What is in the water this week?! Glinner now making a mockery of the cause

RobynMiller · 24/04/2026 17:06

I know I know I should just get off twitter but this week is just back to back GC news and not in a good way.

If you haven't seen, Glinner posted a video mocking Green Leader Zack Polanski, understandable plenty of material for a comedy writer there, but the video is so unhinged and unfunny.

Some speculating Graham was drunk when he made it but it's been 24 hours and he's left it up so maybe not.

I feel like we are finally gaining real ground in this fight and this makes GCs look like a bunch of lunatics.

I know there is no formal hierarchy but like it or not, for better and worse, we do have public faces and 'spokespeople' for this fight and this is just embarrassing.

I just feel so helpless because there can't be any accountability for this kind of thing but my God.

Thanks for listening to my rant, just been a very frustrating week.

Well yes, if I'm working mostly by email, and I have to contact someone called Bruno, I'd say that Bruno having "he/they" pronouns in Bruno's signature might clue me in that Bruno is actually biologically female, but if I'm unlikely to be sharing an intimate physical space with Bruno, this is not the most useful knowledge compared to whether Bruno has that risk assessment that I'm looking for.

ArabellaScott · Today 10:54

Oddly, declared pronouns dont suggest either sex to me. But they do suggest a whole lot of other things.

ArabellaScott · Today 10:55

In fact I'd go so far as to say that the suggested 'cis/trans' split is a diversion from the actual split - between GI adherents and those with GC views.

ArabellaScott · Today 10:57

A he/him might be a confused female or a sexist male. A they/them might be an idealistic woman or a predatory male.

But anyone declaring their pronouns puts me on guard and I avoid.

SionnachRuadh · Today 10:58

Also, I'm using Bruno hypothetically, but there are some traditionally male names that I have only ever encountered in the wild being used by biological females.

It gets to be one of those tells, like if I meet an American with an unusual first name and I correctly guess they come from Utah.

Edited

Exactly. Declared pronouns don't tell me their sex, they just tell me they are sexist.

”Pronoun information is vastly useful. My kid has a friend called Memphis - if that person emailed you at work and said they'd see you soon, the addition of he/him would help, right?”

No. Why would it be helpful? Why do I need to know what sex Memphis is unless I am in a situation where knowing Memphis’s sex matters?

And if Memphis was male and had female pronouns on the email, that is misleading me to expecting a female person when they are a male person. So the direct opposite of helpful.

Younger cis people sometimes give their pronouns because they look androgynous, and don't care if someone mistakes them for trans.”

This sentence contradicts itself. If a person looks androgynous and don’t care if others consider them to be trans, why would they need to explain what sex they are?

Two aspects of the whole of @TransParentlyAnnoyed's post that sum up the regressive nature of trans ideology. Spending time highlighting the 'gender' of people when neither it, nor more pertinently sex, is important, while denying the relevance of sex in situations where sex matters.

What is it with the gender critical to far right pipeline? It's what made me stop engaging with a lot of the gender critical community. I agree with a lot of what they have to say ragarding sex and gender. However, seeing how many went off the deep end and started spouting racist and far right views too made me walk away. It makes me question who's funding the fight and what are their real motivations. Probably not protecting the rights of women and girls.

No danger of that with me.
I've been hard left for decades (socialist and feminist).

Many (Most) GC posters here are left wing.

I just don't see the pipeline you claim exists

Do you have any thoughts on serial abuser of women Neil Gaiman? Or does he get a free pass because he belongs to your political tribe?

Sure, all those rape allegations don't look great, but at least he never retweeted Libs of TikTok.

Um, no, he doesn’t? Why would he?

We’re talking about the rape allegations against Trump though, that Glinner is seeming to excuse.

Let's be honest, Glinner's real sin in your eyes is leaving your political tribe.

Glinner retweeting Libs of TikTok is supposed to be a terrible thing, and it's not even one of LoTT's inflammatory tweets, it's one that in the context of yet another assassination attempt on Trump mentions the shooter echoing the rhetoric of Mark Ruffalo.

If there were an assassination attempt on a Democrat politician, and the shooter was using the exact same language as a right wing celebrity, you bet we would hear all about it.

The same way that, when Charlie Kirk was murdered, people twisted themselves into pretzels saying "I'm not saying the murder was justified... but you know, it kind of was... but it definitely wasn't one of our lot who did it."

I suspect we differ on this, but I don't regard "the left" as having some sort of ex officio moral goodness that allows it to cast judgment. If Trump is a pig, he was a pig when he was a Democrat donor to Hillary Clinton's campaigns. And if you would like an argument about how your tribe is better, I am very happy to tell you all about abusive men in left wing politics, and all the left wing women who have covered up for them.

SionnachRuadh · Today 13:05

I mean I don't want to particularly pick on Mark Ruffalo, who, like many actors, has the approximate IQ of a newt combined with an irresistible desire to share his opinions with anyone he sees wielding a microphone.

But let's assume that Mark is interested in the safety of women and girls. May I suggest:

  • Mark might like to reconsider his view that men should be able to enter women's spaces on their own say-so.
  • Mark might also like to consider that paedophilia is rampant in his working environment. He may not like to consider Brett Cooper's account of working as a child actress in Hollywood, because she's conservative and that disqualifies everything she says, but there will certainly be other women who will corroborate what Brett says.

But Mark won't do those things. He'll just go back to tweeting at bemused voters in East European countries telling them which party to support. And hoping that nobody holds his years of fangirling Elon Musk against him.

This isn’t about Mark Ruffalo.

It’s about Glinner retweeting a post suggesting the Left is pushing a narrative that Trump is racist and a paedophile. You seem to be obfuscating somewhat. I have no problem with anyone person, of any tribe (as you put it) facing charges if they deserve it. This post, right now, is about Trump and Glinner. Do you have any comments on them?

RoyalCorgi · Today 13:35

Late to this discussion, and I can't be bothered to read the whole thing, but no one here is responsible for what Glinner says or does. The only person responsible is Glinner himself. Personally I think it's a shame he's taken a rightwards turn, but lots of people I previously admired turn out to have unsavoury opinions. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that my hero George Orwell was a total shit to the women in his life.

Well:

  1. You may have missed this, but FWR (and I know this annoys some posters) doesn't have an editor in chief. You seem to be working on the assumption that you get to decide what you post about, but also what I post about.
  2. Glinner is responsible for what Glinner says. I'm not his mum.
  3. There are lots of allegations about Trump's private life. Some are probably true and some aren't. I am not Trump's mum. I am not aware of credible allegations of paedophilia, and I can only assume that Mr Ruffalo, who is not a deep thinker, is reaching for the most inflammatory epithet he can find.
  4. I have quite considerable experience of mentioning bad behaviour of men who belong to your political tribe, often people who I know personally, and many FWR posters don't want to know about this. You yourself seem anxious not to discuss this.
  5. Obfuscating? Tu quoque, pal, tu quoque.

Sharron Davies in her apparent attempt to scare gnc women out of running in parks

Which gnc women is Sharron Davies attempting to scare out of running in parks?

I wonder if @TransParentlyAnnoyed will come back and enlighten me about which ‘gnc women’ Sharron Davies is attempting to scare out of running in parks?

Especially since the Guides do most sleepover events with the Scouts

Well that sentence proves you know nothing about Guiding. The vast majority of residential events are not done with Scouts. As they are completely different organisation from us, it makes no sense to do it together for just a standard residential.

It's going to be large scale jamborees that are joint and as they are so expensive, most units that go to them will do one every few years.

I'm pretty sure they don't call them sleepovers either, but clearly there's no need to know how the guides run before you tell people that there's no risk in allowing boys in girls tents.

At the end of the day, the Supreme Court has spoken, so it really doesn't matter what people want. I'm not allowed to speed because I think it's quite safe because I'm such a good driver and biological males aren't allowed in biological spaces no matter how nice they may individually be.

(Incidentally, I don't speed)

Did you know that the charges against Neil Gaiman were dropped in America and the police in the area where the crimes were allegedly comitted said no case to investigate?

BDSM isn't my thing. Nor is the assumption that a man must be guilty because a woman said so or that a man cannot be guilty because he said so. The burden of proof is with the accuser. It didn't pass, but his career is still trashed.

Well, I'm all broken up about Mr Gaiman's career.
