Spotted on the Guardian today:

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

Let's not forget that JM Fox Killer KC can also charge for consultancy services that are outwith his job remit...

I think raising money for trans rights is a fantastic idea. They can use it to fund extra, separate toilets and changing rooms for anyone who finds it triggering to use the facilities of their own sex.

Oh, wait, that isn't what the money is for....?

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 01/12/2025 20:12

Reading that, I wonder how many such slebs have a nice fluffy idea of just 'supporting trans rights' without realising they are in fact supporting anti-woman and gay activism, seeking the overturning of women and gay rights in law.

Needs pointing out loudly and clearly. This isn't a neutral position, it's not like flapping a rainbow and it being all luffly to feel nice. This is looking women in the face and saying undress for men or be excluded from society.

SwirlyGates · 01/12/2025 20:13

"Olly Alexander, who himself identifies as ‘gay and queer and nonbinary’"

Isn't "queer" redundant these days if you're gay (and buy into the term), as "gay" is a subset of "queer"? But worse, how can you be nonbinary and gay. If gay people only have sex with, or are attracted to, people of the same sex as themselves, do nonbinary gay people only have sex with other nonbinaries? And do those nonbinaries have to be the same biological sex as themselves, or does the nonbinariness override biological sex? It's a mystery.

They're morons basically. And if that sounds too strong, I'll downgrade it, "They lack any semblance of critical thinking."

He might be pansexual in that case rather than one of the Boring Old Gays (TM)

I honestly don't think that's what some people mean when they say 'gay', now. In their mind, it's not to do with same sex attraction. It's about rejecting heteronormativity. Plenty of heterosexuals call themselves 'gay' and 'queer'.

It doesn't make any sense, of course, but none of this bollocks does.

It’s quite the conundrum, isn’t it?

CassOle · 01/12/2025 22:04

You have to tick as many of those boxes as possible, so that you can add up a decent amount of oppression points!

moto748e · 01/12/2025 22:24

Nor just that, it's staying in the in-crowd. Why should The Gays have all the fun, why can't straight people be queer edgelords too?

JanesLittleGirl · 02/12/2025 00:02

Somebody is going to have to do a cover of Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel'.

ProfessorDrPrunesqauler · 02/12/2025 00:29

The article says the concert came about
‘As a response to the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex’ !!!

does that mean all these people are against the explanation ?!

and so they are all against women’s rights to single sex spaces ?!

In which case this is a

Concert to raise money to remove women’s safe spaces and put women at risk

Shame on all of them and for The Guardian to advertise it

moto748e · 02/12/2025 00:33

Even if they are 'true believers', how can they just ignore the issue of men in women's sport, Khelif and so on (to name just one issue)? Hard to see any intellectual level on which this can justified. Still, doublethink eh? Orwell seems to get smarter by the day.

I liked this comment too:

And, last month, they settled their rather silly legal claim against the US law form Morrison Foerster on behalf of an unidentified transman (who, for reasons unknown, received only 20% of the £25,000 damages paid by Morrison Foerster, with the remainder going to the GLP).

It does seem that the GLP paid out £5,000 each to Trans+ Solidarity Alliance, Equality for Trans Families, Trans Legal Clinic and the Gender Identity Research & Education Society. The GLP, of course, got costs awarded.

www.legalfutures.co.uk/latest-news/us-law-firm-in-london-settles-claim-over-u-turn-on-helping-trans-man

So they gave them £25,000 to go away because it would have cost them more than that to defend it.

Lalgarh · 02/12/2025 10:24

I'm assuming Sophie Ellis Bextor is signed up like she would for any other pride month gig for a gay male fanbase, not realising the difference in um life experience of the attendees, let alone likely music tastes.

Maybe she's expecting glamorous "dolls" though which is not like a drag queen as we all must note. Not at all. Rupaul ended up having to correct himself after myriad perceived slights against The Community over this

Alternatively she is doing it because the LGB community is the largest part of her fan base and if she doesn't do it, it wouldn't take much to cancel her. (as proved by other celebrities etc.)

Talkinpeace · 02/12/2025 11:45

"LGB community"
Ah yes, where lesbians are barred from Pride
and men in dresses attack buildings where lesbians are meeting

The same Olly Alexander who thought that his staging for Eurovision being in a dirty locker room and echoing George Michael was appropriate and would go down well across Europe as part of a family show and a BBC flagship show? Because it's apparently'gayer than gay'.

That Ollie Alexander?

Whats the minimum age for tickets?

TWETMIRF · 02/12/2025 11:53

Ollie Alexander loves himself so much I suspect he wanks over a picture of himself. Bet he'd never consider a TIF partner

Which is why she stands a good chance of being cancelled if she isn't seen to be protecting the "T".

nb. I don't understand how some LGB people are as supportive of the T as they are. Its not as if its reciprocated. But then there are also a lot of straight people that are exactly the same.

Sorry this is getting a bit long. I can see why a group of men that are seen as the oppressor would want to identify as part of an oppressed group, especially when they don't actually have to do anything other than say "I am trans" to be part of it.

Even the transexuals that they have pushed out are pushing back, but it can't be easy when the group that you are pushing back against is getting bigger and bigger and includes AGP, Drag and all sorts of other people that were never transexuals in the first place and have managed to redefine what trans is to suit their own purpose. .

Sorry, it just messes with my head how TRAs have so much support.
