... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

I'm glad the operation went well, @MyrtleLion and that things seem to be going in the right direction.

And yay for the rodent-loving nurse!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 11/10/2025 19:35

Good to hear your news, Myrtle. 💙May the infection be vanquished!

I hope the hospital is more efficient than the AI.🙄Still, it came up with 'Victoria Leo' all by itself, which is a little bit impressive.

I'm just sorting out the annex to Boily's stash - can someone please deal with the main storeroom?

Relieved to hear you're through the op, Myrtle, and that the gerbils have sent a human ally to look after you🐹Smile

MarieDeGournay · 11/10/2025 19:49

I'll start the new thread shortly. I have about 50 more posts on this one to think up a clever thread title😧

I don't think I can top 'Where everybody knows your username', which popped into my head without bidding.
I'll go with an autumnal vibe I think...

So pleased to hear from you, Myrtle, and that it went well. I’m still annoyed on your behalf, but glad you have some nice things and that cousin hamster found you when she came to visit.

I’ve just come back from a little drive to a small supermarket two villages away. It felt like an achievement because I’ve been avoiding things like that. I needed a fresh things top-up and bit the bullet. Felt more manageable to do it in the dark. The hound came with me and waited in the car. And I bought some crisps because I remembered you all seem to think I have a crisp addiction, and I didn’t want to disappoint 🙂.

Swashbuckled · 11/10/2025 19:56

Ooh, much appreciated Marie!!!

SeptemberIRemember · 11/10/2025 19:57

Thank you for your detailed report, Myrtle. These procedures are all new to me and possibly most of us so it’s great to have some understanding of what you’re having to go through. You’re looking for the positives so we hope that’s all there will be now.

Sleep well with the earbuds in, and I hope the drip isn’t too intrusive.

The crisp-buying was such a selfless gesture, Swash😁
Glad you ventured out and reclaimed some territory tonight.💙

Swashbuckled · 11/10/2025 20:13

Hmm.. reclaiming territory…I LIKE that. It did feel a bit like that too 🙂. And I’ve always loved being outside in the dark.

Picture, if you will, a warehouse of Indiana Jones proportions. Gemini gave me this image four times in a row, each time insisting it was bigger now.

I've found the door to the main store now.

Love it @Magpiecomplexand, well, what can I say? My name is Swashy and I’m a crispoholic .

I did buy a spot of salad too, to give the impression of being a picture of health. Looks like I left it on the counter, erm…by mistake…

Are you sure the salad isn't in your bag? I was going to say something about how important it is to avoid scurvy, and then remembered that actually potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin C!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 11/10/2025 20:49

Yay! Well done Swashy & hound!

OP posts:
Swashbuckled · 11/10/2025 20:51

Of course, it is; silly me. It’s a sack of salad and absolutely not a sack of gin and tonic that was so heavy I had to carry it on my back. A sack of salad so that it stays fresh. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion. Phew; glad I didn’t leave that on the counter. I would have been thoroughly
miserable. Thanks, Magpie!

Magpiecomplex · 11/10/2025 20:55

I think the hound has you covered, Swashy.

I feel anxious now - when do I start the new thread? about halfway down page 40?

Oh, he is such a good boy! Dare I say, well trained to boot?

Swashbuckled · 11/10/2025 21:01

Understand your anxiety, Marie, which is why I haven’t yet taken that brave step.

Why not half way down though, yes?

I get twitchy when everyone starts posting in the new thread before the old one is full. Have to stay behind until it’s all done..

Thank you for getting it, Swash! It's ridiculous what I can find to feel a bit anxious about - it's not like starting a new thread at the wrong time was going to cause the solar system to implode or something🙄

I never thought I was an anxious person, until a couple of years ago I heard a doctor on the radio talking about anxiety.
He said a degree of anxiety is not a bad thing, and I nodded in agreement, but then he went on to say
'if you arrange to have dinner with friends, and the first thing you think is 'Will I be able to find the restaurant?', you have a problem'.

Uh- oh. I assumed that's the first thing everybody thinks about, quickly followed by 'And what will I wear?'

But apparently not😐

Halfway down p40 it is, thenGrin

Magpiecomplex · 11/10/2025 21:13

The first thing I think is usually "will there be anything I can eat" which is probably just as bad!

Swashbuckled · 11/10/2025 21:16

My first thought would be about where I could park. I think parking is annoying. Worse if it’s a place I don’t know. I’d definitely google it beforehand.
