I had a read of that thread. I was tempted to post the quote about how, 'The female body is a thing of a beauty and a work of art, whereas the male form is lumpy and hairy and should not be seen in the light of day.'
Welcome, @Wearenotborg. It took me a long time to get Boily's Battenborg joke.
And a happy birthday to Norma for tomorrow, and commiserations to Deano.
Oh, and a splendid post from Android.
As you can tell I got rather behind. It's been a busy day, but I had a very chill walk with B&B through some wonderfully quiet farmland. At one stage I followed a path made by muntjac - you could tell from the slots left by their very little hooves. I saw some slots yesterday which must have been made by a running roe: deep and splayed and much bigger than the muntjac ones - unless there is some big-ass muntjac buck strutting his stuff in the vicinity. Some giant muntjac buck, actually... it must have been a roe.
I bloody love the countryside. There is always something to see, and I am never bored. This afternoon what I at first thought was a large crow lifted ominously from a dead tree, black against the sky, then as it turned and I could see its underwing properly I realised it was a small buzzard. A little while later I looked up and it was riding a thermal, not really going up, but just wobbling its wings a little to keep itself steady.
And I finally saw some lambs today. This is not exactly sheep country, but there are a few flocks in some of the valleys*, and there were a few, about a month old, gambolling on the grass as I drove by.
*Valley is a relative term in East Anglia. We have near us what is locally considered to be a steep hill, which would be thought flat in some parts of the country.
