I only discovered this after having made two reports, and it’s Sunday, so I suppose I’ll find out tomorrow if they are going to follow through.

I'm sure someone will be along in a minute and ask why it has to be a thing in a relationship at all but given the case I’m following through it sort of has to be out there!

No I don't. I think it's a preference. I don't think our preferences always need to be openly shared. Id never date some types of men. I'd never say what type of men I mean though as it is hurtful and unnecessary.

So if you don’t think it’s transphobic, what makes you think others will? What reason do you believe they would think that? What makes you think you have an insight into what others consider transphobic?

Lins77 · 11/08/2026 16:00

I'm sure there are a significant number of men who have a sexual interest in transwomen. But I seriously doubt it's three times the number of those who don't!

Anyway. Hats off to Lexie for persistence, if nothing else.

Lins77 · 11/08/2026 16:03

Also I doubt hordes of women will start boycotting an app because it asks trans people to identify themselves as such. Most will not care.

nutmeg7 · 11/08/2026 16:07

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 10:15

Which is interesting because most people ar probably some degree of bisexual.

Where’s that statistic from?

If they did, obviously the 'allies' could list their sex as male. Sure it might narrow down their options, but I'm sure that would pale into insignificance against showing solidarity with their 'trans sisters'.

And i very much doubt it's for a relationship.

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 11:46

No i didnt say it is not a thing. Just that most people are somewhere other than the ends of the kinsey scale

But what is your evidence for that assertion? There is presumably some research? Or is it just what you believe because of your own preferences? Are you projecting onto everyone?

The flexible should be inflexible, really.

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 15:18

I dont buy that sorry.

I don't care what you buy, but we know that women are not wanting to be harassed, doxxed, lose their jobs etc because many of us are among those women.

nutmeg7 · 11/08/2026 16:32

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 15:35

I think many if not most of their paid users will leave if they feel the site is unweocoming to trans people due to the demographics of who uses apps.

They don't care what some middle aged married straight woman thinks as she is not a consumer.

Ooh, nice ageist, sexist classist side swipe there.

So what you are really saying is all the cool young people will have sex with anyone because they are, like, so open and kind and accepting, and none of them are heterosexual, they are all 100% queer/pansexual/bisexual and just the best!!

But all the nasty pearl clutching, saggy titted middle aged women on MN are a bunch of uptight meanies who don’t like sex and are all married anyway. And some are even lesbians who won’t sleep with people with a penis!

Is that what you meant all along when you were wanting on about the “app user base” all being 100% happy with having no filter for sex?

JustEatThePizza · 11/08/2026 16:32

So in summary:

  • 3 times as many men want to have sex with trans women than don't.
  • People use Hinge because they believe trans women are women.
  • Hinge would lose the majority of their customers if they introduced a trans filter.
  • Everyone is bisexual.
nutmeg7 · 11/08/2026 16:33

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 15:37

He's one middle aged straight guy. They have millions of those. Probably some of their most problematic users, too. He adds no value to the site.

Nice.

🤣🤣🤣

Even Lexible must agree that this is what they are claiming and that it sounds incredibly unlikely.

nutmeg7 · 11/08/2026 16:36

Lexibletheflexible · 11/08/2026 15:41

Middle aged straight men are also massive consumers of transgender porn. For every man like OP, there are 3 happy that they have access to trans women for sex at least. You can argue that they arent straight but point remains that they are consumers and outnumber men like the OP. So all in all, it is a better business decision for them to fully welcome and embrace trans people.

More stats! Hurrah! Please let us know where this one is from as well.

You missed

  • no-one is really that concerned about the sex of the people they date

Ive gotton 2 of your posts deleted for calling women names when they challenge you. You attack women and become abusive when a woman disagrees with you.

Gotten.

and aren’t you clever? Have a gold ⭐

murasaki · 11/08/2026 16:41

Also Lexible used 'women', whereas I suspect anything was only directed at Lexible, so 'woman' at a push.

MyAmpleSheep · 11/08/2026 15:59

But you don’t openly share your preferences on a dating site if there’s a filter: that’s the whole point. You don’t need openly to say “I’m looking for men under 40” openly in your profile because by setting a private preference the men over 40 aren’t shown to you.

The inability privately to express the preference not to meet trans-identifying people forces you to express it openly.

If you really want to avoid hurting other people’s feelings, you’d approve of the trans filter.

If you don’t want a trans filter, then it’s just a public purity test that you’re approving.

Edited

Excellent point!

MyAmpleSheep · 11/08/2026 16:46

One to which Lexi (who said “I'd never say what type of men I mean though as it is hurtful and unnecessary.”, and therefore we conclude she considers herself kind) has not responded.

MakesNoDifference · 11/08/2026 17:35

murasaki · 11/08/2026 16:19

And i very much doubt it's for a relationship.

And this is why it’s better to leave it off the profile. It makes it less likely to match with people like that.

For the transwomen, sure. But what about the men who are looking for a relationship?

Surely transpeople would be best served a a dating app dedicated to people who actually wanted to date them longer term. Have any if them bothered to set one up, or is it all about glomming onto more mainstream apps amd then being disappointed with the outcomes?

They don’t have to date me, just like I don’t have to date them. I feel like this is being blown up into a much bigger deal than it actually is.

We’re back to what is the point of any filters?

It’s not a big problem in the grand scheme of
life but it’s interesting that we’ve departed from the usual mantra of providing features to make customers’ lives easier and their preferences more easily satisfied.

The app can include or not include any filter they want. If they want users to filter by gender that is their choice.

I think the real issue here is that’s it’s inclusive for trans people.
