And I wouldn't allow a racist homophobe near me or my children. So it's probably for the best that Sandie isn't working as a nurse.

Still no answer to what movement??! Quelle surprise! This poster is only interested in being goady, not in actually answering awkward questions.

Where did she say that?

Her lesbian daughter and her girlfriend fully support her. Because the real homophobia is trans ideology.

Edited

It's hilarious isn't it. Some people are so blinded by hatred that they absolutely genuinely believe one comment many years ago has more authority about a person's character and values than the way that person demonstrably lives their life every day.

I guess that's not so surprising though when we are talking about an ideology that seeks to place statements of identity over day to day reality.

Yeah, it’s difficult, isn’t it? I can see that she didn’t specifically say “ I need legal advice” in which case they would’ve been obliged to sort that out

But I would hope that a union would look at the legal situation

I’m not sure what to think

It seems like the guy who answered the phone Was just giving the Advice that he would give in any internal dispute and he was dealing with the situation where Dr Upton officially had the right to be in the changing room.

So with all that in mind, it looks like the union have done their job. But that makes it strange that the lawyers took on the case, I mean specifically on these points.

Edited

I think that the advice she was given was poor, because the union guy couldn't see the big picture beyond the internal dispute. At the end of the day, there is no use paying your subs if front-line union staff aren't trained properly or given quick access to competent legal teams that are up-to-date on relevant laws.

I suspect her lesbian daughter would disagree with the latter claim and, to repeat my point, neither her views nor (anyone’s opinion of) her character are relevant to whether or not she was discriminated against.

Indulge me, tho. Who do you personally consider to be a “sensible gender critical”?

Who do you personally consider to be a “sensible gender critical”?

Ooo I know this one! ( leaving aside the unpleasant dehumanising of using gender critical as a noun 🙄)

It's a person who holds gender critical views but never ever ever expresses them out of consideration for how said views might distress a trans person.

It's a person who very reasonably wants sports and prisons to be single sex but is never gauche enough to say so, or to explain why this should be necessary.

It's a person who secretly hopes the loud and nasty gender critical feminists will speak up and sort things out so they can loudly condemn said feminists in public for their bad and nasty ways while benefitting from said women's efforts.

Schrodinger's gender criticism. Absolutely ok as long as it remains undetectable.

and Upton had already previously told a court under oath he felt entitled to treat women asking for a female HCP only for an intimate procedure, as a “woman”, because biological sex is a nebulous dog whistle or something.

Thank you - Upton said this under oath. Hope @lacksie is able to come and school us on this awful statement.

Aren’t they arguing that they weren’t asked to look at it? I mean they weren’t asked to look at the bigger picture so the guy who answered the phone Answered the questions with the information that he had at the time.

Oh look, the usual cult members have joined up thread to tell us annoying women to wheesht. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Probably already here, some arguments are soooo familiar.

Is she working as a nurse again?

I was just wondering seeing as she's now an established racist wouldn't this affect her ability to do her job? Fife does has some multi-culturism and it is understandable if many foreign patients may not wish to be seen by her.

She had a good old guffaw at a flood in Pakistan for example that killed 1,700 but if she has any patients who lost family members there may not find it as funny as she does.

‘Foreign’? Careful now, your ignorance is showing.
Using the term ‘foreign’ when talking about a group of people, usually of a different nationality, race or colour, is problematic because it labels individuals an “other” who does not belong or is not welcome. Some could arguably claim it is a term frequently used by racists.

On the other thread. They’re familiar because these people mostly crowdsource their talking points on Reddit and BlueSky.

It’s a bit of a weird construction for a supposed “progressive”.

She was "relentless in her nastiness" to the point that other colleagues stopped communication with her.

Ordinary people do not share their wishes to post bacon through a Mosque's letterbox, nor mock Pakistani flood victims' deaths. Nor do they use racist language and slurs, say they are 'devastated' by their daughter coming out and seek advice on how to 'cope' with a gay relative.

It may be what you're used to but I can quite assure you that no decent people engage in any such conduct.

I don't think it's fair to talk about her private reaction to her child coming out. I think it is full of complexities. The rest of what you say is what makes her a questionable person.

I'm sure they'll be an appeal. Anything to keep the gravy train rolling so the nurse doesn't have to bother working!

Are you in severe pain? Or have you just been fired? Perhaps you've just had a bereavement? I honestly can't think of another reason why you would be quite so snarlingly vituperative about someone you've (presumably) never met.

I think that's a bizarre statement to make on Mumsnet.

It sits awkwardly with the attitude that only nice people deserve rights, doesn't it?

You realise that in this part of the site alone, people often express extreme negativity towards people they've never met based on their perception of their beliefs and/or lifestyle?

Basically, people generally speak poorly about those who are not GC and positively about people who are GC. That includes making assertions about the character because of their beliefs on sex and gender. That's the theme here.

Or people speak negatively of those who actively want to strip women of their hard fought rights to single sex spaces and sports, and positively of the ones who don’t?

Is that what you mean?

Why are you tagging me? So you can tell me off for "derailing" when I reply? And demand I take it elsewhere or get off mumsnet entirely and attend to my kids?

I honestly can't figure out what on earth it is that you want..

nutmeg7 · Yesterday 19:46

BlueLegume · Yesterday 18:33

What an utterly horrible response @alcovecupboards. Made worse by the fact you were the first responder. Do you know Sandie personally? Do you think the RCN union acted in good faith or are you so en thrall to trans that you are blinded. I do not want a HCP treating me who does not believe in reality of sex - immutable and reality of sex - biological.

What ‘movement?’

There’s a lot of gleeful spite on show, isn’t there? Not the first time I’ve seen this nastiness.

The point is that person was seemingly shocked at someone casting assertions on someone's character for their views on sex and gender. So I'm glad you agree that is a thing here and nobody should be surprised if someone who isn't GC does the same.

I guess my point is that it isn't for a nurse to google the law before she talks to her union. The union guy should be able to look at what the nurse is telling him about the suspension and notice that she might actually have a claim against her employer herself. If he didn't have enough information to notice that, then maybe that is because he didn't ask the right questions.

And do you realise I was referring to the level of shear spite against Nurse Peggie from certain posters?
As a certain group of posters would say, ‘do try to keep up’.

Yes I know what you were referring to. That is why I am saying that level of spite is regualrly directed towards people they've never met who hold opposing views on this issue around here. How is that anything new?
