Silence on Cornell

So… about J.K. Rowling. And the Cornell Seven, but we will get to that.

Here’s the thing: I liked Harry Potter growing up. It was the first and only chapter book my mom read to me, and I learned to read so I could read the second on my own after she refused to so so (for my own benefit).
Each year I was in school, there was a new book. I loved that they grew in depth as the characters aged. Yes, there were problems and problematic characters, but that’s a later subject.

I soured on Harry Potter when JKR kept adding things from the Pottermore website as canon: making Dumbledore gay was fine and easy to see in the book (see Grindelwald!), but the thing I hated was making Dumbledore in love with Harry
The greatest wizard of an age, hero and mentor to our protagonist… was revealed to be a pedophile in the post-script.
That’s shitty. My appreciation for the series soured after that, because suddenly the only “gay” representation is predatory and a heinous crime at that.

Fast forward a few years, and we see JKR’s anti-trans stance. Why? “Because she’s protecting real women!” She’s a TERF (derogatory) at best, but I think she’s actually much worse than that.

You see, she views those who support her works as synonymous with supporting her views, so to engage with her beloved franchise is to embolden her anti-trans and pro-billionaire crusade.

She recently bullied Amnesty International into apologizing to her for simply stating facts (look it up!)

She wields real power in many ways, but what does she use it for? Oppression of the marginalized.

Now we come to the latest, and in many ways most concerning, activity or, rather, lack thereof; the Cornell 7.

Not once has she spoken or tweeted about the Cornell 7 (see attached image), a subject which would be *directly in support of women,” her alleged championed-cause.
She could speak out on this cause with ease, reaching millions. She could, at a stroke, fund all of Jane Doe's legal costs. But she doesn't. When there's actually a genuine case of harm of women but one that doesn't have the desired effect of harming marginalized communities she's as silent as the grave.

So no. I can’t in good faith engage with the franchise i used to love BECAUSE of the author, and JKR needs a real wake-up call before she does more harm.

“Talks on behalf of women” my ass. She’s almost as bad as Trumplestien.

Even if she had written a whole essay in support of Jane Doe and personally funded the case, I feel that she would still have been found at fault somehow by the 'I used to love HP, but...' posters. There would have been videos by TRSOH picking apart her every word and criticising her. She can't win. Damned if she does, and damned if she doesn't (and all because she knows that human beings cannot change sex).

Dude, you straight up invented half of your original post, and anyone with half a brain (even you!) knows that just because you don't tweet about something, it doesn't mean you don't care.

In 2021 she quietly gave hundreds of thousands of pounds to help evacuate female judges and lawyers from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. She didn’t tweet about it, announce it, or turn it into a PR exercise. Nobody knew until other people revealed it nearly two years later.

So perhaps “she hasn’t tweeted about it” isn’t quite the forensic proof of indifference you seem to think it is.

There's a very good chance her lawyers would tell her not to comment with the case reopened. She is influential and could be seen to influence a jury.

Also, it's it funny that Americans think what happens in their country is 'international' but don't give a shit about anything that happens anywhere else (unless they're bombing it). Women are getting raped all over, in the places that JK's charities work like Ukraine, but it only matters if it's in the US.

I suspect that they can't tell the difference between performative SM virtue signaling and actual work. My mum quietly raising 10 quid here and there for Rape Crisis over decades isn't important. But posting here is.

Oakdodger · 05/10/2026 15:23

Yeah, I read it.
Do you think the women sexually assaulted in this case don't deserve to have anyone speak up on their behalf?

You're kinda missing the point, arn't ya?

Truth hurts, don't it?

Guess it's true what they say about TERF Brits

Truth hurts, don't it?

It certainly does. That’s why you and your mates are throwing your toys out of the pram because none of us believe that men are women.

None needed.

A brief read of the responses will show they've already done that themselves.

Honestly, I did expect zany Brit humor when I posted but I didn't expect such crushingly painful stupidity

I think our Zany is not quite well. I’m not sure what you hoped to achieve by these rants young ant but I’d recommend a sit-down and a nice cup of tea. Even your own TRAs seem to think you’re a bit of a loon on this accusation.

I note that not a single responder so far has anything to say on JKR's shameful silence on the Cornell case.

It would appear her disciples are as silent as she is about topics that actually matter to women; unless, of course, those topics allow them to attack others whilst feigning support.

For shame.

I'm kind of enjoying the logic that if only men could access women's toiles there'd be less rape at Cornell University. Or something.

Good time to plop the rules of misogny here:

  1. Women are responsible for what men do.
  2. Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
  3. Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
  4. Women’s opinions are violence against men, thus male violence against women is justified.
  5. Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
  6. Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breastfeeding babies deserve punishment.
  7. Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
  8. Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
  9. Men always know the “real reasons” for everything women do and say.
  10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.
  11. Whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men.
  12. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry.
  13. Angry women are crazy. Angry men have trouble expressing themselves.
  14. Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.
  15. Men are the default human. Women are strange subhuman others.
  16. Everyone owns and controls women’s bodies except the women themselves.
