From Nick Wallis' Genderblog:

On 6 August 2026, BBC Three Counties local radio station, which covers Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, ran a half hour current affairs chat on the Jonathan Vernon-Smith Show. The midday item was posed as a question: “Do you think it’s right to tell transgender people which toilet to use?”

The first contributor put on air to talk about that question were Robin Moira White, a male barrister who claims to be a woman. Robin advocates for men to be able to use women’s toilets and does so himself. The next guest was Nora Padilla, a full-time policy officer at the campaign group TransActual, which also advocates for men to be able to use women’s toilets. Then we heard from “Michelle” from Watford. Like Robin, Michelle is a man who claims to be a woman and – surprise surprise – advocates for male use of female facilities....
[my bold]

And the story goes on. And gets more and more damning for the BBC. The useless, ridiculously activist, taxpayer-supported BBC... Still.

BBC Gender Apology Row

Now they’re in trouble. Sex Matters. (l-r) Dr Helen Joyce, Maya Forstater and Fiona McAnena I am not a defund the BBC sort, but I can understand the frustrations of those who are. I have spok…

Perhaps you could educate yourself? Unless you think this is not a worthy cause to fight for? https://goodlawproject.org/campaign/not-his-name/

It might well be a worthy cause, but one could also just be contributing to Maugham's legal fees.

But think about it, if men accepted that men can dress in whatever they please, then TIM would be safer in men’s spaces and transphobia would decrease. So that’s a benefit isn’t it? Reducing transphobia and expressing themselves however they wish. The world would then be safer for transpeople and everyone will be happy.

It’s not just about transphobia though, is it? Trans people so strongly identify with the opposite sex we transition. What is the benefit to using a space that causes distress?

Conversations tend to evolve. Try reading up the thread.

Nope. Nothing about that issue anywhere up the thread.
You have been squirreling away trying to find something that the GLP has been doing that might be considered 'good' and now you have plonked it down on the thread thinking that you are making a sophisticated point. Squirming for you.

Also seems a bit odd.

How can he stop her changing her name?

The fight to stop victims of rape having to name their children after their abusers. https://goodlawproject.org/campaign/not-his-name/ I'm not sure why you'd laugh at such a thing. Unless of course you're another one who doesn't actually care about women's rights unless it involves attacking trans people?

Petitions do not cost money to sign or create.

Every post you make demonstrates that you most certainly do not identify with women. You haven't transitioned either. No-one can.

If a man is sad having to use the male facilities, why does that make it ok to use the female facilities? He is not female, therefore does not belong in female spaces. It’s not women’s problem.

Still not provided one benefit to women to giving up SSS though. We’re now on the calls to “think of the poor TIM”. Yawn.

Except you haven't changed your sex because it's literally not possible for a human to change sex. Whatever you think you're identifying as isn't a woman, it's just a figment of your male imagination.

You have a subjective idea of what it means to be the opposite sex and you identify with that.

What is the benefit to using a space that causes distress?

Many people find many things distressing - old age, disability, illness, grief.

Why wasn't this a balanced discussion? The (male)presenter should at least have sorted out a guest with the opposite view. Impartial? I think not

alcovecupboards · 12/09/2026 19:47

I do think Nick's actions here will backfire. It essentially means that any time any GC person is on - they will have to be balanced by either someone trans or trans inclusive. So it's not quite the win he's making out - but that won't bring in the adulation he clearly feels he needs.

Imagine thinking that women supporting female single sex provisions would be worried in any way about having a discussion with someone with an opposing view while on national broadcast media!

There are other groups of male people who find it distressing to use spaces designated for male people for a range of reasons. Should all those male people also use the female single sex provisions? They too would benefit from doing so.

Why should one group of male people get additional privileges over all other male people?

Don’t unisex spaces have to be individually lockable? There wouldn’t be any sharing

There are reasons why female people need to have single sex communal basins and public space not just cubicles in busy provisions.

All toilets should just go unisex. Problem solved.

How does that solve the problem for transwomen who specifically only want to use the women's toilets?

Would you extend this principle to other same-sex areas, e.g. hospital wards or sports? Would you make them all unisex too?

Surely the term these days is "gender neutral" and not unisex. Unisex implies that biological sex is a reality whereas "gender neutral" underlines that "gender identity" is the category and any classifications around gender identity are value judgements.

But all single sex toilets are already gender neutral.

What about if I agreed with you there is no benefit to women? Wouldn’t you also agree there is also no benefit to trans women for using male spaces?

It is more than “lack of positive benefit” to women. It is actively detrimental to women. Half of the human race. Why should we accept that reduction in the provision made for the female sex?

Trans women might not like going into male toilets but it doesn’t mean that any man uncomfortable using male toilets should be allowed into the female toilets (or prison, or any other space).

Trans people should have campaigned for third unisex spaces all along if they had the remotest understanding of what it means to be female in the world and what this means for how safe women feel in closed off spaces with male-bodied people. But they don’t understand.

We do not owe it to any male person to give up what women campaigned for.

NotTodayTy · 13/09/2026 00:02

What about the warm fuzzy feeling you’ll get from being nice to others? 😉

Why do women always have to be nice in a situation that is to our detriment?

We’ll be nice out of fear of what can happen when women aren’t nice to a male person.

Women are always expected to be caretakers at our own expense.
