Why don't the police use some joined up thinking in these situations? Loads of photos and video showing the umbrella was already broken ... there's evidence right there.

Rather like Glinner's Tarquin already having gone through a court case for compensation over having his phone damaged at a protest - and then alleging having a very similarly age and type of phone damaged in a nearly identical way by Glinner. What are the chances?

LizzieSiddal · 29/10/2025 08:58

The reason for this is obvious. Susan is a director of FWS, they want to beable to say she’s a criminal. It doesn’t matter that it’s “only” vandalism, they just want the headlines “FWS director is a criminal”.

I hope she sues the arse of Police Scotland. Can she bring a private prosecution against the individual officers and any advisors, who made this decision?

fromorbit · 29/10/2025 09:13

Yeah this is going to work out badly. We have all seen the video. We know it is utter lies to silence a woman who is never going to be stopped. Susan will sue them into oblivion.

Julie Bindel

If this doesn’t peak those that have yet to be peaked, I don’t know what will:

The only thing dumber is going after JKR.

fromorbit · 29/10/2025 09:21

Get to the protests folks.

Women Won’t Wheesht

10h
Susan is being treated more harshly than the thug who attacked Julie in Aberdeen, causing her actual bodily harm when he punched her twice after stealing our property.

The complainant was Thomas Michael Moncrieff Carlin (aka Tom Harlow) who is a serial harasser of women.

We will be in Edinburgh on Saturday.

And the ones in London and Cardiff too!

BunfightBetty · 29/10/2025 09:38

Wow, the police are too stupid to even care about the optics on this.

Outrageous.

The evidence is all there in photograph and video that it was damaged before he was pointing it in her face (and when she had her back to water).

I can only assume Police Scotland want to embarrass themselves over the events of that day more than they already have.

It almost seems like punishment for criticising the police's lack of action against the noise.

Largesso · 29/10/2025 10:02

I can’t help but think this looks distinctly like revenge policing.

FWS raised serious concerns about the protection given to this dude by police officers on duty who seemed to be a bit clueless about the law, their job on the day etc. They didn’t even check whether he had sought permission to be there for his counter protest (which you need to have to protest outside of Scottish Parliament). I believe there was some to-ing and fro-ing by the police seeking advice but the result was a failure and a mess.

As a result, if I remember correctly but don’t have it to hand, Police Scotland issued a statement which wasn’t an apology per se but acknowledged it has things to learn or similar.

It is quite clear from all the evidence on the day: multiple witness accounts; video evidence (and there will be CCTV I’m sure) that Tim Harlow (I think that’s his name or something similar) didn’t have permission to be there (although mail says that’s ‘unclear’); breached permissible sound levels and was using the umbrella as a weapon. The police can’t possibly have been persuaded by any claim from him that he felt threatened by Susan Smith, there were police within touching distance, but even if he did feel threatened by her approach using the umbrella to poke at her is not a proportionate response. Given that this is not the charge kinda proves it can’t really be argued.

She approached him merely to ask him to turn the volume down and he poked at her. She put her arm up to protect herself and it is clear she barely touched it. All evidence shows any damage was already there before the encounter.

So why would they charge her with vandalism and ask her to come and accept the charge rather than go to her and arrest her?

There is another protest this weekend and so it feels
to me like the timing of this is relevant. I think they want Susan Smith to feel intimidated and to ensure she can’t go to the protest by these means.

Why? The only logical reason, in my view, must be they are looking out for their buds who will be policing the event. The ones of last time have no doubt been reprimanded for being bozos. The supervisor on duty who was consulted was probably also reprimanded for being a bozo.

So they want to try and use the charge to stop these annoying older women pointing out their bozo-ness.

I would also imagine that Tim Harlow has learned a few tricks from Lyndsey Watson and threatened judicial
review if charges aren’t brought but since anyone with at least one brain cell can read these charges as wholly trumped up charges I don’t really think that’s what’s going on.

It feels to me like revenge from the police ganging up to pay back FWS for having some influence whixh highlights their bozoness.

I think capture is the least of it. I think it is bare naked hatred against older women. Matrophobia threaded through the institution.

Legally in Scotland charges can only be brought after Procurator Fiscal process so given no PF would charge on this evidence this must mean she is being formally accused and will be reported to the PF after she ‘accepts’ this not that the PF has already authorised prosecution although it looks as if it has been dressed up to suggest a formal charge. That they are saying she could face a criminal charge if she doesn’t is a clear threat but probably just means they’d put the case to the PF who would dump it like a hot brick within seconds.

On all the information available there can be no other reading than revenge and intimidation.

I don’t think the bozos realise what will likely be coming in response to such behaviour. FWS are not known for letting the bozos away with shit.

HermioneWeasley · 29/10/2025 10:03

I can only assume this will massively backfire on them, though of course the stress of being charged is to punish her

It must, surely!

I’m so bloody angry about this.

I agree. I also think we need to get away from this idea that they're all stupid. They clearly are not.

Stooshie! Another fabulous Scottish word that I have learned courtesy of the hideous saga of gender ideology!

Even if I ever hear it used again for a different row, to me it will always mean: Toweringly tall black-clad whip-muscled man pokes at small woman with rainbow golf brolly and runs off to the police.

A bit of a stramash there. We need Bill MacLaren to do the commentary on these loony episodes. Perhaps the police like these pointless days in court , away from the inclement Scottish weather ....

TheAutumnCrow · 29/10/2025 10:57

Alucard55 · 29/10/2025 07:23

The hatred of women and women having a voice is clear to see.

And the dressing up of people’s real, genuine concerns for actual women as ‘far right-wing fascism’ and/or a ‘genocide’ is really fucking me off.

It’s led to a culture where inadequate men in possession of a broken item can just tell the Polis that a woman looked at it funny, or their pal Graham did it, and the uniformed goon squad are mobilised.

BorgQueen · 29/10/2025 11:14

Are there no adults in charge of Police Scotland?
Who does he know ( or what dirt has he got) that he’s got the type of clout to get the Polis acting like his own little Stasi?

SidewaysOtter · 29/10/2025 11:24

I presume Scotland has absolutely no crime whatsoever to enable Police Scotland to be spending their time on a claim of a bent brolly.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/10/2025 11:32

Fucksake, Police Scotland.

Enabling abuse of women. I'm glad its in the papers.

Tom Harlow is desperate for attention. I hope he gets it.

'An entertainer has cancelled plans to lead a children's storytelling event, after a backlash from parents who learned he also works as a stripper and drag act.
Tom Harlow wears a mermaid's tail and strings of pearls to read "alternative, empowering fairy tales" to children.
His website say his adult shows feature "striptease...burlesque... fetish".

'A Trans activist accused of disrupting a feminist rally at the Scottish parliament has been handed taxpayer-funded grants by a controversial SNP quango.
Tom Harlow – whose real name is Thomas Michael Moncrieff Carlin – was given thousands of pounds by Creative Scotland from a hardship fund set up for ‘freelancers’.'

Here he is with a My Little Pony strip routine:

Here he is at a 'mother tucker' event.

Sigmund Freud, come get your boy.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/10/2025 11:44

I see one of those videos is age restricted. It's almost as if a sexualised 'My Little Pony' routine is a bit grim, Tom.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/10/2025 11:45

'The Mail understands that Mrs Smith will refuse the offer of a warning by police next week and has been told that will mean she will be charged with vandalism.
She could also face bail conditions that may include banning her from Holyrood, the scene of the alleged offence.'

Scotgov are terrified of women, I think.

Greyskybluesky · 29/10/2025 11:46

Surely this 'vandalism' has to be evidenced?
There is evidence that the brolly was already broken.
