I’m glad to see it but in his resignation statement he seems to only be owning the Trump speech issue and not the deranged trans activism.

I think it’s three things

Trump edits
Trans activists running amok
The Gaza stuff

Yes I think it’s this more

Hopefully it’ll all be dug up by the other news channels - they only have to read the memo.

The ones who need to go are employees in the 'diversity;' unit, i.e. the Stonewall devotees. As a perfect analogy, imagine BBC/ Islington group-think, has been taken over by a flat earth cult. They employ a team of flat-earth cult worshippers, who are given power to permit, or to ban, everything the BBC does. Nobody is ever allowed to mention the possibility that the earth is not flat. At last, the Supreme Court declares the earth is not flat. The group-thinkers cannot bring themselves to consider the Supreme Court's ruling is anything except heresy. So they carry on as if their Cult belief can over-rule the Supreme Court. They still have firm control, as shown by the script announcing the departure of Davie; It mentioned the Arabic service, and mentioned the Trump speech, but not the Stonewall Cult Capture.

Tim Davies Resigns - Can Gender Critical Movement take some credit?
Mollyollydolly · 09/11/2025 18:58

They'll make it all about Trump. We're still invisible.

GallantKumquat · 09/11/2025 19:02

Good for the BBC governing board and good for Davies. When is the last time we've seen high level leadership take responsibility and resign? It's amazing to see someone show a degree of contrition for mal governance. No doubt GC views added to the chorus, but there should be no doubt that the BBC going after the head of state of the UK's first and foremost ally, and a highly litigious one at that, is the overriding factor.

The BBC is now front and center of an international crisis of its own making, and Trump will be after blood and will be demanding considerable concessions (as he did with CBS which was similarly over a barrel). Davies' situation was untenable, and there will be considerable pain in store for BBC IMO.

Waitwhat23 · 09/11/2025 19:10

There has been a day long spat on Twitter with male BBC journalists utterly outraged at the criticism of the BBC, throwing 'right wing/fascist/indoctrinated' insults at anyone even mildly saying that perhaps funding for the BBC should be contingent on the BBC actually meeting the ideals they claim to aspire to and utter bile targeted at those who have cancelled their tv licence (Sarah Philmore seems to be the main target at the moment).

One very witty comment I saw said 'that it's no longer wheesht for Indy, it's wheesht for Auntie'

How much would and can the gov lean on this resignation happening? Not sure how it works

EsmaCannonball · 09/11/2025 19:19

There's all the Huw Edwards and Gregg Wallace stuff as well. Basically the culture of the BBC protecting big stars rather than tackling abuse and obnoxious behaviour.

I see already that Davies and his supporters are going for the 'standing up to Trump brought me down' angle. It's all a right-wing conspiracy against a brave and principled man, apparently.

Has the BBC been criticised for the Maxine Croxall decision?

EsmaCannonball · 09/11/2025 19:24

They'll probably put a triumvirate of Juno Dawson, Medhi Hasan and Arthur Scargill in charge. Or should that be triumtheyrate?

MrsMitford3 · 09/11/2025 19:26

The inmates are running the asylum and the BBC has completely lost control

I got booted off twitter for saying a certain MP would happily stab KS in the back. I so wish I had been on there today.
TD also lied when he testified at the select committee saying he had seen no complaints re trans issues. I am sure I am not the only person who has complained about the way they cover them.

Absolutely. Early yet, but all about Trumpity Trump and not a dicky bird about anything else, and definitely not a squeak about TRAs running the whole sorry shitshow when it comes to stories that do fuck all except tell the public how bloody brave and stunning the men are.

Even the earlier bbc news story about the whole mess finished with a few little lines about trans and Maxine Croxall tagged on at the end like an afterthought.

WarriorN · 09/11/2025 19:35

Sonia sodha gave a bloody good performance on the today programme on Friday. I don’t think ppl like her will let it go
