Spotted on the Guardian today:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2025/nov/28/sugababes-sophie-ellis-bextor-wolf-alice-and-more-to-play-all-star-charity-concert-for-trans-rights

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

Not necessarily profiting financially from this but rather in terms of raising their profiles and visibility as cis performers and opportunistically piggy backing on trans lives to do so. Or something.

Perhaps the organisers should be encouraged to showcase no-one but trans performers. Not even allies permitted.

I'm sure the punters would flock in.

And definitely free tickets for trans folx.

Filthy lucre, pah, who needs it when you've got purity.

Not sure Jolyon would agree, mind.

Green Party and The Guardian can kiss goodbye to any support from me.

Wait till you hear Polanski's economics theories that debt isn't real

ProfessorBettyBooper · 29/11/2025 14:56

Also a consensus that this charity concert is a pure reflection of the dire situation trans people are in.

'I see this event as both a good and bad thing. It's wonderful in and of itself, to see that kind of level of support for us from cis people, and for the first time really, significant support from high profile cis people. On the other hand, it shows just how dire a situation that we're currently in in this country at the moment, that anyone thought a charity concert for us was actually necessary.

Ignorant cis people (and even a tiny minority of trans people) have dismissed our increased fears and anxiety over our current plight as hyperbole. But when you think of the groups of people charity concerts have traditionally been held for in the past, it really does highlight exactly how horrific things have got for the vast majority of trans people in recent years. And it is a great thing to see that finally acknowledged on a wider scale by cis people.'

It's not for bloody charity! It's actually shitty how much the Fox Botherer exploits these people.

If it's not a charity does that mean he gets to keep the excess revenue that might come in?

Greyskybluesky · 29/11/2025 15:09

Just to clarify @Swamphag it wasn't me who reported your post. I thought you were saying it tongue in cheek!

Swamphag · 29/11/2025 15:09

Ooh I was deleted
For clarity, I was being sarky in case I upset someone 😭

That post is very revealing of the complete lack of self awareness of these people. “Well, it’s often dismissed as hyperbole by people that we are facing oppression, but this not at all hyperbolic or ridiculous charity concert just like more worthy causes have proves that it isn’t hyperbole. Checkmate terfs”

Let me guess, mentioning debt is a “dog whistle”?

A lot of the media stories use the phrase "the event aims to raise funds for the Good Law Project and Not A Phase, a trans-led charity".

I presume that's what was in a media release.

I can't find any more details on the proceeds (if any) from the concert.

Davros · 29/11/2025 15:18

Don’t performers in charity events often get no fee but expenses? 🕳️ 💰

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2025 15:39

Davros · 28/11/2025 15:40

I think I might be washing your hair that night too

Is it OK if I bring shampoo, conditioner and a mask?

TheUnusuallyQuerulentMxLauraBrown · 29/11/2025 16:01

I’d say let’s start a book on how long it takes for this event to be cancelled due to purity spiralling but I’m concerned that by the time we type out all the dates between now and March 11th it’ll already be over and we won’t even have time for Mumsnetters to place their bets.

(I bet it’s cancelled quicker than Zarah Sultana can boycott her own conference!)

TheAutumnCrow · 29/11/2025 16:06

Does Polanski think debt is a western oppressive construct, that currency is a construct, something like that?

Anyway, I genuinely think that the organisers’ perceived or real association with KKR (on the pro-Gaza BDS avoid list) is going to scupper it all, as pp have said. Very embarrassing for Dani Tuckpants and the other patron-performers.

So who fucked up on their due diligence? Who didn’t manage their prep properly? I doubt we middle-aged shrews and vipers would have dropped a clanger like that. We do all the required tedious, repetitive and necessary background shitwork while running multiple other life projects and earning a living. It makes us good at stuff.

SidewaysOtter · 29/11/2025 13:59

I think there's a lot of wailing, accompanied by the rending of garments.

Rending of skirts that go spinny 😭

Greyskybluesky · 29/11/2025 14:40

If they want it to be free if you're trans, how do you verify someone's transness?

Presumably it would be enough to identify as trans.
And how funny it would be if every single attendee did so.

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2025 15:39

And we’re gonna need refreshments 🍸

Not exactly Live Aid, is it? Grin

Zack Polanski has tweeted 'Delighted to be speaking at this charity concert at Wembley in March'

Somebody needs to tell him it's not a charity gig.

Some very good responses to that tweet. (He really is on X still! I thought all the pure of thought on the left had gone over to bluesky.)

only Dame Katy comes close

TRAs now saying this should be free if you're trans

Also complaining that artists e.g. Kate Nash are profiting from exploiting trans folk

Epic.
