Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Are we a cult?

I keep reading that sex realists, of which I am one, are a cult. Perhaps a genderist could be so kind as to explain what a cult is, and why we qualify. Sometimes one of us calls them a cult too. Who has a better case, hmmm?

OMG.

The idea that women don't enjoy their sexuality (& loudly) without 'programming' from the patriarchy is a truly a championship misojoe take.

Like I said there's an unhealthy obsession with sexual perversity in gender critical ideology. I wonder if its Victorian British prudishness that 's the culprit for this sexual obsession.

Total misrepresentation of my post.

Yours,

A sex positive woman, who also can recognise men exploiting women when I see it.

Like I said, GGW didn't spring from the mind of a woman. It wasn't women going round filming drunk young women for the benefit of those women, or any woman, was it?

No. It was an idea thought up by a man, and it was teams of men who went round filming drunk young women, to be used as wank material for other men.

And again pointing this out is a problem for you?

I think you'd just quite like women to just be quiet about the actual sexism, misogyny, and exploitation which they receive at the hands of men.

A cow is female, a ewe is female. Neither are adult human females.

That's why we use 'adult' & 'human'.

Its really not that hard.

If I'm remembering correctly, that's the exact same type of argument and justification that Laurence Fox used when he was actually charged with sharing an upskirting photo of someone in the public eye a while ago.
"The photo was out there already in the public eye.."
Yet you're chucking in a "so I'm failing to see the issue" as well.
Not the kind of thing you expect to see in a feminism board /on Mumsnet and people justifying.
That's not "telling off" before anyone thinks, you're entitled to think what you like. People are allowed to point out the sheer hypocrisy though when it suits posters to justify this kind of thing, it's not "drive by scolding" or whatever.

Is it that people haven't seen the photo, or that they are just trying to manifest a photo that doesn't exist?

I'm not interested in seeing Fox's photo, but as he was charged, I think we can assume that the salient difference was that this was an actual 'upskirting' picture.

You can’t see the damage you might do in the long term to women’s right if you insist that e.g. sharing a photo of someone’s body with the intention to humiliate or shame them is ok in some circumstances actually, especially if they’re wearing the wrong thing?

Do you understand that by incorrectly describing JKR sharing this screengrab, which someone else took and which has been circulating for a long time, which she shared to illustrate Fred's public behaviour, as "JKR upskirting", you are obscuing and trivialising the actual crime of upskirting which is not simply done to "police or mock women's bodies" but specifically to sexualise us?

The first time I saw the claim I rolled my eyes at both the depth of cynicism required to describe it as "JKR upskirting" and the sheer joy taken in so doing. It has been instructional watching the claim spread like wildfire through TRA discourse as it shows so clearly just how incestuous and entangled the Genderist movement is.

What a ridiculous comparison.

An actual upskirting photo is illegally taken.

This photo was not. It was in the public eye, shared among multiple groups of people (of all persuasions), without any indication that there was a problem with how it was taken.

I mean, seriously? Can we have an actual grown up conservation about this instead of spouting nonsense.

Keep digging.

Believing that sex has consequences is no more 'a movement' than believing that the earth isn't flat. Collaboration has been in response to people who have sought to remove the concept of sex from policy and legislation. There isn't a club with rules that you can join or leave.

This ^ It is so insane that saying sex matters is somehow thought contestable and that people saying it can be accused of being in a cult, but there we are then. We increasingly live in Orwellian times.

What you have done is DARVO'd and appropriated the words used to describe a male crime against women and girls and you've switched it all around to place a large, intimidating, male wearing fetish gear (wearing a miniskirt and fishnets on a high stage to flash women is a fetish!) in the victim role, and a woman into the offender role.

And this ^ It’s interesting to me how much the gender ideologists feel the need to DARVO and attempt to appropriate the style of argumentation / approach / even language of the sex realists. I saw this again recently on another thread. Almost as if they have no solid ground for their own arguments? But spectacularly missing the point that what is being said matters more than how something is said. Like student’s using GenAI.

CohensDiamondTeeth · Today 09:05

The point is they flash their naked bodies FOR FUN & this 'pastime' is a lot more commonplace for females than males.

Ooh you got any actual evidence to back this claim up that women flash their naked bodies "FOR FUN" being "a lot more commonplace for females than males"?

Pedantry won't save you from the fact that prefixes like 'trans' 'cis' 'black' 'white' exist when there is a need to differentiate between types of women . Given trans women are rarely a part of most peoples lives (except for those who incessantly obsess about them) its not exactly coming up in conversation.

Boiledbeetle · Today 09:08

Stonehenger · Today 08:21

Well, you might want to reflect on how you’ve been speaking to people for 50 years @Boiledbeetle ! There might be quite a few women who think you’re sexist and dismissive 😬

You know LOTS of women aren’t gender critical, right? LOTS of women think J K Rowling has become quite an extremist. It’s not just men who disagree with you.

Nah. I'm perfectly happy with my attitude, the way I talk, the words I use, and the fact I give no fucks what other people may or may not think of me.

But you do you.

How would I know that I was one?

Not pedantry at all.

Its a very simple question.

What word do you propose using for adult human females.

They make up 51% of the population, so I think you'll agree that we need a word as a descriptor

Out of all I wrote you somehow micro focused on the word "filming" for absolutely no discernible reason.

Such an odd take... well not really coming from you. I suspect it was a deliberately odd take as a deflection.

You know I'm right. You'd have more to say, in fact I dare say you'd have something relevant to say, if you had an actual argument.

Well you show me where 'boys gone wild' is synonymously associated to their lewd prancing nakedness & will happily concede the point.

Do you want to back up your statement that it's more commonplace for women to get naked for fun, as a pass time activity, than it is for men?

Or can we just all assume that you're just warbling more guff?

Meanwhile this word 'woman' seems pretty useless.

I'm waiting of find out more, but I think it can mean anything.

'Do you want a cup of tea? I'm just putting the woman on'.

'I hope it womans soon. I'm fed up with having to use a watering can'.

And when you ask them why they think this, what has she said that's extreme, they - just like full on TRAs - can not provide you with a single example of what she's said that's extreme. They just go along with her being extreme because they've been told she's extreme and they haven't bothered to actually check what she's said. It's a case of them being completely misinformed and having poor critical thinking skills and general basic analysis skills. They have not checked whether what they've been told is accurate. Cos they are too lazy to do so.

We see this pattern over and over again.

One of the signs of a cult is the use of linguistics.

Cults use specialized, complex, and high-elaborative linguistics to manipulate perception, and enforce social control.

JKR cuts through this - she's a linguist. People don't like JKR because she's the messenger and you always shoot the messenger. She points out how language has manipulated others. She shows up how language has been repurposed into technical, academic, or spiritual words from unrelated fields. She shows up the thought-terminating cliches that are used to shut down critical thinking and suppress the cognitive dissonance. She debunks the mythology and hyperbole of the most vulnerable in society or the trans kid about to kill themselves.

People don't like it when they are shown up as being a little bit gullible.

One of JKR very first tweets on the subject was one that pointed out the linguistics:
"I'm sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?"

This isn't a coincidence.

So perhaps rather than being a clever dick and saying in propagandic style that JKR MUST be wrong because lots of ordinary people say so (bandwagon technique where you say 'well everyone else believes x, why don't you? Why aren't you on the bandwagon? Amongst other propaganda techniques designed to manipulate and socially control others rather than examine the content of her comments accurately).

Really. Don't try this shit here. It doesn't take much to dismantle.

We've always made the point here of using simple English and deconstructing the world salad which has been used to cut out so many people by intimidation and status. There is a reason for this.

And every so often you get idiots like Isla Bumba who when in a court of law find out just how they can't answer the simplest of questions without getting caught out on simple but embarrassing realities.

The truth is something that has a nasty habit of always making itself known at some point. This isn't my fucking fault. It's not JKRs fucking fault. This isn't 'gender critical extremists' fault.

This is dicks flapping in the wind when the Emperor walks naked level stupidity and arrogance because people don't want to admit they have been caught out by their own people pleasing desire and unwillingness to challenge even the most glaring of falsehoods.

They'd rather continue with the charade as long as possible rather than admit they have been caught out by the manipulation and have failed to engage their braincells.

Ah. Excellent timing.

I do love it when you get a crossed post that illustrates the very point you have been in the process of explaining.

Thank you.

Linguistic nonsense doesn't change sex.

I hope you realise this.

Men can't become women. Transwomen are men. Putting a prefix in front of words doesn't change this.
