Trans people frightened to leave homes, says MP

"Trans people are frightened to go out or use public toilets after the Supreme Court ruling which defined a woman in terms of biological sex, a Labour MP has said."

"Rachel Taylor, who is a member of the women and equality select committee, described the interim guidance put forward by the equality and human rights commission after the ruling as “dangerous” and “incorrect”."

What a lot of drama over nothing.

Now they know how women who don't feel safe using toilets alongside men feel.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/09/2025 09:36

'Taylor said: “I think the interim guidance that was put forward was a totally disproportionate response to a judgement that had been made.”

She added: “They [the EHRC] have now put forward guidance which I haven’t seen, but I’m assuming is quite similar to the dangerous interim guidance.”'

Taylor seems to be an utter fuckwit.

Did she specify which public toilets are causing the distress? I.e. is this men now afraid to use the women's toilets, or men afraid to use the men's toilets with other men?

I don't believe either, but it would be interesting to know if the argument is 'I'm afraid to break the law' or ' Other men will attack me for crossdressing'.

Helleofabore · 29/09/2025 09:45

It is horrific to think that a group has been told so much misinformation that they are fearful to leave their homes. Because they could plan their days so that it was not an issue and use the unisex toilets and changing rooms that they tell women and girls that they should use (because that apparently is the solution and all facilities should be these unisex spaces).

There really is something disconnected in the discussion points. It only makes sense when you realise it isn’t about having safe spaces for that group at all, it is about validation. They cannot be happy unless a group of male people are accepted in the female single sex provisions.

And that some female people are distressed and / or intimidated by their presence could be seen as a bonus for some of that group.

JustFish · 29/09/2025 09:45

The urinary leash apparently only matters if it affects male individuals.
Not a thought or care for the women and girls affected by the march of 'trans inclusion' over the last 10 years, and their comfort dignity and ability to participate in public life when designated female single sex facilities are redesigned or made unisex by default.

No - it will be on the man who rapes a woman or a child. Full stop.
Women are not responsible for men's crimes.

Rachel Taylor is mistaken, and wrong, and deserves to be criticised and challenged and told that she is expressing opinions that have no basis in fact, and that women's spaces need to be protected for a number of reasons, including, but not exclusively, safety.

She also needs to have the role of the Supreme Court and the EHRC explained to her, it seems.

But a man raping a woman or a child will never 'be on her', it will 'be on' the rapist.

Helleofabore · 29/09/2025 09:47

Wouldn’t this be a grand time for the government to launch a male toilet safety campaign? A you can pee next to me campaign for all male
people?

Thissickbeat · 29/09/2025 09:50

Funny how I still see them in town and shops then.

This. I had the misfortune to have to share a YHA dorm with a trans woman last week - two younger girls checked out early the following morning as a result.

That's appalling. Was this in the UK?

Was it supposed to be a single sex dorm?

Remember 'Butler's Brigade' - Dawn Butler's band of intrepid straight women who [allegedly] had to accompany butch lesbians into the women's toilets to protect them from driven out at pitchfork-point by aggressive GC-ers? Or something like that..

Maybe she could set up a men's division of Butler's Brigade - straight men who volunteer to accompany transwomen into the men's toilets to protect them from ...whatever it is that stops them using the men's.

'You can pee next to me' badges. 'The Pee Bros' t-shirts. I can see it catching on bigtimeGrin

Toseland · 29/09/2025 10:04

Even the line "it's for validation" is a lie. I've met four men dressed as women in the ladies loos in my lifetime, none of them were there for validation, they were all there for sexual kicks.

The YHA doesn't offer single sex dorms.

It offers single gender dorms.

And the validation causing "gender euphoria" i.e. boners.

Yes. Rather important to note.

From bio She has previously worked as a solicitor, specialising in property law,

Wow, you must have to be pretty qualified to practice property law if it allows you tell the EHRC that their advice is incorrect without actually having read it.

MinnieMountain · 29/09/2025 10:11

That’s worth knowing @Chersfrozenface . I generally only book single rooms at the YHA now, but I was tempted by a cheap dorm bed recently.

I was thinking more like - possession of a 'Right side of history SHERIFF' badge made out of pasta and cardboard on a recent crafternoon
