... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

…somehow posted halfway through …
at least I didn’t get embroiled in an annoying thread

FuzzyPuffling · 10/10/2025 18:51

Girlcat has hurt her leg/paw.
She jumped up very awkwardly earlier and is now limping.
Poor girlcat 😥

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2025 18:51

FuzzyPuffling · 10/10/2025 18:49

Rude.

Ignorant I’d have said

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 18:53

My neighbour has invited me round tonight for a catch-up. I’m so not in the mood for it. However, she asked me round last night and I explained I couldn’t make it so she suggested tonight instead. I’m already looking forward to coming home again and getting cosy.

That was a nice thing you did, Marie.

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 18:54

Poor girl cat, Fuzzy. Hopefully she walks it off.

Sorry to have offended you both. I've become used to seeing people (usually Americans) putting up pix of weird food combos & claiming they're British staples when actually nobody's ever heard of them, or people making fun of British food.

I just liked the 'if made correctly' bit.

Not offended, tongue would have been firmly in cheek, had said tongue and cheek not been happily dealing with an m&s smoked haddock fish cake.Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 10/10/2025 18:59

Yeah, let's all make fun of the Brits. <sigh>

Aw. The Ginger Whinger has his paw in a paw circle for her. Hope she feels better soon.

That's him, bottom left.

I've been on too many threads with Tan, and tried too often to get an answer to a straightforward question...

I don't have a problem having conversations with people I disagree with. I do have a problem with people who cherrypick half a sentence out of a long post and decide that's the thing they're going to respond to.

It's all very Nick Clegg circa 2010 "I'm going to reframe your question and answer the question you should have asked me that will allow me to get my talking points across"

I'm pretty easygoing, but my patience is not infinite.

This is exactly the style being used. I can’t stand it after a couple of posts and just leave the threads. I know what you mean about the posters doing a service to those peaking, but it’s like being Upton-ed and Upton did have his followers. I’d prefer it if nobody replied at all and would enjoy the tumbleweed.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2025 19:03

ive had good food in California and sometimes in the Boston area, but I’m pretty sure there’s large swathes of the US where they couldn’t obtain British staples for love nor money. Was there a bacon and Stilton combination upthread?

FIL was a bit of a recluse & when he absolutely had to visit someone once, he feigned a painful leg cramp & went home. 😂Try that?

Ah. I read it (not sure why) as some (eg) French superior foodie type asking the question, and the British person in the pub (where the conversation took place in my head) responding in that deadpan British understated way. Dry, but taking the upper hand humour-wise.

Gemini seems a bit sketchy on the concept of tumbleweed but it's a cool image nonetheless.

Agree. It was never going to be a debate or an exchange of information & ideas. No point to any of it.

She’s only next door. But I could feign massive fatigue, and general “bad day” stuff. I can’t imagine she’d require me to be making a big social effort. Surely. I’ll see how it goes, but don’t anticipate staying long.

Ooh, it's like the tide has really, really gone out, leaving behind Swashy the queen of all she surveys, & some naff 1990s home decor.

OP posts:
Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 19:15

Hey, less of the naff! My galleon is filled with swathes of thick rope! Still marked in places from the clenched grips and thumb prints of pirates across the centuries. They don’t make it like they used to though, that’s for sure.

PastaAllaNorma · 10/10/2025 19:17

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/10/2025 18:20

Did you bring food goodies back from your holiday?

I did! A lot of olive oil and a fair bit of pasta and herbs.

lcakethereforeIam · 10/10/2025 19:20

I thought the British food gag was funny in a dry British humour sort of way. Some things definitely do benefit from being made badly. Bacon on sourdough with bougie butter is good but on Warburton's toastie with cheap spread is also pretty excellent, especially as you can buy extra bacon with the money saved.

Yeah, but the tide's left behind woven balls & dried pampas. I didn't think pirates went in for that sort of thing. But hey, what do I know?
