... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

Yeah, but the tide's left behind woven balls & dried pampas. I didn't think pirates went in for that sort of thing. But hey, what do I know?

I bet that pirate is quaffing vanilla oat milk latte of suchlike.

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 19:28

That’s a firm denial of Pampas!
Didn't realise they were woven balls; I must have put my eye patch on the wrong eye again!
Thank you ☺️

Magpie, how come you're here but the HC Bowser klaxon hasn't gone off yet?

Got home, took in the food delivery and fell asleep!
If you're offering though, I wouldn't say no.

Swashbuckled · 10/10/2025 19:31

Off I go then, waking the plank all the way to next door. Hopefully I’ll be back soonish…

Maybe we could run a book on her return time. In Jane Austen novels iirc 15 minutes was polite, but I reckon Swashy will be at about 40 minutes

SeptemberIRemember · 10/10/2025 19:39

I’ll go for 35 minutes.

Magpiecomplex · 10/10/2025 19:40

News from Myrtle, she's ok but very sleepy.

MarieDeGournay · 10/10/2025 19:40

Complete change of subject because I thought this was v funny:
One of those 'the things children say!' examples:

3 year old was outraged to hear she was going to have a little brother or sister:
'But mammy can only be mammy to one people. Daddy can be mammy to the new one'😄

And If found this ad in an old magazine, 30s I think .
I'm sure that's a box of Tunnocks the wife is tucking into.😁

492 attempts later, including several ❤to ❤chats with gemini, this was the best I could get it to do.

More sad news at Frozenface HQ. I learned last night of the death of... not a friend exactly, she herself used to use the term "close acquaintances".

She was very clever, often kind, sometimes spiky, and an absolute force of nature. She touched the lives of many people and she will be hugely missed.

Understandable after those sleepy drugs, Hope it all went as expected.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/10/2025 19:44

She sounds very special, Cher. Hugs.

Much appreciated Android, thanks. I like the under-seat lighting!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/10/2025 19:45

Can I take 25 minutes?

I think that came from the pirate ship (along with the decor bits) - I told gemini to start again with no preconceptions, & it said it would. It lied.

It may be a good thing that our resident lion is sleepy. Sleep helps with healing.

Gemini originally gave me just pampas instead of tumbleweed for Swashy's picture. I pointed out that tumbleweed is usually spherical, it apologised obsequiously and served up exactly the same picture again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Soooo frustrating, isn't it? When it's good it really is good, though. But it seems to be a question of luck.

Oh I hope that is exactly what our Myrtle is doing - having a deep healing sleep, while gerbils keep watch, ready to spring into action when she wakes.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Cher - people can be dear to us in so many different ways, family friends, neighbours, 'close acquaintances', they can all occupy their own place in our hearts that feel empty when they pass on.💙

Britinme · 10/10/2025 20:35

Sorry for the loss of your close acquaintance @Chersfrozenface - I guess as we get older more and more people hop off the twig for one reason or another, and it gets harder as your circle of friends and close acquaintances of the kind you would miss gets narrower.

NotAtMyAge · 10/10/2025 20:36

So sorry, Cher. She sounds like a remarkable woman, the kind who has touched the world for good.

SeptemberIRemember · 10/10/2025 22:20

Sorry to read this, @Chersfrozenface .

lcakethereforeIam · 10/10/2025 22:56

It's the price we pay for caring about people. It's a price worth paying. I'm so sorry Cher
