Silence on Cornell

So… about J.K. Rowling. And the Cornell Seven, but we will get to that.

Here’s the thing: I liked Harry Potter growing up. It was the first and only chapter book my mom read to me, and I learned to read so I could read the second on my own after she refused to so so (for my own benefit).
Each year I was in school, there was a new book. I loved that they grew in depth as the characters aged. Yes, there were problems and problematic characters, but that’s a later subject.

I soured on Harry Potter when JKR kept adding things from the Pottermore website as canon: making Dumbledore gay was fine and easy to see in the book (see Grindelwald!), but the thing I hated was making Dumbledore in love with Harry
The greatest wizard of an age, hero and mentor to our protagonist… was revealed to be a pedophile in the post-script.
That’s shitty. My appreciation for the series soured after that, because suddenly the only “gay” representation is predatory and a heinous crime at that.

Fast forward a few years, and we see JKR’s anti-trans stance. Why? “Because she’s protecting real women!” She’s a TERF (derogatory) at best, but I think she’s actually much worse than that.

You see, she views those who support her works as synonymous with supporting her views, so to engage with her beloved franchise is to embolden her anti-trans and pro-billionaire crusade.

She recently bullied Amnesty International into apologizing to her for simply stating facts (look it up!)

She wields real power in many ways, but what does she use it for? Oppression of the marginalized.

Now we come to the latest, and in many ways most concerning, activity or, rather, lack thereof; the Cornell 7.

Not once has she spoken or tweeted about the Cornell 7 (see attached image), a subject which would be *directly in support of women,” her alleged championed-cause.
She could speak out on this cause with ease, reaching millions. She could, at a stroke, fund all of Jane Doe's legal costs. But she doesn't. When there's actually a genuine case of harm of women but one that doesn't have the desired effect of harming marginalized communities she's as silent as the grave.

So no. I can’t in good faith engage with the franchise i used to love BECAUSE of the author, and JKR needs a real wake-up call before she does more harm.

“Talks on behalf of women” my ass. She’s almost as bad as Trumplestien.

maybe focus on your own life and don't get too upset about what others do

Another TRA using the gang rape of a woman to make a point. Repulsive.

for context Jane Does legal team is working on contingency so she doesn’t currently have legal fees. Which you’d know if you actually cared. And JK doesn’t just talk. She funds UK women’s services out of her own pocket. Along with disability services and others. She’s not just an internet talking point.

"Another TRA using the gang rape of a woman to make a point."

You are technically correct, but not for the reasons you've invented in your misunderstanding of the situation.

I am using the horrific gang rape of a woman over here in the US to make a point; the point that your own deified JKR is not - as she claims a champion of standing up for women.

What I am not doing is abusing the horrific gang rape of a woman over here in the US. That concept exists solely in your head and, I strongly suspect, has been invented so as not to spoil the narrative of your internal logic that allows you to read facts and yet still continue to support and cheer for a woman who has repeatedly and demonstrably used her disproportionate power and wealth to punch downwards at marginalized people and communities.

I think you're probably able to see the difference between those two.

And as for your beloved JKR; you think she cares about women's safety?
You are wrong. That is a mask she puts on to justify her true obsession; the obsession with trans women and pushing her anti-trans, bigoted beliefs and propaganda.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 05/10/2026 14:56

@floopyboop So funny though because you are the second TRA to come on here and exploit the gang rape of a young woman in order to make it all about trans people

Yes. I never thought I'd see the day when that would happen, even from them. And in the last few days I've seen it twice. It's beyond despicable.

brighterlightnow · 05/10/2026 14:57

Perhaps you are unaware that the UK is not in the USA. Perhaps you are also unaware that JKR is a UK citizen who lives in the UK.

Perhaps you are also unaware that lots of awful things happen to women in every country in the world and no feminist comments on them all of them, for obvious reasons.

I live in the UK and have not heard of the Cornell case. You are perhaps also unaware that things that are big news in USA often are not big news, or indeed news at all, in countries that are not the USA.

Honestly, you are sounding a bit like a USA supremacist with your assumption that everyone else in the world should prioritise events in the USA.

Maybe realise that there are other countries in the world and the rest of us are living there.

Women's rights, and infringements of those rights, know no national boundaries.

To be fair, I’ve never seen a TRA comment on the atrocities in Sudan or the plight of women in Afghanistan. I do hope you’re calling out IW etc for their silence on these matters. If not, why not?

There's a very good chance she hasn't heard of the case. This is the first I'm hearing of it in the UK.

You've chosen a weird hill to die on, dude.

CassOle · 05/10/2026 15:13

So you expect one woman to comment on and fund every single court case related to a woman being raped, and this is for every country in the world? Because 'Women's rights, and infringements of those rights, know no national boundaries'?

Dude, you straight up invented half of your original post, and anyone with half a brain (even you!) knows that just because you don't tweet about something, it doesn't mean you don't care.

In 2021 she quietly gave hundreds of thousands of pounds to help evacuate female judges and lawyers from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. She didn’t tweet about it, announce it, or turn it into a PR exercise. Nobody knew until other people revealed it nearly two years later.

So perhaps “she hasn’t tweeted about it” isn’t quite the forensic proof of indifference you seem to think it is.

Yeah, I read it.
Do you think the women sexually assaulted in this case don't deserve to have anyone speak up on their behalf?

SleeplessRoads · 05/10/2026 15:24

For JKR’s team, could we please write a comprehensive list of the cases she is required to speak on. It’d be helpful for them to have something to check against when deciding whether to make a statement.

I can see you think she should be commenting on international rape cases. Is this just gang rapes or all rapes? How would you prefer she keeps track of all reported rapes, as there are plenty that don’t make the news.

And what should the statement say? Just a blanket “rape is wrong”? Should she just post that every day anyway as a reminder of her stance on rape?

Is it just rape? Or murder too? What about bog standard domestic violence? Should she also comment on romance scams that victimise women? What about when women’s houses are burgled by men?

And funding costs, she isn’t rich enough to fund every rape victims costs, so what are the requirements here? Is it just gang rape? And if so, should it also be in countries where gang rape is less likely to be prosecuted? Such as the countries where a victim reporting rape would also be the perpetrator of adultery as a crime? Should she insist those victims report it so she can fund their costs?

And could you cite your source on Dumbledore being a paedophile?
