Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Are we a cult?

I keep reading that sex realists, of which I am one, are a cult. Perhaps a genderist could be so kind as to explain what a cult is, and why we qualify. Sometimes one of us calls them a cult too. Who has a better case, hmmm?

And as if Girls Gone Wild just sprung naturally by and for women.

No Girls Gone Wild was borne of yet more male objectification of women's bodies.

It was (is? Gods I hope it's a thing of the past!) men encouraging coercing young women who were under the effects of alcohol into flashing their breasts, or other sexual acts, purely for male gratification.

OMG.

The idea that women don't enjoy their sexuality (& loudly) without 'programming' from the patriarchy is a truly a championship misojoe take.

Like I said there's an unhealthy obsession with sexual perversity in gender critical ideology. I wonder if its Victorian British prudishness that 's the culprit for this sexual obsession.

This is so hilarious but I really need to go decorate some pottery.

Isn't Fred Wallace the one who sent sexually explicit images of himself to Henrietta when she stated her need for single sex care?

Henrietta, for those who don't know, is a severely disabled young woman who is GC and was active on Twitter for a period. She spoke very eloquently about her need for woman only intimate care and Fred responded by sending her porn, basically.

You are the one positing Fred and his Sex Dungeon as a 'typically female behaviour'.

At what point are you going to realise you've been had? Big style.

Gosh you’ve got a lot of versions of things, haven’t you?

And to be clear, MY idea of feminism doesn’t include defending some fella exposing his upper thighs to an audience at a cultural event and thinking it somehow makes me morally superior

My 'rationale' is 'woman' as opposed to female is a personally subjective interpretation when it comes to self identification. That this individual has inclinations towards feminine behavioural expressions like most women do may be the reason for the identification but I couldn't tell you because I don't know them.

If you don't believe that you need to be female to be a woman what word do you use for adult human females

This is strawman. The context is sexualised feminine presentation of which a good many females thoroughly enjoy.

'Woman' is both a biological & sociological concept. Female is purely biological.

You can’t see the damage you might do in the long term to women’s right if you insist that e.g. sharing a photo of someone’s body with the intention to humiliate or shame them is ok in some circumstances actually, especially if they’re wearing the wrong thing?

A man’s body.

I don't think it's damaging to women's rights to be able to point out the boundary crossing men who publicly display their fetish on a stage and who gives the impression to the women watching that he is flashing his genitals at them, no.

I actually think it's important to safeguard women's rights to point dodgy men out.

I think men should not be in female single sex spaces, or in female rape crises centres or prisons. Men should not be able to take a place held for females, or take an award set aside for females, or take funding set aside for females. Etc etc.

Including men in any definition of "woman" or "female" is of zero benefit to actual females, and in fact is detrimental to us.

Sex matters. Men are not and cannot ever be women.

And again, why can men not like stereotypically "feminine" things and still be men? Why must they really be "women"? Why stereotypically "feminine" things also be manly? Why can't we see men embracing and showing a more progressive and accepting masculinity that includes men who want to be called Jenny, wear make up and take up knitting?

There's nothing wrong with men who like those things, or didn't you know that? Don't you see how sexist your ideology is?

So what word would you use to describe adult human females which doesn't include adult human males?

Some women are suspicious of the motives of men who wear very short skirts and who acknowledge that they are fetishists.

If anything, this is casting aspersions on men, but the statistics demonstrate that indecent exposure is overwhelmingly a crime that is committed by men.

You really think women don't enjoy engaging in 'exotic' sexual acts?

And the misogyny just keeps coming…….

CohensDiamondTeeth · Today 08:52

Stonehenger · Today 08:40

I haven’t described Wallace flashing. Lots of the gender critical posters on here have done.

Yes you’ve explained why YOU don’t think Rowling’s behaviour was upskirting or harassment. I understand your points, but I do still think it was unacceptable.

Edited

And I asked why you aren't having a go about IW doing the same thing?

Is it because you know who is a woman and who is really a man? Are your approbriation and accusations only directed at women?

It would seem so.

That's quite sexist too, really, isn't it?

Just to clarify what JKR has actually done here ...

She shared a photo, which has been in the public domain for months previously and been circulated by many people before she did.

I'm failing to see the issue 🫠

If I'm remembering correctly, that's the exact same type of argument and justification that Laurence Fox used when he was actually charged with sharing an upskirting photo of someone in the public eye a while ago.
"The photo was out there already in the public eye.."
Yet you're chucking in a "so I'm failing to see the issue" as well.
Not the kind of thing you expect to see in a feminism board /on Mumsnet and people justifying.
That's not "telling off" before anyone thinks, you're entitled to think what you like. People are allowed to point out the sheer hypocrisy though when it suits posters to justify this kind of thing, it's not "drive by scolding" or whatever.

My version of equality isn’t about being able to be as misogynist towards other women as men are. You can think I’m an idiot (and tell me I’m an idiot! that’s fine!) without using that kind of dismissive ‘knickers in a twist’ type language used to put women in their place for decades.

I don’t think misogyny is ever ok. I don’t think it’s ’quite bad, but ok if I personally think the person being treated with misogyny is an idiot’. What are you actually fighting for if you don’t care about women experiencing misogyny? What IS feminism to you?

My version of equality isn’t about being able to be as misogynist towards other women as men are.

If you take one thing away from this thread it should be that Rowling believes that Wallace is a man indulging a fetish in public.

A cow is female, a ewe is female. Neither are adult human females.

The point is they flash their naked bodies FOR FUN & this 'pastime' is a lot more commonplace for females than males.
