... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

Just back from neighbour’s. And that will teach me. It was a lovely evening with Prosecco and nibbles. I feel bad for being so reluctant earlier.

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 23:08

I like the sound of your close acquaintance, Cher 💙

We’re all delighted to have lost our bets on how long you stayed. Glad you had a lovely evening.Smile

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 23:16

Sorry about that, and thanks. I would have lost my bet too…

SeptemberIRemember · 10/10/2025 23:41

Another one here delighted to have been very wrong about how long you’d be with your neighbour.

Glad your evening went well, Swash.

Hiya it is no surprise that you were reticent about meeting a neighbour since, you have suffered such a horrific loss. There is no telling what gaffs, a well meaning individual might commit upon your person.

I think i did it myself once unwittingly i was torn with sadness myself as the boy we all lost was my son’s friend. But the hole in the mothers heart was something

so profoundly more than i could ever contemplate.

I suppose that you just have to get back to life of some description and wend your way through sad faces of others,

I cried a lot when i learnt what happened to you, but you did not have to see or hear that.

i hope that makes sense

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 23:50

Thanks, September.

Banned: your words are good and clear and fit with my experience. Thank you for writing them.
Yes, you make perfect sense to me. 💙

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 23:52

And, @Bannedontherun

This: “But the hole in the mother’s heart was something so profoundly more than i could ever contemplate” is what I think is happening around me. It helps to see it written like this. 💙

Gemini originally gave me just pampas instead of tumbleweed for Swashy's picture. I pointed out that tumbleweed is usually spherical, it apologised obsequiously and served up exactly the same picture again 🤦🏻‍♀️

You know, that obsequious apology is a hallmark of sneaky-weaselly AI. It means

n o t h i n g

except "suck it up, losers!"

Taztoy · 09/10/2025 23:00

It does. He wears crocs on top. They are grey. To go with the sludge green.

Is this dreary colour combination anything to do with his sludge-green-grey mood, or does he normally wear these shades?

AlexandraLeaving · 11/10/2025 06:20

Sorry for your loss Cher. And ongoing hugs to Swash. What a lonely path you are walking, despite being surrounded by others.

i hope Myrtle is resting well.

i’m sorry not to be more chatty or witty or creative like the rest of you in here. Work is being a bit stressful lately and I have limited energy. I do appreciate being part of this community.

The crocs are grey. He probably bought them in a Lidl aisle of shite. They aren’t real crocs.

The onesie has got to go. It’s going to have to get lost. Somehow.

Chersfrozenface · 10/10/2025 19:43

More sad news at Frozenface HQ. I learned last night of the death of... not a friend exactly, she herself used to use the term "close acquaintances".

She was very clever, often kind, sometimes spiky, and an absolute force of nature. She touched the lives of many people and she will be hugely missed.

I am so sorry @Chersfrozenface

Taztoy · 11/10/2025 08:45

@Swashbuckled glad you had a good night.

I am trying to motivate myself to go write an academic article. It’s not really an area I usually write on but it’s been brewing in my head for a while and the last couple of days with Tan on here have made it burble again.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/10/2025 09:15

Girlcat seems rather better today. She's not really limping and is eating/ behaving normally. She spent most of the night under the duvet cuddling up with me. Her choice!

DeanElderberry · 11/10/2025 09:25

The very best sort of fur-covered hot water bottle.

Absolutely. But tends to like licking me, and she has a very rough tongue. Ow!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2025 09:49

Glad to hear that Fuzzy.
And good morning to all women and their beloved beasts here (and any Staunch Allies we may have such as the Walrus who I’m sure is missing his lovely lioness). I’m not good at magical thoughts but sincere hopes for a day of rest and healing for all bodies and minds that need them. And BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew of course.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/10/2025 09:50

Perfect thoughts Errol.

Someone needs to invent a sort of oversleeve subtly flavoured with fish or liver or whatever which licky animals will prefer to their owner’s flesh.

Thank you for this, Errol - I was wondering what to say this morning - Myrtle obvs but Banned's lovely words to Swash, and Fuzzy's cat's sore paw, and Taz's writing and.. and... and you've said it all so perfectly💙

lcakethereforeIam · 11/10/2025 10:55

There was a poster yesterday on the AIBU about the vandalism in Brighton that had a very familiar way about them. Similar username too.

I've been watching the Last Airbender. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while. I have seen it before but I think I was reading or something at the same time. There's probably something I really should be doing instead.

I'm glad you are a part of this community, too!

No need to worry about being creative, witty et cetera. When you have the energy you will be able to demonstrate all of these attributes and more, if you so wish. I find all your contributions thoughtful and kind and well worth reading.

Keep on looking after yourself. Sometimes it's a full-time job.
