What is in the water this week?! Glinner now making a mockery of the cause

RobynMiller · 24/04/2026 17:06

I know I know I should just get off twitter but this week is just back to back GC news and not in a good way.

If you haven't seen, Glinner posted a video mocking Green Leader Zack Polanski, understandable plenty of material for a comedy writer there, but the video is so unhinged and unfunny.

Some speculating Graham was drunk when he made it but it's been 24 hours and he's left it up so maybe not.

I feel like we are finally gaining real ground in this fight and this makes GCs look like a bunch of lunatics.

I know there is no formal hierarchy but like it or not, for better and worse, we do have public faces and 'spokespeople' for this fight and this is just embarrassing.

I just feel so helpless because there can't be any accountability for this kind of thing but my God.

Thanks for listening to my rant, just been a very frustrating week.

Oooh are we back to genital inspections?? You TRA seem very obsessed with the,. Slightly worrying given your earlier revelations about your friend group and the dodgy pics they send you. Have you tried counselling for this?

Seriously this is lamer than me after running for a bus.

Pretending I said something that I definitely didn't, and assuming I'll get upset about it, is Liz Truss levels of tragic 😁

Just shows me you can't make a genuine counter-argument.

Because there is no counter argument to your batshittery. All that is left is to mock you. Sorry bud.

Sure.

Unless Sharron's going to insist on genital inspections for every participant, the only way Parkrun organisers can find the very few trans women who might turn up is by judging their appearance.

Gnc women are already being challenged and even attacked. Cis women with alopecia and those undergoing cancer treatment have reported being abused.

Just one more way the anti-trans movement enforces gender stereotypes and encourages the misogynistic far right.

Next?

You'd think that if a group of people were explicitly told an activity was for a group that didn't include them they would self exclude and join the group that did include them.
If more policing was required than trusting the integrity of the runners, registration could require biological sex with ID.
It may not prevent the most determined people from misrepresenting their sex, but there's quite a step from turning up 'as a woman' knowing that even when it's obvious people will say nothing because you're allowed to be in the group, and risking the dysphoria of being clocked and challenged in a group you've been told is sex based and for women.
The idea the only way to tell women from TW is via genital inspection is a hyperbolic, rather creepy and deluded TRA myth.
Its vanishingly rare for a woman to have a complete absence of sex identifiers so that she is mistaken for a man in a situation where sex is scrutinised. The most women get is very occasionally being mistaken at first glance. This is nothing like the often spoken of TW experience of needing to worry about 'passing', because they don't have any naturally occurring female identifiers, and have had to try to replicate them, with varying levels of success.
And yes of course sex is judged on appearance. But not whether the person has a pony tail, make up or pink trainers. It's judged on body size, shape, facial structure, gait and voice. Naturally occurring sex identifiers that its extremely rare to be able conceal or emulate convincingly.

youandyourelk · 28/04/2026 06:35

Had my hair cut yesterday. The young "lady" cutting my hair I clocked immediately as not actually female. Of course it wasn't relevant to getting my hair cut so the subject did not come up, naturally. They had a very feminine figure, feminine clothes, beautiful nails, make up and hair and luckily were young and slim. But I knew, 100% this was a man. Went home and google the stylist and the salon, goth their full name and boom! confirmation left, right and centre that they were male. We can always tell, no genital inspections required, it's hardwired in to our DNA. It's how the species survive.

Great haircut, BTW:

I think its nigh on impossible to conceal every naturally occurring physical sex identifier and emulate sufficient that occur in the opposite sex to convince over a prolonged period.
Clothing and presentation choices can create enough of an association that our minds may be fooled initially into seeing what we are being guided to see. But humans are typically sufficiently familiar with the naturally occurring features of the sexes, that are absent in the opposite sex, to realise there is something different about the person.

Just to be clear, you're worried that Glinner's latest unhinged imbecility might cause people to start thinking of the GC brigade as unhinged imbeciles?

Oh honey, rational people in a civilised society have always held that view

Why would rational people in a civilised society think people who didn't believe in gender stereotypes were unhinged imbeciles? Why would rational people in a civilised society think that it was unhinged to believe there are two sexes and which one you are is fixed by biology and not a matter of choice? Both views are mainstream.
Obviously some unhinged imbeciles will be amongst the people who think this, because some views are so commonplace and widely held that it would be impossible for no unhinged imbeciles to also hold them, like believing the earth isn't flat, for example. Some people who know the earth isn't flat are unhinged imbeciles, the vast majority are not. Same with any mainstream view.

Did you miss the part where I wrote “I have no problem with any person, of any tribe, facing charges if they deserve them”. How is that obfuscating? You, however, seemed to go on tangents to avoid discussing the problem at hand. Of course Glinner is responsible for what he posts, but we can discuss it, because this thread is about Glinner.

You have come after me repeatedly on this thread going "Look at this disgraceful retweet Glinner did! Will you condemn his disgusting retweet! Why aren't you condemning Glinner! Eh! Eh!"

Combined with a meta-commentary about how discussing the context of Glinner's retweet - you know, yet another assassination attempt on the US president, with the shooter posting a manifesto that reads exactly like a Jimmy Kimmel monologue - is off topic.

You seem to get very annoyed when you're on a thread and anyone resists you badgering them into saying your magic words.

You might not be familiar with FWR if you think that "say my magic words or I'll call you far right" is a strategy for winning friends and influencing people. Over the years it's become boringly predictable.

thirdfiddle · 28/04/2026 08:06

In general parkrunners don't even know what category someone is running in on the day. Everyone runs together and swipes their barcode at the end. People are trusted to register with the correct age, and currently permitted to register in any "gender" they choose. It would hardly be a big change to trust them to register with the correct sex too.

If a 20 yr old registered with age 12 and grabbed all the junior course records would someone from parkrun officially query it? I think they would probably get discreetly removed from the records to give real kids a chance. Should be the same with men in the women's category.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 28/04/2026 08:28

Amongst my sadness about the funeral of Baby Auckland yesterday, I was interested to see they were able to tell this was a baby boy. He’d been hidden over a hundred years ago, and yet they could tell.

That's an interesting one. I used to volunteer a lot at our local junior parkrun when it was first getting established. Based on what I saw of the parents, you wouldn't need to wait for the Run Director to query the age of an obvious adult participant not there to support an under-14 and attempting to get scanned at the end. The parents would be up in arms.

Aaah right @TransParentlyAnnoyed

But you said Sharron was attempting to stop ‘gnc women’ from running in the park.

What you really meant was Sharron wants to stop trans identifying males from entering in the female category, which is completely different.

Nobody is being prevented from running - just being stopped from cheating and taking things that don’t belong to them.

And no need for ‘genital inspections’ (why are TRAs obsessed with this idea? See Kirsti Miller for his disgusting views on SRY testing for athletes) - how about TIMs just enter in the correct sex category?

Simples.

Seriestwo · 28/04/2026 09:15

They don’t pass, @TransParentlyAnnoyed. none of them, ever. Not even the skinny twinky ones, they always look like what they are, male. No need to inspect anything, good grief, can you imagine?

Presumably because that would require levels of self control, understanding & complying with society's laws and regulations and respecting that others have rights?

It seems that the above are sadly absent in the lives of those determined to breach boundaries and trample over the rights of others.

And yes - what is this obsession with genital checks? Society managed single sex spaces for ever and then suddenly there's these repeatedly creepy mentions of genital checks from those obsessed with gender identity. It's like 5 years olds and poo jokes. Very odd.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/04/2026 09:29

The cheek swab, the simple, quick universal method for determining sex that used to be applied in women's sport and now will be again, clearly isn't exciting enough for these people. Nor are they willing to admit that women are far better at telling the sex of other humans, for obvious evolutionary reasons.

I’m not annoyed at all and I haven’t “come after you”. I’d just like to hear what you think about Trump and Glinner without the deviations into ‘the left does this’ or ‘Jimmy Kimmel that’, as that reads like a tribal, evasive tactic. Just say what you think.
