That is if The Human Paperweight that is Philipson can make her mind up. What should we expect?

Lords not required, in fact in 40 days - thats it it exists.

UNLESS MPs manage to get a prayer motion together, and get it heard, and win it. THEN they can have a debate and vote to send it back.

Has happened once since ww2, I expect them to try, I do not expect it to happen. Labour wants this to go away not drag on.

Are we taking bets on which MP will be the first to try?!

So if it's second to last on the order paper, could the trans allies filibuster by droning on and on earlier in the proceedings?

Is there a time limit on the day's business? Or does the House have to sit until all 16 items are dealt with?

I hope not! But surely they can't filibuster it forever, at some point they are going to have to hear it whether they like it or not?

That bell end plumber no doubt.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 21/05/2026 10:13

There is going to be an awful lot of ignoring this

You've missed, "What about butch lesbians getting thrown out of the ladies'?"

And “a lot of people don’t realise this but it’s not actually legally binding”

Why does he think it won’t reference “trans women”?

My money is on Nadia Whittome, not my MP thankfully but she is has some extreme views that directly harm women and children.

SwirlyGates · 21/05/2026 10:17

I couldn't see anything on the BBC website, so I did a quick google of news stories in the last 24 hrs, and found:

Telegraph
GB News
Belfast News Letter
The Times
Daily Express

BBC, nothing. Guardian, nothing...

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 21/05/2026 10:17

My £££ is on Angela Eagle to try.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/05/2026 10:17

Prepare for endless media interviews with sad / angry men in costume talking about how they won't be able to leave the house if they're not able to invade women's spaces.
It's going to be tedious. 😑

No I haven't - see 'cis women affected' 😁

I did, however, miss Section 28 which was in there. Remiss of me.

Well, if they have to stay home for a while, #SadTimes, at least our streets will be free of piss for a while.

I am not showing off but I have been doing this for 18 months and it has taken a lot out of me but it is 100% having an actual affect on the ground.

People need to FOI their local orgs, then put in complaints and challenges and FORCE policy changes, we have to pull together in every level of the UK to make these changes

Great work. Thing is as usual a whole bunch of people have been working to push things along some openly, many more behinD the scenes

After today the effect of anything we do to improve women's rights will be magnified hugely. Every single small action has an effect. Keep writing and complaining.

We have to take down a huge fortress, but it can be done we have already started undermining the walls. Look back a few years ago to see the huge progress we have made.

Everyone has played a part, lots more to do.

I’d forgotten she existed. I reckon Kate Osborne.

Oh so many people, thousands, most from behind a shroud of secrecy because the push back is so mental

DelusionalBeliefSystemMaintainedByBullying · 21/05/2026 10:29

I found this comment in response to a lamentation that Bridget Phillipson would never face consequences for her (minimal) part in this quite sinister:

“Oh, I'm sure some will be arranged. All it will take is one trans person who feels they have nothing left to lose.”

On this thread.

ItsCoolForCats · 21/05/2026 10:31

I reckon my backbench Labour MP (elected in 2024) will try. She has been woeful when I emailed her.

It will be very interesting to see how many try to do something. I suspect it might be a tiny number, also many supposed trans supporters MPs will suddenly go missing now there is a chance to be put their names on record in a different climate.

Many have started refusing to discuss their position openly.

Of course Kate - she insists she is always being mistaken for a man. I don't believe her

The attempt to silence people really back fired long term. Outspoken women are great obviously. The secret witchy terfs are though a hidden power taking ongoing action and are very powerful.

From the dawn of time women have learned how to defy male threats and work behind the scenes when they need to. For every open suffragette there were many more who supported secretly.

It's a written statement, not an oral one. So there is nothing to talk out. Most of the day will be taken up with the second reading of the Steel Nationalisation Bill.

There's nothing to filibuster, it's a written statement. It was laid before the house at start of business at 9.30 this morning.

I haven't checked trans Reddit yet - they tend to react later, guessing a combo of NEETs not needing to be up early and only getting their news via social media so other people need to read it and react first - but I'm predicting the Oppression Bingo card will contain:
*Comparisons to segregation
*Pink triangles and Nazis (already ticked)
*Genital inspections
*'Cis' women will be affected most
*Carry on regardless
*... But intersex
*Sex isn't binary
*Terfs are a loud minority
*Right Wing American Shadowy Funding [note: hurry up with mine, I've been terfing for free for years]
*I'll be attacked in the men's
*Victoria McCloud/Foxbotherer/Robin Moira White says it's rubbish so it must be illegal
*Lemkin Institute genocide warning

Predicting I'll clock the lot in the first thread. What've I missed?

This is so accurate. I would add:

"How long before they start throwing us in camps" (actual comment currently on Reddit and massively offensive)

"I'm going to flounce off move abroad" (yeah, because moving abroad is as easy as just waltzing into another country)
