Etsy Die Mad Terf Mugs - part of their trans inclusive line of products

See https://www.etsy.com/listing/1858479662/die-mad-terfs-trans-inclusive-mug

I thought this must be a wind up in a Daily Express article but turns out to be true.

Other items include lawn signs reading “In this house we don’t mourn dead transphobes”

Mims Davies MP, the Shadow Women’s Minister, said: “My actual first thought was who actually relaxes with a cup of tea with a death threat on to women?

“This is appalling and, once the item is quickly removed from sale, serious questions need to be asked.”

Fury as Etsy sells ‘Die Mad Terfs’ mug branded death threat

Etsy faces backlash over a £16 mug with the slogan ‘Die Mad Terfs', branded a "death threat to women" by MP demanding its removal.

gifts of any sparkling wine, with the exception of a good sparkling chardonnay or actual champagne, are regifted in this house.
I like the idea of using it to write names in snow, though

I'll make an exception for Blanquette de Limoux.

Many years ago we wanted a kitchen machine, so our decision - which i left up to DH as he does the cooking - was "get a cool looking KitchenAid, and be prepared that we need other cool looking KitchenAid machines, or get a thermomix which is quite ugly but useful if you use all the things."

We went for KitchenAid because - cool looking. And have not looked back. He does use a ThermoMix at work though. I get the attraction neither for ThermoMix nor egg-nogg. Bleuch. I hate Baileys too (they do a birthday cake version!) and i can't stand Prosecco (Champagne has smaller bubbles)

Back on topic, once you've started playacting the opposite sex your whole life, it's a small extra step to start playacting some terribly oppressed freedom fighter - all without leaving the living room!

I just visited the etsy site and searched under 'terf'. Same stuff that was on there last time I looked. Probably not worth updating the merch when there's a load of stock that hasn't sold yet.

Someone's selling 'Protect the Terfs' t-shirts 😃 Unfortunately, it's the same uninspiring, dull design as the dolls one. Fraction of the cost though.

Lol did they pink it and shrink it to fit women? 😂 as I'm guessing the protect the dolls ones need to be man-sized.

@Hoppinggreen I see a business opportunity for us here. Shall we ?😂

Great idea
Not sure "Die Mad Transwomen" would be allowed though

Yup, how convenient for that site to never post the preceding tweets?

There's this thing called 'cherry picking'…

Show us this mitigating context, then.

Let's see it.

Let's see what you think excuses this misogyny, homophobia and threat of violence.

Link to it.

Helleofabore · 05/11/2025 10:18

I do have to point out though that no sparkling wine tastes as good as it should if sipped from a mug.

Also, Cava is the next fizz to trend.

Biddy is both ageist and sexist. Well done.

Anti-Irish as well - it is from the Irish name Bridget, and 'biddy' was a derogatory term for an Irish woman in domestic service.
Full house, Howse!

Brefugee · 05/11/2025 10:22

gosh i didn't know that, thank you.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/11/2025 10:26

Haven't had Bailey's for years. I love Arran Gold, which is similar but better. Have an untouched bottle at home - this must be remedied. There is an ice cream made with this which is gorgeous. Possibly not available away from the island, though.

I'll make an exception for Blanquette de Limoux.

And Clairette de Die, we could have special glasses made saying CLAIRETTE DE DIE, MAD TERFS😄
Die is in the French Alps and is pronounced Dee. I always thought it should bet twinned with the town of Kill in Co. Kildare😁
[Kill is an anglicisation of Cill = church, derived from Latin word for a monastic cell]

Cava is also made using the same method as Champagne. Usually using Spanish native grapes but can be made with other grapes, including Chardonnay. Also look for Franciacortia from Italy.

I do recommend that you try a sparkling Albarino too.

“My actual first thought was who actually relaxes with a cup of tea with a death threat on to women?

The same sort of person who viciously mocks the existence & rights of trans people while relaxing with a nice cold glass of prosecco?

Edited

This makes literally no sense…

Cremant de Savoie is also good.

😂
I'm reminded of that famous German magazine headline about the late Queen which started "Die Queen" and seemed very threatening!

lcakethereforeIam · 05/11/2025 10:35

Casting my mind back, didn't Concorde have a bit of a sparkle?

MarieDeGournay · 05/11/2025 10:38

Well thank you for our starter for ten, Howse, this has been a fascinating and informative discussion of the lesser-known sparkling wines. Probably not what you intended when you posted, but thank you anyway😄

Helleofabore · 05/11/2025 10:40

Prosecco has an identity scandal of its own, you know. The primary grape to make Prosecco is Glera. The grape used to be widely known as 'Prosecco' and was exported to other countries as the variety named 'Prosecco'. When other countries started to make sparkling wines from the grape, the consortium moved to change the name to Glera to protect the wine, making any wine sold into the EU using the grape having to use the term Sparkling Glera. However, the countries still making sparkling wine using that grape can at the moment still call the wine sold domestically 'Prosecco'.

Wait what?

dh cries all the time, apparently its allergies….

Helleofabore · 05/11/2025 10:44

Don't forget the sweetie, Asti Spumante! An excellent wine to drink with lemon cheesecake.

Oh yes. Apparently you can only be a woman if you cry a lot, be gentle, nurturing and kind and follow all the feminine gender stereotypes. It’s why we know males with a trans identity aren’t women, because they’re the ones issuing death and rape threats. If they were truly women, surely they’d be gentle and kind and too busy sobbing into their tissues to attack women?

i do like a good Cava to be honest.

My current tipple is the apparently hugely trendy but unknown to me: Sherry and tonic. Yum.
