given?

Of course it is. She's a vile bigot and has been shown as such. She has done nothing but harm sensible gender criticals in this country by becoming the face of a movement when she's been so openly racist and homophobic.

Lexibletheflexible · Yesterday 15:54

Ive just read all about Peggie's self admitted "dark humour".

Whether she is awful or not has not got anything to do with the legality of her case (or anyone else’s).

"Her case against the RCN centred on three allegations: that it failed to advise her about potential discrimination claims, refused to fund legal representation for a second tribunal claim, and failed to seek sufficient assurances about single-sex workplace facilities.
The tribunal found that RCN official Stuart Fraser had acted consistently with normal procedures when initially advising Peggie following her suspension in January 2024.
It also accepted the explanation of Norman Provan, the union official responsible for authorising legal assistance in Scotland, who refused to support a second claim because Ms Peggie had already instructed independent lawyers.
The judge found that Provan had applied the same approach to comparable cases over 18 years and that his decision was unrelated to Ms Peggie's protected beliefs.
The tribunal also rejected allegations concerning the RCN's response to requests for assurances about female-only changing facilities and protection for staff holding gender-critical beliefs.
It found that union official Gillian Tait had contacted NHS Fife and sought relevant assurances, although she had not circulated the correspondence to the wider RCN membership as Ms Peggie requested.
The judgment concluded: "The claimant's complaints of direct discrimination do not succeed and are dismissed."
The ruling follows Ms Peggie's victory in separate proceedings against NHS Fife in December 2025, when a tribunal upheld harassment complaints against the health board relating to its handling of the changing-room dispute and subsequent disciplinary process.
However, other claims against NHS Fife were dismissed, along with all claims against Dr Upton."

Bad news all-round for the fact-challenged Nurse.

ItsCoolForCats · Yesterday 15:59

I wasn't hopeful about this one, but it's disappointing all the same.

PrettyLittleRose · Yesterday 15:59

I don't know who this is. Can you put a link to the story @RhannionKPSS ?

I suspect her lesbian daughter would disagree with the latter claim and, to repeat my point, neither her views nor (anyone’s opinion of) her character are relevant to whether or not she was discriminated against.

Indulge me, tho. Who do you personally consider to be a “sensible gender critical”?

CorvusPurpureus · Yesterday 16:03

I think if I were a nurse working in the UK, my takeaway from this case would be that the RCN are useless fuckers, & furthermore, their defence against future criticism would be that they are consistently useless fuckers, so couldn’t be expected to do a decent job of supporting their member even if they weren’t simultaneously captured by TRA lunacy.

& then I’d be reconsidering my subs.

Meanwhile, the sunlight continues to stream in, so brava, Sandie.

DworkinWasRight · Yesterday 16:05

This is bad news for the thousands of women who have been let down by their trade unions.

bellinisurge · Yesterday 16:06

Feminism includes all women. Even the ones you don’t like. But does not include men - whether “doll” or “brick”

All the major unions are full of useless fuckers captured by TRA lunacy. One of these useless fuckers supposedly representing nurses basically shrugged and said doctors are considered more important.

Are you under the impression that people with gay children can't be homophobic? Sandie disproves that helpfully. Or perhaps it's just gay men (or 'its' as she refers to them) that she's homophobic against.

Single sex spaces should be a right for all - even bigots like Sandie. Putting someone who makes sickening racist jokes and finds them amusing as the face of Gender Critical campaigning was an awful decision. But no amount of bigotry will see her called out by the masses on here because she's vocally transphobic and not just GC.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Yesterday 16:09

We will see if there is an appeal. The EAT case in the original case against NHS Fife is happening next year with further claims also against the senior management at Fife coming, so Sandie isn’t backing down any time soon.

Veilsofmorning · Yesterday 16:09

Which ‘movement’ do you believe she was /is allegedly the face off?
And isn’t it a bit shameful to engage in virulent defamation behind an anonymous user name?
Please don’t pretend you care about ‘gender critical’ (your term) people.

You do realise that truth is an absolute defence to defamation? So which part of what I've written is defamatory?

DabOfPistachio · Yesterday 16:13

So my reading is that she's lost because they managed to prove that they have let down a lot of other nurses who have been discriminated against for a variety of reasons and not just her.
Not sure that's a win to be proud of. If I were in nursing, I'd be very hesitant to give them any kind of money. What would be the point?
As for whether she is the right person for this case, that is the same age old misogyny rearing its ugly head. Call a woman a witch first (or bitch or slut or terf of whatever) then use it to justify abuse or discrimination.
It is irrelevant as to whether she is naughty or nice.

I'm sure they'll be an appeal. Anything to keep the gravy train rolling so the nurse doesn't have to bother working!

Seriously, they won because they said she wasn't the only one they let down. (paraphrasing of course). FFS
