From Nick Wallis' Genderblog:

On 6 August 2026, BBC Three Counties local radio station, which covers Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, ran a half hour current affairs chat on the Jonathan Vernon-Smith Show. The midday item was posed as a question: “Do you think it’s right to tell transgender people which toilet to use?”

The first contributor put on air to talk about that question were Robin Moira White, a male barrister who claims to be a woman. Robin advocates for men to be able to use women’s toilets and does so himself. The next guest was Nora Padilla, a full-time policy officer at the campaign group TransActual, which also advocates for men to be able to use women’s toilets. Then we heard from “Michelle” from Watford. Like Robin, Michelle is a man who claims to be a woman and – surprise surprise – advocates for male use of female facilities....
[my bold]

And the story goes on. And gets more and more damning for the BBC. The useless, ridiculously activist, taxpayer-supported BBC... Still.

BBC Gender Apology Row

Now they’re in trouble. Sex Matters. (l-r) Dr Helen Joyce, Maya Forstater and Fiona McAnena I am not a defund the BBC sort, but I can understand the frustrations of those who are. I have spok…

It’s not just about transphobia though, is it? Trans people so strongly identify with the opposite sex we transition. What is the benefit to using a space that causes distress?

If your natural body causes you so much distress then perhaps what you actually need is therapy rather than embarking upon a life of delusion and falsehood. You don't actually "transition" into the opposite sex - you remain the same sex but with cosmetic changes.

Some years ago - before the trans rights movement became so tyrannical and started capturing institutions and cancelling people for wrongthought and forcing women to accept men in women's sports, telling lesbians we must be sexually available to biological men, etc. - most women would have been ok with the occasional bloke who was a bit messed up and was probably just gay and who'd had full cosmetic surgery, including removing his dick using the women's loos. But the trans rights nonsense went and ruined all that for you.

In any case, the new guidance makes unisex toilet spaces available for men who are too distressed to use the same toilet facilities as other men.

Helleofabore · 13/09/2026 11:03

“I transitioned very early 20d and have very successfully integrated.”

Your personal investment in extreme body modification was not a ticket for entry into any female single sex provision. It is pure male entitlement to believe it was.

It is emotionally manipulative to think that female people should accept this as a reason for you to access female single sex provisions. And if any female person has told you it was acceptable for you to enter a female single sex provision, they had no authority to give consent on behalf of any other female person.

Regardless of how much personal investment you have made, whether it is time, financial, or emotional investment, female single sex provision was never a reward that could be purchased / acquired.

Are you at all concerned with how trans women feel and what they want?

I'll be brutally honest...just a few of the things I care about more than I care about males having even more rights: end-state capitalism and global inequality, climate change, species extinction, pollution, desertification, impoverished soils, women's rights, social media, AI, the mental health crisis. In no particular order, and there are many more things to add to it.

On unisex toilets.

The only ones I have had to use fairly regularly are the ones on trains, and they are always disgusting. Ones on planes are not as bad, but I suspect that is because the cabin staff clean them regularly.

There are other reasons I don't want to be in close proximity to strange men when half naked and hobbled by my underwear, but different standards of hygiene is a big one.

100%. Whenever we get toilet twats blethering about airplanes and coffee shops I think "have you seen what mixed sex toilets look like after an hour or so?" Even the nice ones at my office that aren't subjected to pee puddles, shit smears and lack of flushing are noticeably mankier because men's pee splashes the seat and gets into the hinges.

Sure, sometimes the ladies is left in a mess as well, and using a grubby toilet rather than a clean one isn't exactly life threatening, but why should women have their day to day life degraded purely to solve men's issues with other men?

My DH hates having to use the gents when some men choose to leave it in such a state. If it was just about his own comfort he'd be using the ladies instead like a shot. But he doesn't, because he's not the sort of twat that thinks his wants override women's.

RedToothBrush · 13/09/2026 12:29

It's not just about fear.

Women have the right to safety.

They also have the legal rights to privacy and dignity.

This ALWAYS gets framed by activists as being about just wanting to pee and how they are nice transwomen and we are being mean and should be kind.

Every single time you deflect the conversation back to privacy and dignity, tras ALWAYS deflect it back to safety and how we are terrible people for suggesting they are unsafe.

It's fascinating to watch because it clearly is easier to argue the be kind narrative for my nice trans friend than to offer justification about why women and girls should lose their rights to privacy and dignity away from make bodies.

Every single time with out fail this pattern occurs.

You do your best to blend in and be pleasant, and you don’t ask and don’t tell. Simple.

My husband could do his best to blend in and he is very pleasant and would not hurt a fly.

Therefore, by these standards, he should come in. My father also went through surgery and had no testes, should he have come in to the women’s?

All these conditions for access are for any male person. Why the fuck does any group of male people feel they can set the criteria for access to female single sex provisions?

The only reason is purely an emotional plea due to some male people having a subjective belief that has no basis in material reality wanting that belief to be treated as if it is materially real. When it isn’t

PotatoLove · 13/09/2026 13:04

Men have no place using women's toilets/changing rooms etc.

Does your husband look like a woman? That’s the only way I could imagine him blending in

You didn't say blend in. You said 'do your best to blend in'. You think that men deserve the 'reward' of women's spaces for making an effort to blend in.

DeanElderberry · 13/09/2026 13:57

Is blending in going to include always sitting down to pee, and wiping all surfaces when finished?

I think truly blending in means there will no opportunity to make anyone worry

It is irrelevant really.

You cannot guarantee that not one female person will correctly identify the sex category your body was formed around through observation and interaction. You are male. Therefore the accurate comparison is to my husband and not to female people and whether he ‘looks like a woman’ is frankly and bluntly totally irrelevant.

’Blending in’ is not acceptable entrance criteria for a male person accessing a female single sex provision.

AimsAndObjectives · 13/09/2026 14:03

NotTodayTy · 13/09/2026 13:58

I think truly blending in means there will no opportunity to make anyone worry

But no man can ever know that he 'truly blends in', even if such a thing were possible. You might get no pushback but many women are too scared to pushback at an obviously transgressive male, and many traumatised women will just get out as quickly as possible and never use those loos again.

'Blending in' for you means you look in the mirror and think 'that'll do'.

Ignoring female people’s lack of consent by deception is still ignoring female people’s lack of consent.

Who is deciding who is worrying?

Imagine thinking that women supporting female single sex provisions would be worried in any way about having a discussion with someone with an opposing view while on national broadcast media!

Imagine not being able to comprehend simple words!

Imagine not being able to comprehend simple words!

Apologies, but I genuinely don't understand the point you were making.

Please could you explain why it would be bad to have a range of opinons represented? Why would that be a threat?

Helleofabore · 13/09/2026 14:11

Who arbitrates who ‘blends’ in enough and who doesn’t?

That sounds transphobic.

If a male person says they should have access to a female single sex provision, surely the point is that if one has access they all have access. it is transphobic to arbitrate which male people can have access and which male people can’t above about 8 years old.

It’s pretty simple. You either use the space without issue and bring challenged or you don’t

Please could you explain why it would be bad to have a range of opinons represented? Why would that be a threat?

I can’t imagine why it would be a negative to have a range of views presented. I also cannot think of one feminist who would agree to be on the BBC that would be at all concerned about a discussion that included a person with an opposing view.

The ones I can think of that would be ask would welcome that discussion. I cannot understand it being considered to be some kind of ‘backfire’ outcome.

But of course, we are to be derided for somehow not comprehending the post.

How will you know that you have not caused an issue by using the space? No-one challenging you does not mean that you have not caused an issue. That simply demonstrates how little you understand the realities of being a woman or girl.
