Instructive that the trans proponent suggesting a "sisterhood" meeting has pretty much said that the SC ruling on segregating biological sex means that transwomen are at risk and thus she'll find a way to make them welcome, thus there can't then be any way to differentiate further those who don't claim they're women. Ie men who say they're men. In other words transwomen and men are indistinguishable.
I mean, if that isn't a "cat out of the bag" moment, made even more telling because it isn't a gotcha!, it's an acolyte for the movement on her terms speaking under no pressure, clearly and concisely.

Why is it always the trans allies who bring up strip searches and genitals whilst insisting it's us that are keen on the idea?

I'm starting to thing it's the trans side that is completely obsessed with people getting their kit off. Because most of us gender critical women sure as hell aren't.

Why have you gone straight to any woman or girl can be forced into a strip search. Seriously the obsession with naked women is not coming from this side. Most of us are perfectly capable of spotting a bloke, and yes even the ones who claim to be women, from the other side of the room. No stripping or genital checks required.

As a GC member of the WI I’m closer to leaving over this issue than I’ve ever been before. I held out before because my small WI has no TW members and I wanted to support my group to survive- as well as personally getting something from it, I know it’s an important social activity for many of our elderly members. During Covid it provided a lot of support for those of us living on our own and I wanted to continue to support it.

But now I really don’t know. Half our fees go to national and county. I do not want any of my money going to this. And listening to plans to subvert the law really don’t impress me.

I note the mention of funding and hall hire costs in the article - the membership fees we get to keep don’t even cover our hall fees. My understanding was that the second most common reason for WIs closing was issues over where to meet- hall hire costs have gone up a lot. Number 1 reason for closing is lack of committee/officers - I came off our committee in part due to the TW issue as I felt it was going to grow, but I didn’t publicly say so.

Our committee have forwarded the national messages onto us with absolutely no comment at all. It doesn’t get mentioned or discussed. My gut feeling is that there is probably a mix of GC with ‘be kind’ not really though about it, and a couple who will be TWAW who I would prefer not to fall out with.

I hate this and what it’s doing.

A lot of people (me included) joined the WI because it's for women . Only women ie those with 2XX chromosomes.
I had no idea we were being infiltrated by men who want to be women.
I have written to the NFWI to ask if and how they canvassed the membership before issuing their 'disappointment' but have yet to receive a reply.
If the WI continues act illegally to allow men to be members then I will report them to the charity commission as they are clearly in breach of their charitable objects.

I didn't renew my membership because of this. I won't pay money to subsidise the salaries of the privileged women running the WI who display such contempt for the long honourable history of women organising for themselves.

just feel free to form your own group and let the WI follow the law without them resorting twisting the regulations to allow male people to attend sessions they should not be in. No need to try to threaten separation to force a legal issue to be formed. Just go and do it and have fun.

I hate to stereotype, but the one demographic in society Id expect to be eagerly law abiding and zero defying a SC ruling, would be older women, y'know, the types to typically run an organisation like the WI.

What's really fucking annoying about the whole "you want to strip search people and check their genitals" thing is that it is both stupid bullshit and ignores the issue of when people actually do need to be searched - which is a more significant issue than toilets ever were and is one of the things we've been trying to fix for years.

I've mentioned this before but about 10 years ago I worked in inpatient MH, male only unit. We had a search policy that required pat down and wand due to both drugs and weapons being smuggled in. Policy was same gender for pat down. Then we had a transman admitted, no surgery, no hormones, just a vulnerable woman with short hair and an abuse history.

What the policy should have said was same sex.

Fortunately for everyone that's what we ended up doing but this is where searching people is an issue. Police stations, prisons and mental health wards. Not toilets which no one has ever suggested doing.

I have just looked up the charitable objects of the National Federation of Women's Institutes (charity no. 803793) and the first charitable object is: " to advance the education of women and girls for the public good".
It has to be 'for the public good' if it wants to register with the charity commission.
I think this must be understood to exclude men.... all men even those that pretend to be women, dress like women or want to be women.

AI wouldn't follow my instructions only to do capital letters a different colour. Given the length of time it took to actually draw anything I think it cottoned on to what I was asking it to do!

Bit like putting a narcissist into a group of friends and watching them all take sides, then fall apart. The Supreme Court ruling has sped the process up, but it all falling apart was sadly predictable from the moment the rules changed to explicitly welcome men, rather than making an odd exception.

Yes, our local U3A Feminism group has to let men join. At least they know that up front.

And after it falls apart, it'll be the GC women in the group that will cop all the blame. With their hateful, exclusionary attitudes, putting the gentle newcomers at risk, to the point where things can't continue.
As opposed to the truth, that women said introducing a metaphorical hand grenade into a previously stable situation could only lead to chaos and destruction.
