Silence on Cornell

So… about J.K. Rowling. And the Cornell Seven, but we will get to that.

Here’s the thing: I liked Harry Potter growing up. It was the first and only chapter book my mom read to me, and I learned to read so I could read the second on my own after she refused to so so (for my own benefit).
Each year I was in school, there was a new book. I loved that they grew in depth as the characters aged. Yes, there were problems and problematic characters, but that’s a later subject.

I soured on Harry Potter when JKR kept adding things from the Pottermore website as canon: making Dumbledore gay was fine and easy to see in the book (see Grindelwald!), but the thing I hated was making Dumbledore in love with Harry
The greatest wizard of an age, hero and mentor to our protagonist… was revealed to be a pedophile in the post-script.
That’s shitty. My appreciation for the series soured after that, because suddenly the only “gay” representation is predatory and a heinous crime at that.

Fast forward a few years, and we see JKR’s anti-trans stance. Why? “Because she’s protecting real women!” She’s a TERF (derogatory) at best, but I think she’s actually much worse than that.

You see, she views those who support her works as synonymous with supporting her views, so to engage with her beloved franchise is to embolden her anti-trans and pro-billionaire crusade.

She recently bullied Amnesty International into apologizing to her for simply stating facts (look it up!)

She wields real power in many ways, but what does she use it for? Oppression of the marginalized.

Now we come to the latest, and in many ways most concerning, activity or, rather, lack thereof; the Cornell 7.

Not once has she spoken or tweeted about the Cornell 7 (see attached image), a subject which would be *directly in support of women,” her alleged championed-cause.
She could speak out on this cause with ease, reaching millions. She could, at a stroke, fund all of Jane Doe's legal costs. But she doesn't. When there's actually a genuine case of harm of women but one that doesn't have the desired effect of harming marginalized communities she's as silent as the grave.

So no. I can’t in good faith engage with the franchise i used to love BECAUSE of the author, and JKR needs a real wake-up call before she does more harm.

“Talks on behalf of women” my ass. She’s almost as bad as Trumplestien.

And still nobody, absolutely nobody, has managed to answer my post with anything approaching a valid counter-argument.

Not surprised tbh.

I'm not answering your post with counter argument because it's the second one this week saying exactly the same thing and like the other one I think is an utterly vile thing to do to weaponise the trauma of a violently abused young woman to attack someone whose views on the immutability of sex you do not agree with.

You couldn't stoop much lower if you tried.

floopyboop · 05/10/2026 16:01

If you took a quick look back at the thread you may notice you've failed to counter any of the arguments made (after fabricating the majority of your original post).

You didn't even engage with most of what I said in my last post - do you honestly not care that you're making trans rights activists look like insane, self obsessed misogynists? Truly? You think that this kind of trolling is helping trans people?

You do seem to be doing it from a place of activism FOR trans people. And you have no idea of the spectacular own goal you are scoring in the process. AND you're the second TRA to do this, which suggests some sort of coordinated idiocy.

Bravo. Truly, bravo.

"...some sort of coordinated lunacy.."

How very true. Why on earth these men think that spewing their hatred of women on here is a vote winner is quite mind boggling. But it shows the power of Mumsnet - a site that allows women so speak freely - that transactivists sometimes stir themselves out from their basements in order to sneer at women.

Nothing else in their sad lives to occupy themselves with. Sad times and all that.

  3. gun violence
  4. level of political polarization
  5. carbon emissions
  6. earnings inequality
  7. consumption of fast food and ultra-processed food
  8. number of people in debt over medical bills

The guys at the centre of this rape case in the US

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqvg04718lr9o

Just FYI, this OP is the second poster who has weaponised this case to make a point about unrelated trans issues.
Yes, you read that right. Weaponised a rape case to score cheap points about something else.
That's one of the reasons why the OP is getting pushback.

Ummmm are you ok? You seem very er…. Worked up. I haven’t seen any prominent UK TRA also commenting on this. Have you gone and shouted at them too? I mean, if TWAW , surely every TW who does not comment on this is just as guilty….

What the fuck are you doing here then, on a BRITISH feminist forum? Did someone force you, or are you just obsessed with us for some reason? Fuck off back to your child marriage enabling '"shithole".

I'm not missing any points and this forum has not missed discussing the case. You're just a vile excuse for someone professing feminist support.

Well when you elect a rapist to run the country...

I must have missed Kamela Harris's comments.

I was wondering that. I assume someone has poor comprehension and doesn't understand that feelings of paternal love are different from feelings of sexual love.

Nothing to brag about OP

Says the person from the country with a wrecked economy (our stock market - that rules the world, by the way - is doing juuuust fine), mass stabbings everywhere, and really bad teeth!

We're number 1 in tech as well. You think yr Mumsnet is on a British server? think again. Only AWS - AMERICAN TECH - has the power to run the world's servers.
And that computer yr typign your bullshit on? Windows or Apple. American brands.

I note that not a single responder so far has anything to say on JKR's shameful silence on the Cornell case.

It would appear her disciples are as silent as she is about topics that actually matter to women; unless, of course, those topics allow them to attack others whilst feigning support.

For shame.

Or MAYBE, the intelligent people are remembering the Duke Lacrosse players debaucle so this time, they will let the JUSTICE system play it out instead of bloviating on something that they do not have all the facts on.

You had absolutely nothing useful to add to the Cornell case, you just wanted to trash JKR.
Get over it already.

Yeah, I believe the "gender identity" bollocks emerged in the US
