Sandie Peggie: Employment Tribunal, associated legal claims, and related matters - thread #68

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

A second Employment Tribunal, Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing, has just been heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and ended on Thursday 1 October 2026. It is possible that a decision will be handed down before Christmas of this year.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against three senior managers who were witnesses in the first Employment Tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

I too have reported Lacksie. I think there is a world of difference between tangents in the discussion and someone who comes onto multiple threads in order to disrupt. I take great pleasure in Mumsnet FWR threads, their intelligence, knowledge, insights, solidarity and humour. I love being distracted by Tunnocks, songs, gerbil art and cake. I take no pleasure in seeing an intruder barging in over and over again with no intention of disagreeing sensibly and seeking only to spoil everything about the thread by being unpleasant and obtuse.

Totally agree with this, as a bloke, I find the discussions and threads very interesting. I would also say the women on here are way more intelligent than the people on other forums I belong to.

They'll probably tell you Lackey hasn't broken any of MNs somewhat arbitrary "rules"
Unlike the women on here who have the audacity to disagree with and call out his and other posters misogynistic/anti-safeguarding/dangerous bullshit.

I know but I couldn’t do nothing particularly given the attempts spoil multiple threads. We’ve weathered so much hostility over the last 12+ years, we need to keep going

You're reporting me for... disagreeing with you ?
And it's ok for other users to contribute to several threads , but if I do I'm "spoiling" them and "intruding" because... I disagree with you ?

There's a rule of 'not in the spirit' which covers a fair amount. I'd say that repetitive derailing falls into that category, personally.

I suppose disagreeing with you and being bold enough to say so, and why- with care and reason, is not in the spirit of mumsnet?

I suppose that's what you want to do with the law as well isn't it? Turn what was supposed to be a protected belief- being "gender critical" - into a required one?

@Lacksie as far as I am on MN you derail threads about women and trans issues. I am a sex realist not critical of anyone.

I asked you on another thread but you failed to answer. Are you a follower of post modernism and queer theory. It is a very simple question.

really? You are going to accuse me of derailing the thread and in the same post ask me a completely off topic question? 😂 Obviously I can't respond otherwise I will be accused by 20 pps of derailing.
or is that the tactic to get me banned?

Why don't you just leave me alone if you really think I'm derailing the thread?

Anyway, back to the tribunal. I’m guessing the judgment will be handed down any day now. Personally, I don’t think they’re going to find against the RCN.

A judgment only 6 weeks or so since the tribunal ended is highly unlikely. Before the end of the year is my best guess.

Please get some support or help. No one is trying to get you banned. Some of your posts are incoherent, very wordy and often just plain obsequious.

I would suggest you visit the elderly parents thread on here. It is a lifeline for many of us. We vent we get support. I suspect you would point fingers at our lack of empathy.

Hope you got the tonne of stuff done you told us this morning. It is hard to have so much to do.

Man gonna Man!

Cailleach1 · 24/10/2026 20:02

Wow! So, does the law there mean he gets to do what he wants where women are concerned? Like treat women who have requested not to be treated by a man. If she wasn’t conscious, would he just motor ahead, I wonder. I presume that is why hubby won’t leave. Doesn’t trust them one bit, and I don’t blame him. The patient must be feeling quite threatened, and then to be faced with this bs at such a vulnerable time.

I hope the patient won’t suffer because she doesn’t want to be treated by him. Ok, he says he is a woman (in reality only in his own head obviously). But of course laws in places are now giving men id’s saying they are women and, as such, letting men ride roughshod over the rights of actual women.

I hope she be treated with respect and dignity, despite truthfully having said out loud that the man is a man? Or is the hospital now also part playhouse where everyone is forced to be bit players in the pretence. I suppose the brouhaha is now all about this man again.

Upton is only one man, and to how many women has he already been allowed and enabled to cause unease and distress? It is disgraceful. Now scale him up, with many men being enabled to cause women distress, intruding in places which result in forcing women to exclude, or lose opportunities.

Pricks, the lot of them. And the nasty and cowardly people in power who have put this utter balderdash on any sort of policy footing, never mind changed the laws to mirror to enable the abuse of women.

The one bright spot in that article was seeing the Mail is keeping up the tradition of shoehorning house prices into every article, however irrelevant.

Err so what did DU do exactly other than be present in the A&E and be trans? Article doesn't suggest any wrong doing whatsoever.

Oh just DFO , Lacksie

popery · 24/10/2026 23:55

I've seen that some people haven't understood why someone might be concerned that requesting same-sex care would not be respected by staff who have stated they would not respect requests for same-sex care.

We sadly live in a world of little empathy.

He said, under oath, that he would treat women who had requested a female doctor. He took his wrongdoing with him to Oz.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 25/10/2026 00:16

It's when he decides that his ideology trumps a patient's needs that things go wrong. A patient comes to him because they are in medical need, as a doctor he should be placing the patient's needs above his own.

It would be easy enough for him to say, 'Oh sorry, let me get XX for you' but he can't because, his needs

well if i did not know before, i now know what sex you are.

If i needed medical help regarding an intimate problem, i would not what a male doctor, which is my right.

i most certainly would not want a male doctor pretending to be a female, that would really freak me out.

And actually i would not want a doctor who believed themselves to be the opposite sex attending to me at all.

and i do not have to justify that either.
