I got booted off twitter for saying a certain MP would happily stab KS in the back. I so wish I had been on there today.
TD also lied when he testified at the select committee saying he had seen no complaints re trans issues. I am sure I am not the only person who has complained about the way they cover them.

That may be true - they didn’t show them to TD and he didn’t ask if there were any. There’s none so blind as those who will not see.

SomethingInTheAirToday · 09/11/2025 19:38

No. This was all to do with Trump.

It opens the floor for critical analysis and reflection if it’s only trump though.

they can’t brush it under the carpet any longer

Good for the BBC governing board and good for Davies. When is the last time we've seen high level leadership take responsibility and resign?

I don't think for a minute it was altruistic. They fear being sued by Trump, which would financially break the BBC so they had to go. Davies and Shah knew about the false reporting in May and deliberately sat on it.

They had an agenda which is likely anti Trump, pro trans & pro Palestine and used the considerably resources of the BBC to further their agenda. There is no way Davies wasn't aware of the bias in various departments. It would be bleeding obvious to anyone working there.

Hopefully loads on this on today programme and world at one tomorrow

woman’s hour, we are looking at you 🤨

Damnthetorpedoes · 09/11/2025 19:43

Credit to the Daily Telegraph for their investigative reporting - exceptional.
Recently, they researched and broke the Rayner scandal, and now BBC bias.

We had evasion and belated fake contrition from Rayner, and now we have Tim Davie jumping before he is pushed.

Keep up the good work DT!

GCAcademic · 09/11/2025 19:44

Sad times. All the fault of the right wing media, according to the Guardian. Nothing to do with the BBC itself, obvs.

HIGNFY should be good.

Oh wait.

At least they didn't blame the far right for a change.

Thank goodness he's left, he was running the BBC into the ground. Hopefully the next one actually steers it properly as a decent for-everyone media outlet.

I think that's wishful thinking. They will apologise and go back to ignoring women's rights.

I don't want to see the demise of the BBC but with Nandy as the Minister and the BBC chair still in situ nothing is likely to change

They may fear Trump due to the threat of being sued but they don't care for ordinary licence fee payers - 51% of the population aka women.

ArabellaSaurus · 09/11/2025 19:53

It's a start.

The whole organisation needs to be taken apart and put back together again, from first principles.

The bias within the BBC is structural - it will require root and branch reform, failing which, dismemberment.

I am not optimistic with respect to the former.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 09/11/2025 19:54

It's about Trump. did he jump or was he pushed, I can't imagine the PM was very pleased with the revelations about what they did to Trump, given he's being trying so, so hard to curry favour with him.

Agree, they've been responsible for some phenomenal journalism recently. I'd re subscribe if they didn't make it a Sisyphean endeavour to cancel.

It’s got a lot easier, and they are doing some cracking subs.

(No, I don't work for the DT!)

I shall look into it!

Really, it's refreshing to see a paper roll up its sleeves and do proper investigative work.

“While mistakes have been made, I want to be absolutely clear recent allegations that BBC News is institutionally biased are wrong,” she said.

Turness can't even resign without lying.

I was thinking that, they must be pretty happy atm

Rayner was a biggie, now this.

LizzieSiddal · 09/11/2025 20:00

Lisa Nandy was on the BBC this morning with Laura Kunsburg. LK bright up the Trump debarcle and I could believe my ears when Lisa Nandy said it wasn’t just about Trump, it was also about Trans reporting and Gaza! But yes the BBC are certainly trying to bury the Trans bias.

hholiday · 09/11/2025 20:02

The resignation was about Trump. But a lot of the comments on the mainstream media reporting of the story are referencing the Maxine Croxall decision as evidence the Beeb lost the plot under Davie. Plus the allegations of biased gender reporting formed part of the report that brought him down. Apparently BBC staff are furious about Croxall’s reprimand too. So I don’t think his successor is going to be able to ignore this.

Bobblebottle · 09/11/2025 20:03

I just listened to the SEEN in journalism podcast with Nick Wallis - he said he spoke to Tim Davie at a party and told him that the trans story is even bigger than the post office scandal because it is about trust in institutions - and Davie was dismissive! Wonder if he will ever remember that or care
