There's been a spate of threads recently about things JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on. Wouldn't it be easier to put them all in a single thread?

I'll start.

JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on the Manchester City fraud scandal.

I don't know whether I will be able to post this sensitive image...

That is the coolest thing!!! 😀I love spiders...

Oh. my. god.

In general I am pro spider (indoctrinated by Charlotte's Web) but that's just WRONG.

Ok, I've calmed down. They are under a centimetre long and that's perfectly fine.

Not the Shelob or Aragog I was picturing.

I'm back to Team Spider.

I'm not usually a massive fan of spiders, but that is just the most beautiful thing in the world (well, joint most beautiful with the rest of nature's stunning miracles).

So although JKR has managed to comment, I think she should be ashamed of the negativity and HATE she is showering on this most persecuted minority.

This is an outrage! Why hasn't JKR commented on this thread's title ending with a preposition!

Chersfrozenface · 16/10/2026 10:59

Ending a sentence with a preposition is perfectly acceptable in Germanic languages. Which English is, albeit one heavily influenced by other tongues.

So for once we can let JKR off.

I love the idea of Strike dipping a toe into the world of Mumsnet. Probably getting his arse handed to him on his first thread.

"That is pedantry, up with which I will not put."

Churchill.

Well thanks to this, I now also know about the Bird Dropping Spider, which disguises itself as - well, you guessed.

Churchill.

Pedant on

Not actually a Churchill quotation.

The joke first appeared on July 31, 1941, in The West Sussex Gazette, featuring an unnamed high school English teacher.

It was repeated with no reference to Churchill in at least 6 publications between 1941 and 1943. It wasn't specifically attributed to him by name until 1944, in an Australian newspaper.

Pedant off

A myth that could have been put to bed years ago if JKR had bothered speak out. 😡

Boiledbeetle · 16/10/2026 14:02

The beep has stopped.

However I could have sworn I saw JKR dropping off a pack of AA batteries to the beep house earlier.

DP often makes pies from leftovers. They then go into the freezer unlabelled, and are produced by me as pie surprise while I have fish, which he doesn't eat.

She has not apologised that yesterday's random selection seemed to have been made from the same thing as wed had for dinner fresh the day before (not had it for a month, so the one had been there for some time) and he'd had for lunch as leftovers.

I had 3 to choose from. She definitely cast a spell to make me pick that one.

Some people just like to spoil a good story. 😒😁

Unfortunately for me it would be hypocritical to complain.
